I had a wonderful experience! I was interested in three dogs and decided 8 month old Latte would be a great fit with my other babies. Oh, her name was slightly changed to Mocha Latte!
Jennifer McFadden
My daughter chose a wonderful 10 week old brown tabby named Elsa. She was a shy timid girl that has blossomed into a smart, affectionate lovebug 😍. They are both going to have a happy 😊 ever after ❤ her new name is Alice.

Me and my 5 year old adopted our newest family member from ACPS. He is a great boy and fits right in with our family. Staff was super helpful and i liked how all the info was posted on the outside of the cages. Wish i could take them all home! 🧡
Lois Haynes
I was able to foster my girl before deciding to adopt her. We had to make sure she was a good fit for our other dog. She's so happy.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
It varies by month and will depend upon your county of residence. If you live in Duval, then it will be $20 for the city license plus the adoption fee which is usually around $20.
Yes! Please post to respective Facebook pages too! Thank you for helping this baby!
I cannot be certain as I had used a vet office I worked for, for all my pets vaccines, but a quick phone call can help confirm whether they do or not.
I'd just go up there to be completely honest. Or maybe Florida No More Homeless Pets
Yes, but if it was your dog you're surrendering, they will charge you.
Want to get two kittens. If anyone knows of a litter plz let m known. Bc I have looked for one and every time they are out.
Contact the acps and ask them what you need to do. Follow their instructions and contact a vet that will work with you. I take my animals to the Jacksonville Community Pet Clinic. They work with me and allow me to pay as I need to. Good luck with your pets. I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Checked for a small dog for a few weeks no luck they always have med to large breeds,I just don't have the space for
When I was there I didn't see any but I didn't see all the dogs either.
Public intake is open from 8a-12p, though you will have to make an appointment for an owner surrender. The adoptions side of the building is open from 12p-7p
Please go in person and look through every kennel even the closed ones.
If they were abandoned take them to animal control they are a no kill place now
I believe they do. I would call and ask.
Some of them know more commands than others. They'll usually say on their info card.
Call their office, they can inform you of age requirements and policies.
No, but if a pet is adopted they give you free toys , free food for your pet , also free collers and a little of different items like clothes for little pets 😀
I do think there's a fee but you can always call and ask to be sure
If you take any pets to Animal Care and protective services you have to pay for them to take them . But if you happen to find and pick up a stray they will take them without payment
No they sure don't I rescued my American Bull Terrier from there of course because he was a shelter dog they neutered him I had asked them a few months back about helping me with vaccinations because of my financial situation and they said they do not do the vaccinations and such there they recommended I go to the Jacksonville Humane Society
Yes. The owner is required to keep the dog contained.
There is no number that takes you directly to that building. The number given takes you to the city where it gives you several options for reaching several different buildings. You have to choose the option for the Animal Care and Protective Services from those options.
I was there yesterday and they're doing a big adoption thing and yes they have small dogs. I looked through the book while I was there returning the flea meds they sell you when you adopt dont buy it. It made my 5 week old puppy loose all his fur on his behind like middle of body and back. Vets at banfield tested emfor everything and it is the medicine. And it also did the same to my 8 year old that I got the next size up for her. His hair still isnt growing back. And make sure you look at your receipt because we bought 2 boxes but only had 1 on receipt so she pocketed our money, they cant find the transaction but they can find us adopting him and buying the 1 size flea meds but not the other so we cant get out 120$ back. So be careful. But yes adopt a fur baby! I have 3 now 2 from this shelter
Call 904-630-CITY and select the menu option about animal control. And they'll ask for address and come pick it up
Go to the shelter and look at the dogs they've found. If she was chipped and had current info, they would have called you to tell you she was found.
I hope this info helps, or call 630-CITY (2489). Licensing City License: $20 Annually Replacement Tag: $6 Late Fee: Between five days late and 45 days late there is a $25 late fee. After 45 days it is a failure to license citation at $250. Hi. Go in and find the kitten that you desire fill out the forms and go from there.
They do intakes Tuesday - Friday 8am - 12pm ... Stop by there office ... 🤗
Are you referring to chihuahuas?
Free if you opt to care for and love one of the many strays that are out and about in Jacksonville,
Yes!!! Thank you. They open at noon. In the back of the lobby near the double doors to the courtyard there is a large stone circle for donations. If you need help bringing them in ask the folks at the desk. Again thank you from all the furry guests
Yes, you can surrender your cats here, and depending on the circumstances, you may have to pay a fee to do so.
It is a city agency, but that doesn't mean they don't need donations. We just brought two 30 gallon trash bags full of stuffed animals. We walked through to see the dogs and noticed only some had blankets (sad).
They have been a no kill shelter since 2014 I have been told
Went up the other day, because I have 7 kittens I'd like to find homes for. I found out they will only take kittens under 2lbs, if they're over they'll tell you to take them to FCNMHP to have them fixed & ears clipped. Then you either find homes for them or let the go free to a feral colony I guess. I'm not sure of other options.
Trap and realease is done through First Coast No More Homeless Pets. Contact them for times and requirements.
Prices start at $10
The wildlife rescue coalition helps with that.
Honestly don't know enough info to give you
Jacksonville Humane Society has a lot
Yes you can call them and file a claimant about what you are witnessing with the animal of concern but it may take them a few days before they come out tho, so don't expect a same day visit, although it's possible they come out depending on how serious you say the situation is!!!
Go on the website and look at the intake or go up there and show them a picture
All dog adoptions are $20
No! ACPS is a part of no kill Jacksonville. They will house pets as long as it takes to find them a home! When the shelter is getting full, sometimes pets are transferred to The Jacksonville Humane Society. ACPS also provides the cats and kittens that you see in some of the PetSmart Adoption Centers.
$20.00 for month of May. Vaccinated, fixed and chipped
Only dogs and cats. A place like Petsmart would be a place to go to.
Animal Care and Protective Services, give them a call and see if they are doing intakes. Hope this helps.
Call animal care and protective services they are great and care for and re-home them, God bless you
If you Google do all County Courthouse and then go through traffic portal or the lake and put the citation number your name will pop up and you can pay for it online
You can see all adoptable animals on the website.
Yes. It really depends on weight. My dog is 12 years old and has his days he doesn't want to eat, but usually I have to sit there and convence him that he has too eat (sometimes 1 morsell at a time..... They're just like babies at times. ) Theres a vet department next to the shelter. My husband and I just took our Laura-Li in,we thought we were going to have to put her down. They took her in and did whatever it took to find out what was going on. Turned out that she had a Savere of authritis. She is up and all-over the house now!
Yes
The wildlife rescue on Seaboard Ave.
If your dog is in the shelter you should be able to retrieve him, especially if you have photographic proof or documentation. Additionally if he was micro-chipped and registered you shouldn't have any issues getting your furkid back.
They don't see its as outpatients and you have to have an appt to surrender. I'd do what Charlene said and call FCNMHP. If it's a surgical complication it may be covered.
Unless the cat or dog needs a surgery like being spayed or neutered, or they have a stray hold, yes same day.
Yes
Any vet clinic or hospital will check for free.
Sorry no
The best bet is to email or go there. The city phone number listed isn't exactly helpful
It's free in August according to their website
Yes
We got ours for $20 or $30 bucks, not too expensive
You can take it to Animal Care and Control. 2020 Forest Street. They are a no kill kennel
Yes they will have animal services come out or call 611
We dont have her.
Yes go to this location. Animal Care and Protective Services 2020 Forest st Jacksonville, FL 32304 They usually have a small adoption fee but they will probably give you some goodies to take home for your new family member.
Yes there is a surrender fee of our 25
You can also just go there and talk to them about volunteering
Good luck iv been calling about a starving dog that was dumped at a park for a over a week and nothing has been done nor can i get anyone on the phone.
As long as they aren't feral.
I would go to the humane society I am not an employee. I do know that the HS will take them I would call them first
Contact animal protective services immediately. You can even contact your local law enforcement for ASPCA especially if the animals are in danger.
Animal protective services Do you have the Email address? Thanks everyone
It's not my shelter
They are and then you register the chip when you get the dog home.
We walked in an adopted a dog, so I don't think you would need an appointment.
If you go to the foja.com webpage, it will give you a number to call. That number will have to option to report strays.
Yes hard to get in touch they r closed today I called a few days ago and no one return the call.
And sometimes they have free adoptions. Give them a call. You'll not only save a life but get a great companion.
You call animal control. They usually won't call you.
Yes. Be sure to say it's a stray you've had only a few days or they will charge you $25. The drop off times are Tues-Fri 8-12.
If you can tell me how you accomplish this, then please let me know how you do it. All calls are referred to 630City and then you just wait.....and see what happens!
Take him in for tonite then you can take him to ACPS (or any vet) to get scanned for a chip n the morning.
There online page is incorrect. Can only drop off strays from 8am to 11am. And the regular side closes at 5pm most days
Thank you everyone.
May prices: Dogs under 30 lbs $60 All others $20 * $20 City license fee may apply They often have adoption events with no adoption fees. Check their Facebook page for these.
I think if they did they will see somethings need to change.
I think it is $20 plus city license ($20) right now
Check the jobs section at coj.net.
How many puppies are for adoption because I don't see any in their website
Yes Monday thru Friday 8 to 11am.
There's a chance I couldn't say for sure. The best thing is to come and look for yourself. Just in case bring proof of ownership.
I don't think ACPS comes to get animals except in cases of abuse or neglect. You can contact First Coast Not More Homeless Pets (FCNMP) for a trap and drop it off at no cost for medical care. But you'd have to call or check with FCNHP website for info on that.
Not sure . But usually 25 to 50 dollars with an appointment. But if its not crowded walk in are usually fast. Best to say you found it . Dogs they keep until the owner claims them or the next adoption.
I'd call to get the best time. Just so they don't turn you away, because they are normally pretty busy.
Yes you can
Call them. This channel is for customer service questions.
They are right. They will charge you a fine for your dog escaping. It will probably be over $150
Yes just go to the local tax collector's office with your paperwork
Call 630-city if not you have to take the dog to animal shelter downtown you could call them at certain times they prefer you to bring them in
Depend on if they are your cats or if you found them...if yours it's like $35 but if found they will take them at no fee usually
Go to www.coj.net/pets and you can see the dogs we have.
Call ACPS. They should be able to come get the dog
They may be able to help, but I know they are over-run with cats. You might try some of the other rescues, like S.A.F.E, or check neighboring cities & counties ❤😺
You have to make an owner surrender appointment first before bringing the pet into ACPS. Call soon because the appointments are only on Thursday and they only do 10 a day. So the slots fill up quick. It's (904) 630- CITY.
Call Animal Control
The hours are: 8:00 to Noon. You have to make the appointment at 2020 Forest St. When you get there and look at the building, the turn-in location is at the left end of the building
Is the ear clipped? If the kitten isn't adoptable they will fix, clip, and release back at your address. I've had to find homes for the ferals I've trapped and fixed myself.
Would be best to call & find out.
Yes, every animal is spayed/neutered and they get a rabies and FVRCP vaccinations
U could take the responsibility also n let them out n walk them n play with them
You need to contact the Humane Society or Animal Control in your county. The Duval shelters offer income-based care. Check out their website for details.
Yes, by all means take them to the Human Society as soon as possible. Your health is more important than trying to rescue homeless cats. Share the love with others, stay healthy so you can care for your family first and the other cats you decide to keep. God bless you all.
They have different animals come in everyday. You just have to catch it on the right day. They don't last long.
No. I didnt have to pay to surrender when momma cat had kittens in my shed.
They are full and they are a kill facility. Please try to rehome her elsewhere
They euthanize animals that are beyond help. They do not kill because of over population
Sounds like parvo. Next time Google home remedy for parvo in dogs if you don't have money for a vet. I've saved 3 so far by giving chicken broth, activated charcoal, Pedialyte, pepto and chamomile tea.
Fcnmhp has a food pantry once every 6 weeks at the cassat ave location. They have it posted on their webpage. Also, the humane society on beach blvd has one every Saturday. It starts at 10 am and you can go once every 30 days.
You must go there and ask I know it's a application and a class to foster.
Your best bet is to go to the shelter it's self and look for him or her post a pic with phone numbers anything but Wait !! The longer you wait the more time for your baby to end up in the system !!!
Animal care and protection doesn't monitor this I would call or visit them.
You have to make an owner surrender appointment. Come to the shelter between 8 am-12 pm Tuesday-Friday, to make the appointment, make sure you have your photo ID with you. Don't bring your cat with you the day you make the appointment.
Emerson kennels.
Keep them in different rooms.
Rabbits are allowed in Pet Friendly Shelters, in the event of an evacation, during hurricane season.
I have seen some at beach Blvd and the one on the north side.
It's best to go see the animals on a daily basis if you're looking. Don't forget about the Humane Society and local rescues as well! I recommend going in the morning.
Call police FAST.
You would have 2 call them. Show up 2morrow with all owner ship papers on him/her. But I have no idea how much.
Give them a call. I really don't remember the schedule.
MISS JADE GREEN GAVE U THE CORRECT INFO. PLEASE FOLLOW HER ADVISE.
Yes they do. BUT IF THE TIP OF THE LEFT EAR IS CLIPPED THEY WILL NOT TAKE IT. THAT IS IF IT IS A CAT. ANIMAL HAS ALSO BEEN FIXED. ITS A PROGRAM THAT JAXS SET-UP. So good luck. I know personally b cause I found a kitten an was advised the above.
Ear Plugs might be a good idea...
Surrender him to the city pound they may charge you $40.00 I am not sure how they settle voluntary surrenders . But make sure they know he isn't good around children.
florida wildlife or critter gitters
