This was a great experience. We had a party of 9 that road the train. It was a significant wait in line but it wasn’t bad overall. If you have a hard time with stairs this may be an issue. They do allow wheelchairs on board. You ride up to the top of the mountain and you can go into the gift shop and the overlook. I’m glad that we experienced this while in Chattanooga.

I recommend going on a cool day! We went on a day it was 98, and there’s no air at all on it making it miserable. The ride down we sat in the humid cart for awhile before leaving. It’s a great experience and I would return, but only if cooler out. At the top there’s plenty of lookout spots with spectacular views & inexpensive snacks.

We were trying to order online later in the day but didn't have availability. We decided to drive there anyway & but tickets. *NOTE: she said online buying cuts off 2 hours prior to last ride. We missed the train by a few minutes so waited for the next one, but they run every 30 minutes. It's an interesting & pretty, steep ride up the mountain. At the top is an observation deck for a panoramic view. It started snow flurries while we there & was bitter windy so we didn't stay out too long. There's old pictures to look at & the machine room. I was ecstatic to see the vintage advertisement sign for the incline is still hanging on a pole on the way down. You can only buy your tickets at the bottom, the top isn't open for tickets. Parking is $2 for all day.

This attraction has more to it than you might expect. The incline railway is made of glass walls so you can enjoy the steep incline as well as the beautiful view of the city. The train ride is about 8 minutes long. At the top you have the option of viewing the city from 3 different levels. Train runs every 15-20 minutes so one can spend as much time as you want at the top. You can also get souvenirs from the gift shop. Parking costs $2 for the entire day and there is ample parking space.

Rode 6/21/2019 and cost was 15.00 each. Just show up n ride. Last trip is 9:10 PM but likely varies each season. Parking behind bld at base is 2.00 for all day. Gift shop at top along with lookout balconies.
It comes down the mountain slowly, which means you can have a good look at the views
It doesn't at all. It moves quite slowly. Not much faster than walking speed. Your fear of heights may be challenged though as the angle is steep but the view is outstanding. Face your fear and enjoy yourself.
I apologize, but Unfortunately I did not notice any handicap or wheelchair access.
Yes it is. I do know for people in wheel chairs as well as the blind it can be more difficult but stilla great experience.
About 10 minutes but it seems longer. Great ride for all ages! Definitely recommend!
Beautiful and peaceful scenery. One of those, you have to see it to understand moments
Hi Beth, It is $15 per person and that is without the museum.
Yes. Try to visit this attraction as early in the morning as possible because around the evening it is very hot and there is no air conditioning on the incline so you will just about suffocate with the mask on. My 3rd old son was sweating last time we were on the incline.
Most ppl don't know or care what you're talking about..
You will have to ask the Park person
The history of the incline is shared during the train ride. Unfortunately my focus was on the steep straight up ride to the top of the mountain in the train.
It's steep, the cart was built in such a way that if you are at the bottom you are sitting leaned back a bit.
The Incline is handicap accessible, but you must be able to walk on and off the car. The car is built on an 18 degree angle so it is difficult for some.
We did this because we were spending the entire day there and planned on doing these activities anyway. We loved it. Rock City had some spectacular views and is lots of fun for the kids to run around though all the paths and caves. Ruby Falls cave is your run of the mill cavern but the waterfall at the end is spectacular! And the Incline is so cool! I definitely recommend it if you have an entire day to spare.
We did a day trip from Atlanta but book ahead if you are staying we found out the hard way...we were tired and wanted to stay but EVERYTHING was booked. Have fun!
Runs rain or shine
There are already tickets at the window
As far as we saw, you can drive or take the train. You maybe able to find a trail, but you won't make it in one piece if you try to walk the roadway. Rock City is $22 and up for adults and $13 and up for kids. It's basically the nicest rock garden with an insane view we've ever seen.
Yes you can but it'll take you most of the day. Take snacks with you as they're super expensive there and limited variety
You should be able to do it on line and there may be a phone number .
It takes about 20 min to go up. Then you walk around as long as you want, but before the last train goes back down, and vice versa.
We purchased tickets on line....no problem
No, it's only a 15 minute ride from bottom to top
**** tip: The ticket for all 3 attractions is your best deal!
15 dollars
I'm sure it's possible but I doubt they will do it
I'm not sure they'll be open on Thanksgiving day. You may want to contact them.
Chattanooga it is only a 1 mile ride
Yes
15 dollars if you park up at ruby fall there is no parking fee
Yes! It is.
No, make sure to pay for parking at the base, or meter at the top. You will get a parking ticket otherwise. 😉
72 pitch almost like the train is straight up and down. It's awesome And I dont like heights.
Not much designated space to eat. I would prefer eating at Rock city as that would be having food while enjoying gorgeous views.
Google. Or visit and ask questions.
There's no weight limit that I know of. It was about a 30 minute wait.
Yes any day
No it will not make you panic, it's real nice, slow, beautiful view you would like it.
3917 St. Elmo Ave is actually the lower end of the incline railway. I don't believe pets are allowed on the railway but not sure. Didn't see any. And parking is cheaper on this end as well. It was $2 an hour instead of $3 an hour at the top. And you have options to pay card , cash , or by app on phone. And also you can purchase more time. Just make sure your put your ticket receipt on your dash so it can be seen. It will be checked!! Also there is handicap parking at both ends.
The addresses are: At the top, where the gift shop is located: 827 E Brow Rd, Lookout Mountain, TN 37350 At the bottom: 3917 St Elmo Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37409
3917 St. Elmo Avenue Chattanooga TN 37409. It is directly to the left of the tracks going up the mountain on the right sideof the road.
Best hope of avoiding lines in the hot sun, get there as close to opening as possible.
For sure service animals, it's a trolley car in size...id say just for others safety...muzzle the dog.....but we really don't have to take our pets everywhere, do we?.....btw, I have 3 dogs and love them dearly...
You can buy Package for $50 for incline railway, Ruby fall and rock city
Yeah but sometimes I Like to drive better than do the fake train because you get a better view(s), even though there is light traffic.
Yes. The Incline runs rain or shine.
There's a few food local options: Mojo Burrito is good is you want something quick & easy, Mr. Ts Pizza is good & not too expensive or 1885 is kinda nice & a few more dollars
