We went on a weekend and it was not at all crowded. We spent more than 3 hours there and it was so much fun. Found new species. Was damn excited to see the lions but they were just sleeping the whole time. Even the tiger was missing. Overall, we had a great day at the zoo.

The zoo continues to make awesome improvements and there is a great variety of animals, well shaded/not too hot even on sunny days, fun kid zone, animals are close and active, food and refreshments are good and accessible (although expensive for what it is). Nice touches have been added like free family photo when you enter the park, icee machines, sanitation areas throughout. Also plenty of bathrooms which made navigating to one easy as we needed them throughout. Also, we LOVED all the incredible Lego sculptures throughout the zoo right now. The gorilla, elephant, and red panda exhibits were some of the most impressive. They did a great job with the new elephant enclosure.

I can't rate for how this zoo ranks compared to other zoos. This was the first time I'd been to one since I was a wee lad. But, I wasn't impressed. If you want to go to a zoo, because you've never been, or because you really like zoos, or like in my case your daughter has never been to a zoo and wants to go, I guess this zoo is as good as any other. Maybe I'm being a little harsh. I had a good time, but that's because I was with my wife and daughter, and we always have a good time together, but the zoo itself was blah. For the price, and how big the place is I feel that there should be more to do. Not even sure what that would look like and no suggestions for what those things to do would be, but it just felt like a nice walk. "Oh look, the elephant." It doesn't take long to look at an elephant. It's cool. But really, how long do you need before you say, "Yup. I have now seen an elephant in person," and move on to the next animal? That's the zoo. And it really felt like there wasn't enough to see for the price of admission. Maybe I'm just not a zoo person.

This is one of the best zoos I've ever been to! The animals have so much room to roam around and explore and though zoos usually make me sad this one made me very excited. There are so many animals here other zoos simply don't have and it was very fun to see them up close and personal. Though some animals were away due to the cold weather I still feel like I had a great time. This zoo is also very clean and well kept which is always good. The bathrooms and other facilities are clean as well which is definitely a bonus. When we went for whatever reason there were barely any people so it was like a private tour of the zoo all by myself! That was definitely a once in a life time experience. Also, there's a petting zoo here which is something many zoos don't have so that's fun for all ages to stop by and pet some goats/sheep.
I was also here for illuminights and had a great time there either. The zoo is transformed and instead of live animal exhibits you got to see the park lit up with the animal light displays around the zoo. An unexpected bonus was that the pandas were still out so we got to see a sneak peek at them at night too! Overall, it is definitely worth the time and money to stop here and see the animal - you won't regret it.
You can! We bring entire lunches in and use the tables to eat. You just can't take food into the exhibits like the reptile house or what have you. There is also the option to bring a cooler and eat in grant park at a pavilion.
Yes. We visited last month and I bought tickets online while we were on the way to the zoo. They will send the tickets on the email address you provided with a barcode which you can show at the booth. There was a separate line for those who bought tickets online
He was born in Texas at Gladys Porter Zoo and lived there for 15 yrs before being sent to Cincinnati Zoo to be in a more social habitat to learn more adult gorilla behavior. He was only there for like 2 yrs when the incident with the boy happened, very sad. It really makes me mad to think he lost his life because some parent couldnt watch their child :(
Though we do have giraffes on property, they are currently not visible to our guests and will not be until the completion of our Grand New View project in 2019.
After I researched, I found that yes. The DD214 is proof that she was in the military, and will work there. Also, the veteran stamp will work aswell. So long as it has the V. It's fine. Also, just so you know, I did call and this info is straight from the Zoo itself. So don't worry about it. And have a great day.
You should receive 50% of at the Atlanta Zoo and 10% of at their gift shops. The Georgia aquarium in Atlanta is not AZA and therefore gives no discount. You can visit the aquarium for 1/3 the price of you but tickets online for the evening only (meaning you can't enter until 4pm). The zoo is wonderful, but I honestly wouldn't recommend the aquarium. It just wasn't worth the price + $15 parking. I just visited and this was true for me. You can always check your discount by looking at the AZA reciprocity list available here: https://www.aza.org/reciprocity
The Zoo is open everyday with the exceptions of Thanksgiving and Christmas. You can rent the Zoo video at your local library and visit for free or the fee is $27.99 adults at the gate and $19.99 for kids at the gate. You get a discount if purchase tickets on line. My twins loved it. Awesome event for the family.
Splash Fountain was open and Poppin! 😂 Most of the rides and attractions were also open. I think only the rock climbing was temporarily closed during our visit. But, after getting in as much hang out time with the party animals as our hearts desired...we went running 🏃🏽♀️ through the 💦⛲fountains,⛲💦 took the zoo train 🚂 🚂🚃through the property 🛤️ and rode the carousel 🎠🎠
Do you get a discount or free ticket for your birthday ?

No, but you can get a free pass through your local library!
Here are some other cool offers!
https://atlantaplanit.wabe.org/2018/01/25/how-and-when-to-get-free-admission-to-popular-atlanta-attractions/
Maybe a good 4 hours. You would wannna eat before you get there though. The food prices are similar to that of the Georgia aquarium. Cheeseburger with bacon and fries is $10.50, grilled chicken club sandwiches with fries are $10.50 and drinks are $4.75-$7.75. That's the best you're gonna get.
We plan on going tomorrow and wanted to know if we can bring our dog? He is not a service animal.

Pets are not permitted in the Zoo with the exception of service animals. Due to the nature of some Zoo areas, service animals may not be permitted in some areas.

We went yesterday while it was pouring and saw a ton of animals. All the reptiles are inside also the sloth and a couple monkeys were inside. We saw all kinds of birds, sun bear, lion, elephants, red panda, giant pandas. Wear a poncho and have a good time!
We are an AZA accredited Zoo. We have many habitats containing over 200 species of animals. We do not have "interactive" areas as in electronic for our guests. However you are able to interact with the animals. Please check out https://zooatlanta.org/activity-type/wild-encounters/ to check into a Wild encounter.
That depends on how long you will stay at each attraction, but I'd say you could do it all in about an hour and a half. If it's crowded it might take longer to get through.
M-Fh $27, F-Sun $30. They are requiring prepurchase of tickets with a specific arrival time.
https://shop.zooatlanta.org/Webstore/shop/ViewItems.aspx?CG=1&C=1
When we were there last there weren't many people there because of the pandemic. But even if there is a good bit of people you are guaranteed to have fun.
No designated rv parking onsite
That I could tell. However there is ample space for an rv on slow days. There was a semi parked while we were there.
Also, there is rv parking on the backside of the zoo on the other side of grant park.
Five min walk through the park will get you to the zoo.
It depends on the day you go. Monday - Thursday $24.99+ tax. Friday - Sunday $27.99 + tax. The tickets are timed and must be purchased online but they aren't strict if you are a little late. It is worth it!
They are open now. You are encouraged to wear a mask, if you can. They have marked-off spots to observe animals for social distancing. And they've organized the walking through of the park in one direction, so you can see & do it all safely. They wipe down the rides after each use.
It took us (we also have 2 toddlers) 3 hours with extras like feeding the giraffe, getting ice cream and riding the train. We got there at 9 am. Have fun!
Hello Jessica. To answer your question ticket prices through the Zoo are as follows:

We had a 6 year old and a 2 year old. 2 year old was mostly in a carrier (who also walked a bit) we also took a 30 min lunch break and we were done in 2 hours and 45 mins.
Zoo Atlanta is open year round but is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Check our website for daily hours and additional information to help plan your visit.
Yes. Mask are required at all times and social distance is encouraged also. You are outside the whole time except a few exhibits. I like it also because their are signs everywhere directing you.
There was a few booths and eateries closed, and one exhibit was undergoing maintenance. Other than that it was all great. Actually, last week was the best visit to the zoo I've had.
On July 4, 2020, we will be open from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. Last admission is one hour prior to closing. Check our website for a list of the day’s activities a few weeks prior to your visit.

Are you open on Easter Sunday and if so what time do you open?

When you post a question to Google Maps, it's a way of soliciting community opinions. This is a specific question that requires asking the business directly, so you'd do better just to call them (or maybe send a Facebook message if they're active there).
Ramada Plaza is the closest, Country Inn and Comfort Inn are also close. All are near Turner field. The Social Goat Bed and Breakfast is also extremely close and very nice if you'd like something different. I bet you could even hear the zoo animals from there! If none of those options work, downtown area hotels are all a short drive or Uber away.
Only a handful of animals like the giraffes and in the bird house. Otherwise, you have to plan ahead and do a specific animal encounter for additional money. The African Safari area, however, is closed until this summer. So, the giraffes are off exhibit until then.
Zoo Atlanta has wheelchairs for rent. From their website:
Manual and electric wheelchairs are available for rental at the Zoo Atlanta Trading Company Gift Shop or at Safari Outfitters, both located just inside the front entrance. The electric wheelchairs are limited in number and available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted.
Manual wheelchair: $12 + tax/day*
Electric cart: $28 + tax/day*
The minimum age to rent an electric wheelchair is 18. There is no age restriction for manual wheelchair rentals.
The Sloth Team has chosen a total of six names to suit the youngest animal in their care – three for a boy and three for a girl. You can find out more (including the link to vote) on the home page of our website.
Standing electric scooters like Bird and Lime can be used to get to Zoo Atlanta but are not allowed on Zoo grounds. However, seated ECV scooters are available for rent. Please visit our website or call for additional information.
Ride safely!

Your best bet is a city pass if you want to to a few things at a discount. Sometimes employers use RARES or similar programs. You may be able to save by purchasing online.
You can check an educational video which tells you all about how the zoo started from the library and get a family of 4 in free on week days. I'm not sure how many libraries actually have the DVD but it's definitely worth a call to your local one to see.. Pretty sure all the "Pines" libraries have it available from time to time.. Good luck!
We went to the zoo on 10/13 played in the playground and I don't remember telling the boys that we weren't going to ride the train. Definitely call the zoo.
We have both manual and electric wheelchairs for rent. The Manual are $12.00 and the electric is $28.00.

Adults (12+) are 25.99 plus tax per person, children (3-11) are $17.99 plus tax person, children 2 and under are free. Purchasing your tickets from our website can save some money.
You can meet and feed one of our elephants during a Wild Encounter. Days, times, prices, and additional information can be found on our website under "Visit" then "Experiences." We look forward to seeing you!
The Zoo is open 363 days a year, rain or shine. We are closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. We do close early for three events - Brew at the Zoo, Beastly Feast and Sippin' Safari. These events are always noted in advance on our website.
Regarding weather- The animal's safety and well being is extremely important. If there is rain, as well as cold or hot temperatures, the animals who call Zoo Atlanta home are given "access", which simply means they are allowed to choose whether they are outside, inside or a combination. It is completely their choice. Please note that most of the animals' inside habitats are not visible to our guests.
Thank you for your inquiry and we hope to see you soon!
They have library passes, which are very hard to come by. I've never heard of free days unless its a partnership with a company or something. If you know someone with a membership, try to go with them! A family membership gets 4 kids in for free.
Petting area for adults and kids, train and carousel rides (combo tickets better or wrist band), playground area, ovethead rope climb and one swing attachment like Stone Mountain, rock climb wall, fake tatoo painting for kids, animal shows, and a show at the reptile house where the select kids from the audience and more.
I purchased a city pass. Its was 76$ per adult and 61$ for a child and it included admission to the zoo, aquarium, world of coke a cola, CNN and more. Otherwise tickets 22.99 adult and 16.99 child.
Of course this is one of the best Zoos in the country. There are a variety of species to explore. I also like how the Zoo Keepers interact with the animals and the facebook page gives daily& weekly updates. It's a great place for families.
I'd look on their website. They have different rates. We got the City Pass and paid $75 or so to get into the aquarium, the Coke factory, and the zoo. Well worth it!
I just went last weekend and it was still a great time. Of course it will have more to offer when the new exhiy opens, but its like $23-$27. That is a great price for all that it already offers
They do not have charging stations please don't just plug your phone in anywhere. Try charging your phone before you go somewhere, or keeping a car charger.
It is open, but check to see if the animals are going to be out. If the weather is too cold, they won't be out.
We took our family this past weekend, and A LOT of exhibits were not open for viewing.
Most of the animals will be out in the view but some who doesn't like colder weather will not be viewable. You will see the sign informing you as you walk.
If its the slightest bit cold all but 10 kinds of animals are indoors w/o a viewing Window of any kind.they still charge 1/2price to see pandas & some birds & parts of the petting zoo...
DONT GO UNLESS ITS WARM !
Or you wanna see 4 pandas & birds.
Well its around Thanksgiving right now, so it's not winter yet but the hours of operation right now are 9:30-4:30. I would assume the hours may be similar in the winter. Not as many options as far as which animals are out, but they have some animals (mainly birds, reptiles, smaller animals, and i believe pandas and maybe a couple more) to see, they have a playground open for the kids, as well as some shows and/or rides(mainly for kids) available, and some kiosks for food/drinks and shops for zoo atlanta items for purchase.
Are they open Sundays
