They get you in and out pretty fast so they can get to the other trucks. Fast paced place. They'll bring the paperwork out to the truck for you so you don't have to get out of the truck at all. No red or green lights on the deck wall. Place to let your dog is the restroom outside is here.

I volunteered in the warehouse to sort and box food. It was a privilege and pleasure to help. Managers were friendly and well organized. We were able to do a great job.

Daughter needs to constantly do community service for her classes and this is a great place to volunteer hours. The restrictions, depending on the task, is either 10+ with an adult or 16+. We have gone a few times and we always choose to participate in making "covid boxes" where you're in charge of a food item that fits into a box as it passes on a conveyor belt. The shifts are three hours long with a break in the middle and the time passes by quickly. Inside the warehouse, it's clean with wonderful Disney decorations on the walls (believe they are over of the many sponsors of the food bank). I definitely recommend the food bank as a place to volunteer for community service!

Please call our main number at 407-295-1066 so we can help you find a food pantry near you. We don't distribute food to individuals but work with 500 feeding partners that we can connect you with.
This facility does not supply individuals with food. It distributes food to various local charities, who in turn distribute to individuals in need. You can call 211 locally to get connected to a charity near you.
2nd Day Harvest is a great information resource. Also, check out 4Roots in Orlando. 10 acre farm and ag center in downtown Orlando. They can give you tips or perhaps volunteer there. If you want corporations and organizations to donate food to you to distribute, you will probably want to seek nonprofit, tax exempt status ~ takes about 18 months. Or you can organize donations from local farmers and organic growers.
I remember the days when hot meals where abailable to the needy at Lake Eola, this days if you try to give food in that same place, you will be thrown in jail or fine....maybe both.
Yes, they can accommodate special diets.!!!
Call them or check out their website. I am sure they will be delighted to hear from you and help you to volunteer on Thanksgiving. Bless you.
There are several food banks in Central Florida. You can Google Second Harvest for phone number. Also look at St. Francis of Assisi website for information they may have. Also try the Salvation Army.
secondharvest is only responsible for administering food donated by companies in general and then delivering it to the institutions that are responsible for donations such as churches and other so that they distribute the food to the general public that needs that support that they provide when delivering food for free
No, the majority of the food donated is produce and boxed/bagged food stuffs. No guarantee that they'll recieve microwave prep food in donation.
No process to get cleared to volunteer. You can go to the main distribution facility and sign up, or just go to their website, create a account and sign up for the days you would like to volunteer for you and your daughter.!!!
No... You have to apply through a qualified support network.
Sorry Karen... That's not how a food bank works... The Second Harvest Food Bank supplies food to organizations designed to assist individuals in need, they don't supply individuals. Contact your local Church or Assistance program to apply for free to low cost food and supplies. Have a great holiday.!
Yes you can go on the website feedhopenow. org put in your zipcode and get the pantry nearest to you.
9 to 5
You have to qualify within your economic level to receive assistance through a state provider to receiver a voucher to receive food. Its not like a grocery store, you can't just go there to pick up your food, it is a food bank that collects and collates the food into packages to be distributed on a per need basis only.
Go to thier location to register with them, and they will provide you with full information about what would be available to you as a client. 411 Mercy Dr, Orlando, FL 32805
"Sell By" dates can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months ( depending on the food products) before the food can actually not be safely eaten.!!!
Hurricane boxes are typically distributed "After" if the aftermath of a major storm has been deemed disastrous and businesses/services have been shutdown under a state of emergency.!!!
I agree go to the local food bank for your food
It is my understanding that EBT paid the extra money for those on your situation. However, if anyone in your household was employed at the time of the disaster and your food got spoiled, google "foodforflorida". There is a government site there where you can claim that money for food only. They provide you with an EBT like card for that purpose, for employed and non qualified for EBT people only. The Second Harvest food bank has all kind of items. You can always go ask the front lobby ladies and they will tell you what to do. I do not know if they provide other pantries or if they provide individual households. But there is nothing wrong by asking. We all need to eat.
All food stamp recipients will be receiving 40% of their monthly food stamp allotment by September 22nd that should help will replacement of food if you need further assistance you can contact Second Harvest FB view information to your closest emergency food bank by simply giving him the ZIP code
Individuals can I go to Second Harvest. You can call Second Harvest and get give them your zipcode code. And they would tell you the closest Pantry to your location to get food.
Yes, bring the paperwork and personnel will sign it.
I have no idea i just delivered juice to them
I think you can walk up honestly. They're a great organization and sincerely want to help people.
I would say yes but call them 1st
Food is free , you need to call them
You do not pick up food from Second Harvest but instead from the food pantries associated with them. Look up what is the closest one to you and give them a call. Second Harvest is the distribution hub where the various food banks, pick up from.
Give them a call, I don't work there.
No. You will have to go to a local food pantry. Many in Orange County.
I would like to say yes but I'm not sure

They receive food, store it and supply food to local charitable organizations to disperse to the community. If you need food, contact one of the churches or charities they work with...they dont give out food to the public.
I dont believe they give food to the public. I believe they supply food for numerous charities who, in turn, distribute to those in need. But best bet is to call them, even if they just supply a name of someone in your area they distribute too. Also, you can call 211 for help finding assistance.
U can try ,
The need far outweighs what is donated and collected, sadly there is a huge need and there are not enough donations. I would recommend you go and volunteer so you can see for yourself how much they need to be able to help communities. I've been volunteering for over 10 yrs and I see the wonderful work they do.
Also just go inside if you are, they are helpful. Ask and they will not turn you away from getting the answers you need. Call them too. I volunteer there, everyone there is great. They open at 8

I don't think you get free food from second harvest directly, lots of churches and organisations are members of the second harvest food bank and you can get food from them.
Call Second Harvest and they will tell you where to go.
You will have to apply at your closest community center.
