My husband and I rented a car from the Alamo Rent a Car at the San Diego Airport for Memorial Day Weekend. Small issue with the initial car we had selected, but after calling Customer Service, I was directed to go back in and speak with Doreen and she would take care of EVERYTHING! and .... DOREEN took care of everything! She upgraded our car rental without any additional charge. There was no hassle, no trying to explain, she just simply was so very nice and professional and in a short time (very short time), we were on our way in an extremely nice vehicle for our Memorial Day weekend in San Diego, CA. Very happy with their customer service, with Doreen, Jonathan and the individual who we met when we returned the car. ALL very nice & accomodating!! I would rent from Alamo again in the future!!!

Our Alamo rental went very smooth. This was my only anxiety about this trip and I was sooo pleased how smooth everything went. The process to pick up the vehicle was fantastic. The people were extremely friendly and patient with our questions. When we returned, they made sure everything went well for us, which it did. Thank you for a terrific experience.

Booked via Costo Travel. Check in was okay. Waited on line as there was only one person already at the counter. All the kiosks were put of order so I needed a live person. I've actually never been to an Alamo with working kiosks. Ended up getting checked by the rep from National. Reserved a compact car (you know with these California gas prices, gotta go with the most fuel efficient) and got a nice upgrade to midsize car (2022 Nissan Sentra). Only had about 4400 miles on it. Smooth and gas efficient ride. What I didn't like/appreciate was that when I returned the car, I was charged a random $0.51 and the emailed receipt didn't explain what the extra charge was. Given that there was no damage and I returned a full tank, not sure why I was charged extra. Yes it's a small amount but if they add a small amount to everyone reservation I'm sure it'll add up to a pretty penny.

Alamo is usually my first go-to rental company when traveling, but the San Diego Airport location is the last place I will ever rent a car from. The vehicle I received was faulty, with a hole in the center console. I found out about the hole AFTER I put my sun glasses in there and had them fall through, under the e-brake. I contacted central customer service as soon as it occurred, and they annotated my reservation, and told me the car would be taken to the dealership to access the area where the sunglasses were. When returning the vehicle, the person receiving the car confirmed that my glasses were indeed down under the center console, and told me to speak with the manager. The manager told me they would retrieve the glasses and contact me within 1-2 weeks. It has been a month and a half, and despite multiple attempts to contact the San Diego office, they have been ignoring me so far, and claiming that they never found any sunglasses. Fortunately, I was able to take a couple of photos of my sunglasses jammed under the center console, so that I can at least prove I'm not making this up, as the management at this location seems to imply. My entire reservation was for $163, and I have had to spent much more to replace the sunglasses since I got no help in retrieving the old ones, and this location's complete indifference. It took me multiple calls and emails to finally reach a customer service agent (central) with enough empathy and trust to hear me out and believe me, despite the San Diego location's claims of not having found any sunglasses. This was a situation where I didn't forget my glasses, or lose them as a result of a break-in or something. For a lack of a better term, the vehicle essentially ate my sunglasses due to a defect in the car, and the location office chose to ignore me in response. So all that to say; use this location at your own risk. Chances are, you'll be fine with the rental since it's a simple car you are renting, but don't count on them for any customer service support! Also triple check the storage compartments in their vehicles for holes and openings before storing anything in them.

Yes you can out of the group that you selected, ie, any of the mid-sized SUV'S for example.
Bad news even your e-mail tells you that it is not available at the moment.
Yes to both
Yes
I would put the address in a GPS unit and follow the directions.
I think it's better to talk to them on the phone. Like old times
Quick Google search find this https://www.alamo.com/en_US/car-rental/locations/us/sant71-san-diego-airport.html
I do not know about car seats but call them. I got a great deal on an Alamo rental.
Best thing 2 do is call alamo n ask them your question ! Normally no, buy gas just before you return the car, is best & usually Cheaper if You do it ! Not them !
It depends on demand (holiday season and availability) and car size, I would do an online price check with the dates you want on an internet car rental portal. First check the price for pickup and drop off at San Diego. Then change the drop off to LAX and check the price.
take the rental car shuttle will drop you at the rental car center.
No they are closed from midnight to 4 am
I think Costco has a policy of how soon before your reservation you need to cancel to avoid a charge. I'd start by checking with them.
Yes, there is shuttle
Yes, only certain types of vehicles and purchasing Mexico insurance.
These questions go to other users and the community. Regarding contract conditions, I would send Alamo an email or would call them.
4am-midnite
I would not take a small car. SUV would be the best choice, if the price is ok. You will feel more secure. You will definately need insurance. I would take liability, theft and damage of glass. Insurance in case of un- insured or under-insured driver is a must! I'm not sure if you can have the insurance only for a part of the trip. The cost of the insurance could be approx. 1/4 of the total. Research online for a good deal.
They put holds on debit cards so make sure you have twice the balance in your account.
Yes, there is.
Should be 69 octane
Book online by price search sites to get the best value.
No deposit required. I booked through Costco so no credit card needed to hold reservation.
Debit card is acceptable with proof of round trip. And there is no extra hold on the card which is great
They have booster seats and child car seats, but they are not the best. I can never get them tight enough
When you get off the shuttle at the Rental Car Center spot the Alamo office and go there first for paperwork. (Restrooms on this level by elevators.)You'll then take either elevator or escalator to pick up car on next level.
If you are using the airport rental station, it is just a 10 min. shuttle ride away from the airport. I usually need about 30 min. in total.
There is a shuttle from the airport that takes you to the dedicated rental car center.
