We adopted 2 kittens. The people we spoke to, were some of the kindest, most warm-hearted, caring people. This is a GREAT place to get your pet. They even have little rooms where you can get acquainted with them before you decide for sure. Excellent idea!

This shelter is really a great shelter and contrary to what people have said about it "not being a no kill shelter" that is simply not the truth. Please do your own research and not go by the rumor mill. They do many wonderful things and rehab abused animals as well as work with prisons and veterans programs. Sadly, they often are overwhelmed with cats, kittens and dogs. Spring and summer are "kitten season" and it's particularly busy. So if you're considering a kitten or cat, please, please come here before going to purchase one from a home or private party. Often pet stores will hold events where HHS will be hosting pet events. Consider going to one of those and give a cat, kitten or dog their special forever home

There are so many loving animals here, and new ones come in everyday, that need a forever home. The innocence , the laughter, and the unconditional love an animal brings into a home is magical. They have wonderful people that volunteer their time to help out here and the staff is hard working and really care about each and every animal. The facility is clean and every animal is vaccinated and cared about. You can surrender an animal if you are no longer able to care for them or if you find a lost pet. If you have a farm and you want to adopt a cat to keep the varmints away, please do. They would be much happier out hunting then in a cage. The adoption side doesn't open until noon and you have to make an appointment if you want to surrender your animal. They are at full capacity, but will never turn one away.

Well it was great. We adopted gadget. Gadget is now our dog son. He came from the center and now he has a bed and two kids and he is our doodles best friend he has a kitten friend too. I am so happy that we came here. My daughter is autistic my oldest daughter and he loves her. He hugs my 7 year old and steely and gadget are partners in crime. This brings tears to my eyes knowing that i can promise and provide all you can eat and drink and so much love. Everyone when you walk inn weather it be getting a dog or a cat or even a bird or any kind of animal plz walk out with one. Each animal deserve a home. I was not leaving with out one. They are just animals plz take one home today save a life two legs or 4 all lives matter.

Good question and I see no one wants to answer it. I have had 3 dogs and 3 cats in My life, all lived long happy life's. I'm now 70 years young and applied for three dogs with no luck they was given to someone else. I believe the shelter are over full because senior like me have giving up
They have all breeds of dogs I got a American pit July 1st and believe me she is the biggest most lovable adorable fur baby you could ever find please don't hear the words Pitbull and think it's an aggressive breed it is all in how they are raised she loves children she loves cats she loves other dogs she just loves everybody and everything
All answers above are correct. I helped my son rehome his pit bull,Bella. She finally is in a loving home with 2 other pit bull buddies :) I would contact the PIT BULL RESCUES sites, Sophie's Circle, Veterinarian businesses, pet swap sites (only those that are credible)...Praying he gets a furever home sweet home ASAP, remember THEY,too have feelings...of abandonment, depression, anxiety. Give him all the love energy he needs to adjust! Good luck,Bless you!!☆♡☆
The only things required that I know of is a love for animals and being over 18 years of age.
There are multiple things that could be causing this, some minor some major. You definitely need to bring your car into your vet to be seen.
I'm pretty sure they would, but instead of doing that why don't you consider giving a home to a dog that needs one. Adopting a dog is very rewarding. Just my humble opinion.
Google this would be an employee or staff member question. Hope you locate her.
Yes they encourage it :)
Actually despite what others claim and spread false rumors, Halifax will accept it. They are an open admission shelter. If you would like to verify, feel free to call the admissions desk.
All you need is your ID and the adoption fee for puppies it's $400 (I would know I just got one) The fee drops significantly based on age 10 months $200 and I think after a year it's $100 for the dogs
Absolutely. Come in. Spend some time. They all need your love and attention and possibly a new home. We adopted two weeks ago. It was a great joy!
The prices depend on the type of animal you are wanting and how long they have been there.
You can check for job openings on indeed.com or apply on their website to volunteer.
They have groops all over the place called T.N.R ( trap nuter release) groop they are letting the cats live there life without the risk of over population of wild cats
Hi Jason, Our ability to assist the community with pet food and supplies depends on our available supply. Sometimes, we receive an overabundance of food donations that we are happy to share with the community and other rescues. However, most of the time, we are struggling to feed the animals in our care due to lack of donations. Thus, the answer to your questions is, "depends." Stop by the shelter and ask if they have an extra food available. If we do, we will gladly help you out.
Around $65 to $120
Absolutely! You can go into admissions and let them know and they'll be able to help ☺️
Hi, we don't provide vaccinations for pets, just the shelter animals we care for at our facility. There are many shot clinics. Try this one. http://www.spcavolusia.org/shot-clinics.html As to the nail trimming, most grooming business offer nail trims for dogs, as well as cats. Reach out to one near you. Hope this helps. :)
Hi, yes we have about 25 RR shirts in various sizes. They are hanging on a rack in the adoption lobby.
Hi, we do not, but Julie Shinew does and she is great! She only charges $150 and does not use anesthetic. She is a dog whisperer and dogs love her. Contact her at 419-575-1617. She works out of several different vet offices or she will come to your home. Very nice and has over 30-years of experience cleaning pets teeth. Hope that helps.
Hi Leaynna, What type of items are you in need of? We do have used leashes, collars, bowls. We have some new toys as well. We don't have used beds or crates at this time. If you are interested in the items mentioned, come to the adoption lobby and ask for Barry. I'll help you out.
Hi, our selection of animals changes on a daily basis. To see the dogs available visit https://www.halifaxhumanesociety.org/adopt-a-dog/index Thank you for your interest.
Currently they have lots of furry friends that are adoptable at 0 cost... stop by and check them out
Aww hope you find him check their website
Yes
I know they take guinea pigs
Yes!
I was there recently, spoke to one of the employees and "free adoption day" was never mentioned. Although that's a wonderful idea because their fees are quite high. As far as a comment made to "putting older ones down", I thought that was against their values of placing animals into a loving home. This makes me think twice about what they are supposed to stand for. The location in DeLand is a "no kill" agency. And their fees are much more affordable. The animals are chipped and have their necessary shots.
Depending on what you're there for. It opens at 8 A.M
I believe because that's under the category of "other" animal so you probably have to call for a price and availability. After searching these sites and finally adopting a dog they really only list prices for dogs and cats
They only neuter animals they have taken in and are adopting out.
Try looking up the phone # on line & give them a call to get some information on their policy on excepting puppies. Check with the administrator of the Humane Society Center in person so you don't get anything told to you wrong. Just wondering what type of bread these 2 are & if Male or female ??
There is also a dog training center if you go down Derbyshire street going N. from Mazon Ave. up to a Sunoco gas station on corner at light, it's behind the gas station in that plaza. But do check with the Humane Society of Daytona Beach to see what they offer. I've used & still do the grooming center next to humane society where they board your pets if you need their services & cindy is a wonderful person & groomer there. Try them out & let Brian the manager that I told you to check they out. Good luck on your ventures.
Call the Humane Society or your local Animal Control agency for information about the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program.
Is a wonderful place if you have children or just yourself to go out & look because it had been remodeled & so great. Go LPGA over 95 & at 1st light turn right & at end your there. Please come to see what we have to offer. It's adopt a pet month & also cancer month. New study out says dogs help people live longer because of your bonding & each others love for one another. Good luck.
Take the cat to the vet and quit trying to fix yourself
No, they only euthanize animals if they are injured/ill beyond medical help, or if they are vicious beyond help. If they are at Max capacity and don't have space for healthy animals, they reach out to other local rescues, sometimes they even bring animals out of state to shelters that are no kill and have space.
Call the administrative office and find out what are your options. I'm sorry to hear that..
Did you call the Humane society to see if she was pocked up.??
Just take the dog in.
Gary lankford on Mason av been using them 25 years
I really dont know the policy. However the place has a lot of people on a daily bases adopting animals.
What is the question?
Best thing to do is to call and ask. Hard to actually speak to someone until about 10:30 or so.
Any animal shelter will take those in the goodwill is also on Dunlawton port orange by B j's
They are open from 10 to 6 except Sundays(10-2). Appointments not necessary as they have plenty of staff.
Dianne, my male std poodle use to try to bite me and anyone that moved fast. The hint that I got from a trainer was when he bit at my hand instead of pulling away, force your hand into his mouth. It only took about a week an No more nipping. I think there are two things happening, first you aren't playing the way he wants ant then you are forceing your hand deeper into his mouth. Midnight is 6 yrs. old and today he is 2nd level CGC, AKC Beginner Novice Obedience and Therapy Dog. He doesn't bite or nip. Find an AKC Kemnel club and sign up for Obedience class. Don't take just one class, they need attention and practice. That will give him a feeling of security and respect for you. Good luck.
Definitely call someone..animal control??? Poor baby.
You can call them and find out its different with a size of a dog.
You would have to go out there to see what they have to offer you and see what is available to adopt & give it a new life to be happy as apart of your family & take care of it as if it were your child. Please go by tomorrow or Tues. & take a look at your convenient & don't dismiss the idea of looking Please. Thanks & have a wonderful evening. PS, wever adopted 5 years ago a support rescued maltipoo & Scoopy is marvelous, so do try it out please.
I don't work there but I have not seen any Chihuahua puppies
Today we went the word 3 puppies they go fast can you have to ask to see the puppies they keep in the very back in a Room of their own
Get him to vet regardless. All purebeds have some weird genetic health problems sometimes that most are unaware of.
So sorry for the inconvenience. There is a lost pet site at https://www.halifaxhumanesociety.org/stray-lost-animals/index but it is not always totally current. We suggest that you come into the shelter to look at the cats. You know your cat better than any one so you would be able to identify the cat better than anyone else. Our hours are 10 am to 6 pm, M-Sat., and 10 am to 2 pm, Sunday.
Need to go to their website
You would need to call them & ask but your best bet would be to go out & look at what's there because you would fall in love with something out there for sure. Try that just for yourself to see. Thanks so much & Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
Best option is to go to their website and check for adoptable pets
I agree with Allison. Rddinger is part of Halifax Humane Society and at times even have specials on spay and neuter so give them a call. But please rethink having your kitty declawed. I know people don't really think about it and I used to be one those people but it is actually a form of abuse to do that to a cat. There's always a way to show your cat where he's allowed to scratch. Good luck.
They don't really get a chance to answer questions on here often. Your best bet is to call, or go in person. The staff and volunteers are wonderful.
Go in tomorrow or call them to see if she is still available. If she is when you get there take her paperwork out of the plastic sheet to the desk up front
You would have to call and ask because adoptions go on every day & it would be so great if you can go & look at what's out there. Good luck.
You can call and ask, they'll give you all the information you need, but it varies based on whether you want to be present for the process or if you'd like its body/ashes.
What are you asking?
The most common price is 50 however, there are some cats that are lower than 50 depending on how long they have been there. Some of the cats have been there for over a year.
Your best bet is to go out there & look for yourself. There is someone there that will take you out to the kennels & you can see for yourself & ask how large or small the different breeds can get or answer all your questions you may have. I know you'll find your personal 4 legged best friend if you only GO LOOK. Best of luck. I'd love to know.
Im not to sure but thing i can say is that the dogs there have r all so cute if i have a place that is bigger i eould get a few more dogs
All you have to do is go there on Monday morning about 10am when they open.,I'm almost positive that they will take it because it isn't even 1 year's old. Somebody definitely will adopt the dog you have..
Indicates they have been spayed/nuetered.
I have never seen a baby yorkie but they do have small dogs. U have to check the shelter daily for new dogs brought in.
It's not a vet. Its the humane society. If one can not afford general cate then id strongly suggest surrendering the animal(s) to a rescue or humane society
Halifax will take them! Theyre great!
Last time I adopted a dog, it took a couple of hours, tops. Filled in some paperwork, talked to a person, went over my responsibilities as a pet owner and things like that. This was done in summer.
Fill out application after finding dog you want they will ask for picture ID then you pay the adoption fee of dog has already been spayed or neutered you can then take them home if not you may have a day or two wait while they do that and chip them before you can take your new pet home.
You might call and let them know what you want, they get dogs in a lot. Good luck!
Check them out on a regular basis. I have seen several there
Good place to start.
Their adoption fees are ridiculous for purebred dogs that are under a year old. As far as waiving fees, the best you can hope for is 10% and I'm not sure about that. The best thing you can do is call them and ask.
