Favourite ski area in Colorado. It is located in a remote area with beautiful scenery and massive powder dumps. Very affordable compared to other resorts in Colorado. It only has one ski shop and a restaurant. Driving Wolf Creek pass can be treacherous - especially in snowy conditions with limited visibility.

Finally got the chance to spend a little time in Pagosa Springs and ski Wolf Creek. Very cool terrain and awesome vibe. Out of the way place with amazing amount of altitude! Totally different vibe than the I-70 areas near Denver.

Wolf Creek Ski area was great! It is a massive ski basin with a lot of runs for everyone. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner, intermediate or expert, there are slopes for all of the ski levels! They even have some area for cross country skiing. The facilities are nice as well. The ski shop is large and typically busy in the mornings. The snow board hut is small but they have plenty equipment. If you can buy your lift ticket online or rent your equipment online I would recommend it. I could not during this trip. All of the facilities were nicely maintained. The bathroom was very well keep and clean for a ski resort. The hot chocolate was not very good but the hamburger was decent. Wolf Creek Ski area gets the most snow in Colorado. This year has been a 'down' year according to locals but the slopes we're still fantastic! I would highly recommend coming here.

Wolf Creek is a fantastic mountain! Smaller than some with limited amenities. How ever the snow they receive is fantastic! The most in Colorado! No joke! Friendly staff! Great tree runs. Typically no lift lines. Runs for all from beginning to extreme some great hiking available.

Ski instructor today said they will be open on weekends through April
First day beginner ski package is $74 First day beginner snowboard package is $77
Wolf Creek does not allow overnight camping in our parking lots; however a mile east on U.S. highway 160, there is an overflow parking lot that can be utilized.
I second the sign up for classes. Even if you're relatively athletic you'll end up being frustrated and creating some pretty bad habits. Of note I've been boarding for 10 + years and everybody's first day is miserable, make sure you give yourself 2 days to get a better experience!
Definitely a beginner friendly place to go. They have a few lifts that slow down very slow when picking up and dropping off, but still go quickly up the mountain. Follow the main wide trails and it's perfect to learn on.
From their website "WE DO NOT HAVE HELMETS OR CLOTHING FOR RENT Helmets and ski clothes are for sale at Treasure Sports" but Docs sports in south fork does and i believe a few places in pagosa.
Yes, Thanksgiving day, Christmas day, New Year's Day, 7 days a week, no matter the day the ski area is open regular hours.
I do not know Colorado law I would suggest you do as John said and check with Wolf Creek
Always check wolfcreekski.com Most likely they are.
I've never been there on my birthday, but I don't think so.
Order lift tickets online. Also schedule a time online to get your rental equipment from Pagosa Springs shops. COVID restrictions limit the number of people in their stores.
Yes, we were there last week and most, if not all, of the lifts were open.
Hi Tyler! Conditions are great! Wolf Creek has had over 270 inches for the season and currently has a base depth of 72 inches (6 feet). Here is a link for the snow report... https://wolfcreekski.com/snow-report-page/
Hey man after season is over you can go for free down to Alberta lake cuz they are on national Forest land. Been going for30 yrs
Tubing on top of wolf Creek pass, over 50 inches of snow as of this morning
Hi Sandy! Wolf Creek Ski Rental has skis and snowboards available, as well as cross country skis. The Rental does not offer snow shoe rentals.
Hi Arron! If it is your first time skiing/snowboarding a lesson would be helpful. 1st Day Beginner Packages start at $78 and include 4 hours of lessons and access to the beginner lifts. Details on the 1st Day Beginner Packages can be found by visiting https://wolfcreekski.com/beginner-skisnowboard-school-group-lessons/ Rental pricing starts at $20 for ski and $32 for snowboards.
Hi Matthew! Wolf Creek will usually be able to allow overnight parking for RVs and vehicles. However, if Wolf Creek is in a large storm cycle and snow removal is needed in our parking lots during the night we may ask that you find another place to stay. If we are able to accommodate you we ask that you abide by the "Leave No Trace" principle. We do ask that you call us prior to staying in the parking lot so we can coordinate with Base Operations. The phone number to call is 970-264-5639.
You can fly into Durango and take a shuttle in.
Wolf Creek does not have a gondola. I do believe the mountain is open in the summertime, but they don't run the lifts. I believe it's all on National Forest land.
My understanding is there are no discounted lift tickets except on the locals days listed on their website.
Usually on Wednesday a couple times a month, check there websites
Pagosa springs if you go west. To the east is the place "National Lampoon Vacation" was filmed. They have cabins. Look up South Fork Colorado and embrace your inner Griswold.
Yes there are rental shops. $30-$50
Only child care is if the kids are in ski school getting ski lessons, no other child care
Totally busy, lifts are operating from 9am to 4pm I think. Get there early or stay late for less crowded skiing. 10am-2pm is the busiest. Also head to Alberta for more seclusion. Enjoy!
Absolutely open, 5 inches of fresh snow and more in the forecast! Come on up.
Welcome to the Wolf Creek Ski Area Website ** Light to Moderate Snow Currently Falling ** Wolf Creek has received 61″ of snow so far this season, bringing our all-natural snow depth to 25 inches at the midway. Conditions are hard pack, packed powder with powder in the trees. Lot’s of new snow currently falling should yield a beautiful Holday Ski Weekend. Early season conditions are excellent ! There has also been extensive grooming of much of the lower, middle, and upper-mountain. Ski with caution and watch for obstacles. Eight lifts are currently operating 7 days a week from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm— including Holidays Come on up and enjoy your Thanksgiving Day here with us on the mountain. Lifts will be operating all day, and the Upper Lodge will be serving a festive Cornish Game Hen meal in Celebration We have excellent early season conditions with 90% of the terrain open for all ability levels.
Last report I heard the snow was good. Would have to check out the website to see if they will be open through the week.
Early season is weekends only. Thwt are open 7 days a week now.
No tubing or sledding in ski area, you have to go one mile up the pass.
Might be looking at a trespassing charge if you get caught on the mountain before its open. I'm not sure what that fine would be at WC. If you were In summit county (Keystone-Breck) it might be less than a lift ticket ($125)! Good luck and don't get caught
Unfortunately they closed for the season on april 1st. If youre wanting to slide on yhe snow now Arapahoe basin is your best bet in Colorado. (Sorry for promotion for another resort, love you wolf creek)
Wolf Creek is the name of a ski area
Not likely, it will be the busiest week of the season by far.
It will usually just be windy at the top. Once you get down the mountain a bit the wind will die down.
You can rent from multiple places in Pagosa Springs and or at the mountain, depends on if you want to transport your gear or not.
The first weekend of April is the closing day. Per the website, April 1st this year. If the snow is good enough they might open for a couple of weekends in April, but not weekdays.
76 " base.Then we git 18" of powder.snowboarders abounded
If you're staying in Pagosa, a lot of the hotels have discounted tickets you can purchase, other than that there are no discount ticket offices in town.
We did ski school from 10-12 then had lunch and came back at 1pm until 2. Lessons came with lift tickets which were about $70 per person. Keep in mind this was beginner lessons.
No but if you make a reservation your skis will be sitting there waiting for you and you won't have to stand in line waiting. You'll need at least 10 people. No group discount but the skis will be set and waiting. January 3rd is after the crazy Christmas/New Year's rush so you should have a great time and no real crowds.
Too add, NOAAs climate prediction center isn't looking too good for precipitation in Colo these next two months or so
The Wal-Mart in Pagosa has clothes. Wolf creek rents everything else they have helmets
$70 for adults and $36 for children
Correct. 1/2 day, 1 day, 3 day and season passes
