I second the sign up for classes. Even if you're relatively athletic you'll end up being frustrated and creating some pretty bad habits. Of note I've been boarding for 10 + years and everybody's first day is miserable, make sure you give yourself 2 days to get a better experience!
The beginner class includes a lift ticket, it's practically a free lesson. 10/10 would highly recommend!
If you don't take classes, skiing or snowboarding, you are a danger to yourself and to those around you!!! You are liable if YOU injure someone else too!!!
Hi Kathy, Wolf Creek offers great lessons for beginners. A 1st Day Beginner Class is ideal for those who have never snowboarded before. This package is designed for snowboarders ages 9 and older and includes an all-day lift ticket to the Nova and Lynx Lifts (beginner lifts), four hours of professional instruction (from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and access to the Raven, Elma and Charity Lifts after 3 p.m. You will learn to heel-slip and stop. Upon acquiring these skills, students will then learn how to load and unload the beginner lifts and navigate green terrain. Does not include equipment rental.
Take the classes. You'll enjoy it much more if you have some working with you your first time. Remember the warm waterproof gloves. There is nothing worse than trying to get up with wet cold hands!
Definitely make reservations for classes, sometimes they are full. First time snowboarders should wear wrist guards.
Classes!
A lesson is highly recommended, lots of great instructors that cater to people of all age groups.
Sign up for classes, I went New Years and took classes. It was awesome!!!
You can go own your own. However, I would not recommend that. I've been going for over 10 years and you can get seriously injured. You can sign up for classes. The instructors are super helpful and friendly. Just my 2 cents, cheers!
