I started volunteering with Orlando habitat in May 1991. It was a great experience, I learned to do a number of items and helped teach other what I had learned. In the last couple of years I have become disappointed and disillusioned with this organization. No longer do homeowners get an interest free loan, groups have to pay to volunteer and absolutely no appreciation showed for the volunteers who are referred as crew leaders. It seems money and glory is top priority. I now go to the Seminole habitat which is great.

They always have some good buys and their merchandise is very good quality. They have a great assortment of furniture, decor, building materials and miscellaneous items. They get new and gently used items. Goes to a good cause, too.

Very friendly place. We thought it was the store but a worker greeted and answer our questions very nicely

Opening on the weekend for their Orientation was great for me because it showed they cared. It was very informative and pointed me in the correct direction to get started with my journey of personal getting better.

1st go online and take a short pre-qualification quiz. If you meet certain requirements you move on to the next step. To qualify you have to fall into income requirements, basically the same income restrictions as low income housing. You have to have a need for housing, some examples are your family is overcrowded or you are living in substandard housing. You also have to be able to pay back a very reasonable mortgage. Even if you are not sure if you qualify it really pays to contact them, they are willing to work with most situations.
