Someone had told me it was closed but it is very much open. Get there early because it is a very popular spot. I got there before 9 am and there were just a handful of spots left to park comfortably. Itβs a beautiful hike and not strenuous. On All Trails, the average time there and back not including hotsprings soaking is 2 hours. I would not consider myself a fast hiker but I was there and back within 90-100 minutes. Another benefit of going early is that it is not too hot out. There are spots in the water that are cool and spots in the water that are very warm. Definitely recommend this hike and hotsprings!

Itβs spring time π»which means time to wake out of the slumber! π» Itβs been awhile since Iβve done a new hike and Fifth Water Hot Springs landed on the top of the list. Gorgeous hike from bottom of the trail to the springs, 7 miles rt. Be prepared for a little mud and ice for an adventurous trek. We soaked in the relaxing hot springs for a good hour so well worth it!

Went late December. Very very pretty hike with all the snow. The springs are gorgeous and hot. Probably not the best place to bring kids because some do not like to wear clothes there. I hiked it in tennis shoes but i slipped 6 or 7 times so hiking spikes are definitely recommended.

This is probably one of my favorite hikes ever! The parking lot was full when we arrived, so we had to wait for a car to get out. Luckily it was only a few minutes. The trail is beautiful you walk along the creek until you find the Hotsprings. We did 2 miles in until we found the springs and stayed on the closest one we found which was beautiful because it had like a little waterfall. The water was perfect, it wasn't hot. But it was warm enough to stay comfortably warm. We started to head back kind of late and it got dark on our way back, but surprisingly there were several people hiking up on our way down. Our 4 year old loved swimming in the hot springs. We loved it!

The answers above me are INCORRECT. The gates are closed and it becomes a 13 mile round trip. You need boots and snowshoes to access. Snow is too deep for cars.
Yes. But remember it still takes you 40-45 Minutes Hiking.
You won't want to take a snowmobile to the hot springs. The trail is too thin. You'll roll into the water pretty quick. If you're thinking about somewhere else, most definitely not. The elevation in that area and it's geographical position is not conducive to having the amount of snow to make it worth the trip up the back side of the mountain like that. I would love to hear if someone has anything different to say tho. It's time to take the sleds out for me as well.
Very well travelled. Microspikes are recommended as always.
I took my dog in the Spings area just fine, so does everyone else. Dogs are totally allowed in the spings.
Yes it is. But the parking lot fills up fast and if you park on the road you will get ticketed. So I'd recommend showing up there earlier in the day because by the afternoon the parking lot is packed because it's the access point for a few different trails.
Very dog friendly. Taken my dog up every time, lots of people do.
The gate has been open for a while
It adds just over 3 miles round-trip.
Gates are closed but you can access the springs you just have to walk further
The gate is closed for the season. You have to hike further but can still get there
A nearby campground, Three Forks Campground, is free and close enough to merit staying there.
It's good no snow temps in pots are perfect
I think you should go in mid morning during the winter. You don't want to be on the trail when it's dark. The hike is moderately strenuous, so make sure to cardiologist is okay with it.
Definitely a lot of rattle snakes in the general area- we saw them on the road. But that was mid summer. Cool fall weather means the snakes aren't out as much.
It's been closed since May of 2020. The official website still says it's closed due to public safety concerns. There is a concrete barrier at the trail head with a huge sign on it.
No exact date due to covid. Once that dies down then it should be open again
It is signs that show that is close but..... They forgot to block the trail entrence,π¬π·
Be careful, there is a big fine if the police find you up there
No, it has been closed for months because of covid.
It is closed all blocked off
I was there two weeks ago and it was closed. Don't know if it's changed since then
The parking lot was not open when I went 3 weeks ago, but we parked somewhere else and hiked the trail :)
No!! It's a pretty rocky and rugged hike either way you come in.
I'm pretty sure it's still closed to the public. About an hour and change hike up
I tried last month and it is "Closed for your safety." :-(
yes
Yeah, you can literally just duck under the cable that's there.... Not that I'd ever suggest breaking the law π
Yes. Check USFS Fifth Water Hotsprings and it will give you the most updated info.
Officially it's closed, though no one seemed to pay any mind to that.
It's not open although some people are just ignoring the signs and going in. Last time I went, a local Forest Ranger told many people that the road past the gate including the hot springs is currently "closed" even though the gate is open. You can camp further South.
USFS still has it closed. Not sure of camping options.
No, according to the Ranger they will not be open until the State of Utah allows up to 150 people to Gather.
When we went up, there were many people skinny dipping in the lower pools. Don't know whether it's actually allowed, but I doubt anyone will say anything.
No
The fifth water trail was about 5 miles round trip. I don't know the other trails in the area, I was just there visiting.
nope, it's free π
Not yet
No
There's a lot of ice right now it's probably not a good idea.
Yes
The trail has a lot of ice I would wear yaktrax or spikes
No the gate is closed the trail is very icy yakTrac or spikes highly recommend.
End of May i believe.
No
Plan for a week day visit. Parking lot only has room for about 15 cars and deputies will cite anyone parked illegally. The trail is about 1.5 miles. Not stroller friendly. Some areas can be dangerous for small ones as there is no fence to prevent significant (15 feet) falls to the Creek. No nudes when I went but young lady hid herself behind a rock to change into bathing suit.
Not usually.
No you can still go to the Hot Springs it's just Double U hiking time
A while ago, we did that exact thing. You just have to park a little bit further down.
They plow Diamon Fork, but stip.short of the hot springs.
Yes
They shouldn't be, I've been up there in the middle of winter.
They were last weekend
Go south on I-15 all the way towards Spring Ville
Sure! It is a family place. So there might be a few people to tell you otherwise.
I went up there last winter...the parking area is right at where they close the gates.
Usually it's the first major snow storm.
Should be open. Get there as early as you can, or parking will be difficult.
Okaii thanks
Take water and some snacks and they will be fine. You get hippies up there sometimes usu towards the evening with all that goes with that so mid day is often the best.
It's 4.5 miles round trip. 2 1/4 to get there, and 2 1/4 back. It's a very easy trail. I see whole families with small children on that trail all the time.
Not the hot spings, but down the road from there is plenty of space for horses
Absolutely dog friendly! It is on many dog hike lists for Utah. My dog loved it!
Only if your mom gives you one ;)
Gates are open! I'd arrive between 8-10. By noon it was pretty packed
They are very much for soaking in!
I was there a week ago was warm and green
Yes they have been open for over a month
I would say between 80 - 100 depends where you sit. The river runs right next to it and it's very cold thos time of year. So if you get too hot, jump in the river.
Price is very reasonable. Beautiful landscape and a short hike to the springs. It can be crowded on the weekends but still worth it.
Oh, yes, beautiful, wanting to enjoy that beautiful place. Thank you very much for answering.
Yes, must watch out for hikers
Probably not, best way to keep a check on that, is AllTrails app, and pay attention to the comments
Terrible on Friday's About sunrise
Its paved. I dont recall any dirt road up to the trailhead. Parking is limited. Dont park on the side of the street cops frequent that area
Friday and Saturdays are really crowded, Mondays Tuesdays , Wednesdays will be you best shot. Some snow but not that bad.
It's only an additional 1.6 miles with the gates closed, so basically about a 4 mile hike from the gates to the springs...
No still closed
Winter time you may have to walk, during open season time there's parking It's always open
No. Still closed for the season
It was melting when we hiked yesterday. It was deeper on the sides with some slush on the shadier parts of the trail.
Gates are still closed
Gate is still closed for the winter. Plan on hiking a little further
Iβm going camping for 2 nights. Do you think my car will get a ticket and is there camping right by the hot springs. Are they free?!
I went up after a big storm with pretty deep snow and it took about 80 minutes from the seasonal gate to the springs. I went much faster coming down.
Open year round though there might be more walking than in the summer due to the snow
A long time. If you are fit I'd imagine 2-3 hours up.
Yes just down the road there is a free campground
The seasonal gate are closed generally from November 1 to May 1. But you can still hike to the hot springs. It's just an extra 1.6 miles.
Depends on how fast you walk. Gate is closed for the season so be prepared to walk about 8 miles round trip.
The gates are seasonal. The last mile and a half of road is gated off from November 1st to May 1st but you can still hike in any time, any day. From the gate to the trailhead is only an extra 1.5 miles. From the bottom of the trail to the springs is 2.5 miles so your looking at a round trip of about 8 miles. My tracker last week measured my total trip at 7.6 miles.
I hiked to the springs last week, just after the last big snow storm, and my tracker measured my whole round trip at 7.6 miles from the seasonal gate. The trail is used enough that it gets packed down so snow shoes are usually unnecessary unless you're the first up after a storm.
Maybe it's the weekend. In the winter season it's still busy so I just depends on time of day or night. It seemed me to be a constant stream of people going and coming
The trail is always open. My friend and I hiked in at night. I also went up last week the day after our last big storm and just hiked in a good pair of snow boots. Another guy went up on cross country skis. My tracker measured my trip from the gate to the springs and back at 7.6 miles round trip.
Can you park at the trail head?
Gates are closed you can still hike in but it adds about 5 miles to the hike.
It's actually SCALDING hot in some places, so be careful. It's been especially hot these past few years - about 130Β°
Busier on the weekends for sure
I'd wear boots up but yeah it is hiked all through winter
Last time I was there the gate were closed. Around Oct if I recall right
It's open. But half of the road is closed so there is an extra 2 miles you need to walk. Its a decent hike. You need to where snow clothes and shoes. The road to the parking area is a little dangerous so drive very slow
No, the trip is 12 miles round trip right now
The gate is after the parking lot. I do not know if it will be allowed to go through the closed gate, I suppose not and it must be dangerous to climb with snow or ice, there are very narrow areas that you could fall many meters.
Gate is open. It appears they have even moved the gate about 2 miles further in so you can park pretty close if it is closed there was little ice on the trail but no snow yet.
Yes! Not a lot but some here and there. Was there Friday.
Gates are closed for year but yes you can walk passed the gate. It's a 13 mile hike around trip. Not sure about snow
I think you can camp there.
During the week isn't nearly as busy as the weekend but depending on time youll still see others.
It's still open and recommended you leave before sunset.
And more dangerous
Haven't been recently enough to know. My guess is that it closed in November bc of the snow. I know many places do
No there isn't
People camp there often. Park rangers hike to the springs often. Mainly towards the evening hours.
Gate is always open but its isn't always easy to get too. Make sure you have the right equipment for your trip.
They are open all the time, just make sure you bring an all wheel drive car, the road gets very icy and slippery.
I'm pretty sure it's open year round and I've heard the fires are very close to there.
Yes, this is near all the fires.
Agreed. Plus depending on time of day it can get a little chili so light jacket and pants
I'm not sure about that in normal conditions, but right now there is a large forest fire in that area, you would want to check how that affects it before making plans
I think you'd be insane to do it today. Fires are nothing to mess with
I'd say that if you were to go during normal times, aka business hours on most days you should be fine.
Deep enough to sit in for sure
Don't believe so
No there is not.
That huge rain storm that came through took care of a lot of that smoke. The landslides did affect the trails so be prepared for that.
There was a flash flood in that area when it rained a few days ago. Should've settled down by now.
One way, and when I did it, everyone in our group's pedometers clocked it at nearly 3.5 each way.
It's pretty leisurely! Definitely not uphill the whole way.
Find parking outside of the parking lot, it fills fast. And some **** **** hit my truck the last time I was there.
Yes it is true.
Yes they still open on August, i know they close for winter because i went on February and the gates was closed but we parked outside and we just walk is a long walk but you still can get there.
I think morning might be less busy and also they are open 24/7.
For me it was not too narrow or scary, when we were on it bikers rode down there whole trail without a problem. If you do indeed slip, it would be very unlikely you would get seriously injured. There are also fences along most of those spots. That being said, in the winter things are more slippery and those narrow spots are scarier.
Dont park on the road or you will get towed, they are enforcing it like crazy
It's nowhere near big enough to go swimming in, but you can soak in them. They are hot tub sized.
Yes, but take some extra bags. The garbage is an issue and there has been rumor of closing this gem due to carelessness
You don't have to pay money....... As stantel said, don't park on the road though you'll paying a nice ticket also don't park on the bridge
There's a few firepits in spots along the hike up to the hot springs as well.
It's free mate
I'm not sure about free, but there is camping. I've never checked, I just go up for the day
No. If gate is open you can do within 45 Min.
They're at the top of the trail and yeah as the other person said it's about 1.5 to 2 hours to get to the top unless you're crazy fast at hiking. Lol
It's always busy anymore, dont park on the road but Sunday is a good day
There are camp sites atound the area. The gates are open doing up the Spanish Fork canyon side.
We stayed at Diamond campgrounds this weekend. Weather was awesome, no snow.
They are not always open. Yes the winter gate is open so you can get to the closest parking lot.
Little bit on the sidewalk. But it's been almost 2 weeks
Yeah. Was just up there on Saturday
It will definitely be warm enough, its a hot spring. And the gate SHOULD be open
Eeek, thanks. Not sure she'd make it
If you're willing to hike. I don't think the gate usually opens until May
Its open
Atvs are not allowed on the trail. However, like Stuart said you could probably drive to the trail head and park there if your atv is legal to get there.
Memorial day weekend is about when they start opening gates
Technically yes because you're in a public area. But ive seen people without. So it really depends on who's there. Especially kids
We were just there two days ago. The trail was very icy but passable. Best to bring some crampons for traction but can be hiked with just boots usually. Also a heads up, the road is closed in the winter so you have an extra 3 miles of roads to hike first.
It is open. There is a gate but its usually open. It take about 30 mins down the path and you will see where people are going.up the trailhead. Its about 5 to 6 miles there and back. Well worth it tho
There is a gate about 4 miles up the the Spanish Fork side that gets lowered, after it snows so much. If you're going to the hot springs and the gate is closed, it adds another mile walk each way.
I had some friends who crossed country skied to it the other day. So I would say you'll be fine.
I have no idea, i just went last friday at night no one was there π but the gates are closed!! It's going to be like 13.5 miles hike! On Ice! π©
I went last weekend and Gates are still open, oh and I get there by 10am and the parking was full, it was really crawled!!!
