I hiked to the springs last week, just after the last big snow storm, and my tracker measured my whole round trip at 7.6 miles from the seasonal gate. The trail is used enough that it gets packed down so snow shoes are usually unnecessary unless you're the first up after a storm.
Depends on how fast you hike. The gate is closed for the winter do you have to hike about 5 miles or so.
