Adopted my dog Zucchini from here, take all my dogs to the wellness clinic, and shop at the thrift store regularly. The staff are always so pleasant and informed. They save countless animals every year and really are an amazing organization!

Extremely dissatisfied with the customer service here. The woman at the front desk had the biggest attitude when I walked in and while visiting the animals. I wanted to adopt a cat and went to ask one question and she said “you need to leave now, we are closed for lunch.” And was literally kicked out in the rudest way possible. She wouldn’t answer any questions about the cat and it was very upsetting. I have never been spoken to like that by an employee ever. Another customer was rudely kicked out at the same time while picking up foster kittens. Such a unpleasant experience.

I always support humane societies because I am a fervent cat lover and have adopted all my cats from humane societies. However whoever works at the front desk of this humane society is unbelievably rude. After spending a good while with a sweet, tailless cat I was interested in adopting, I asked the girl at the front desk for more information. She proceeded to tell me I had to leave because they were closing for lunch. I asked if I could just have the cat’s age and a brief reason as to why she doesn’t have a tail, and she answered with “you have to leave now.” It was the rudest I have ever been treated by an employee anywhere. If I worked at this humane society, I would’ve taken the 60 seconds to tell a possible adopter about the cat in order to get her adopted. I am super disappointed, upset, and honestly just shocked. Will be going somewhere else.

I had a kitten born with a partial amputation which resulted in a need for a full amputation. They were able to offer this operation at a more than affordable price. Luke at the front desk helped immeasurably with scheduling and was very prompt, oftentimes responding outside of these posted hours of operation, helping with my own hectic work schedule. Sammy, working in the back on the felines, was always very positive and professional and double-checked any questions to accommodate my worries. I’m very happy with the progress of healing and would definitely recommend this place for any similar issues. I cannot speak for the handling of dogs, but I’d imagine it’s similar, and I’ve seen at least one dog being walked every single time I’ve arrived and left. I appreciate the professionalism in what must be a demanding occupation. Thank you all.

I have a 4 month old Shih Tzu male. Very loving and ready for a new family. Free to a good home.
Hi Gray, Our Shelter does not euthanize for lack of space. In fact, our county achieved no-kill status in 2017 and sustained a 90% or higher live release rate at our county shelter, Alachua County Animal Services, ever since. You can feel good about volunteering at any local shelter. Thank you!
I am looking for a dog
Carolyn Fletcher have you found your forever furbaby yet? If you haven't I have just the girl for you! Her name is Lily
I’ll take the dog! My baby of 13yr passed away a year ago... I think I’m finally ready for a new one!
I am looking for a small dog. How big is this dog. The reason I ask is I am handicapped and just looking for a small dog to travel with me
We recommend you call Sunrise Wildlife Rehabilitation: (352) 222-2239.
Unfortunately the shelter cannot take in animals from the public, they do have a resource page on their site that gives options for rehoming. Sometimes people see posts like this and respond as well. Best of luck! Danielle
Hi Debbie. I'm sure they will call you back. They have a lot of information on their website, humanesocietyncfl.org. They have the prices to adopt and they also have a list with pictures of the animals up for adoption.
Hi Gloraidy! Yes, rabbits are sterilized and microchipped as well. Thanks, HSNCF Management
Hi Megan, We'd be happy to help you! Your kitten can be vaccinated and spayed on the same day. Simply make an appointment online at: http://humanesocietyncfl.org/spay-neuter or call us at 352-373-5855 and follow the prompts to schedule a spay/neuter surgery. Thanks, HSNCF Management
Hi Nancy, This is a not a service that we currently provide. We do, however, provide low-cost vet care and many other services for pet owners. I do believe our local county shelter will provide euthanasia if need be.
Go to humain society on 6th street they mid can help you
Sorry i don't know but call the animal shelter
Best bet is to go in person. You can also then talk to the staff and let them know what you are looking for. There are many wonderful pets there needing goods homes. God with an open mind and an open heart. You will find a new loving friend.
Find another place to live. Shelters and rescues are over flowing people are beyond unreal dumping their animals. Disgusting
I think the age she can sign up is 17 or 18. She can volunteer with an adult with her.
You should take him to the Humain society. So he has a better chance of finding a good safe forever home
Hi Willowlefae, I would recommend reaching out to Operation Catnip. They are the experts at helping community cats.
Hi there! The best thing to do is to submit an adoption application through our website. This alerts our staff that you’d like to adopt the cat and allows us to set up an appointment for you to meet her. Most fosters love to see the pets in their care get adopted so please don’t let that deter you. Sincerely, Margot DeConna Director of Advancement
Hi Michelle, Unfortunately, we do not offer emergency services. I would recommend reaching out to Blue Pearl or the UF Small Animal Hospital.
You don't take them with you and put them in an exercise pen with toys, food water chew bones and pillows?
We do! You can apply online at www.humanesocietyncfl.org/volunteer
Its $119 to have your dogs fixed! Sometimes they have grants that will cover up to 2 dogs and once those are set up . You can bring in two more to be fixed. But there are no grants available at this time!...... but with a grant 4 dogs can be fixed!
Hello! All of our adoptable small mammals can be viewed here: https://www.humanesocietyncfl.org/adopt/small-mammals/ This website is updated in real time. Thank you!

They don't take surrenders here. ACAS might.

Hi Diedre, Our low-cost clinic is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10am until 4pm. Otherwise, we recommend calling Blue Pearl, the local emergency veterinarian, or UF Small Animal Hospital. Thanks, HSNCF Management
Hi Shyree, We would recommend that you bring him to the Humane Society, Alachua County Animal Services, or any other local veterinarian's office to scan for a microchip. Once he has been scanned for a microchip we can try to locate his owner. If he does not have a microchip, he would need to go to Animal Services for a stray hold. Thanks, HSNCF Management
Hi Elizabeth, I'm so sorry that you aren't able to care for him any longer. We offer lots of resources for rehoming pets on our website: https://www.humanesocietyncfl.org/pet-services/rehoming-resources/. Unfortunately, we are not a public intake facility. We pull the majority of our animals in from local municipal shelters. As a result, we do occasionally have space to take in pets from other sources. If you have tried all of the suggested rehoming resources, please feel free to give us a call (352-373-5855 and please leave a message) and we can try to assist you, space permitting. Sincerely, HSNCF Management

No, you do not have to live in alachua county.
They will probably take them. Hopefully they will and feed them. Hard to find someone willing to take bottle fed kitties, or any animals that little. Wish I was still in lake City to help you.... would take them in a heart beat. Best of luck. I hope it works out well. Bless you for taking care of them. So many people would leave them or poison them. Bless you.
Hi Edwin, Our Vaccine and Wellness Clinic is open Tuesday-Thursday from 10am until 4pm. Check out our website for more information: https://www.humanesocietyncfl.org/pet-services/vaccine-wellness-clinic/
Yes I would love to
Animal Control North East of town used to take unwanteds, My knowledsge/info is over a decade old. Animal Control is now supposed to be a 'no kill' shelter. Had cages outside for 'after hours' drop offs. Car ride to each place for Updated, procedures/Information inevitable. pet Rescues generally "rescue" from AC or HS. Not directly from "owners".
No
Please call the animal shelter ask for their guidance
You can transport any way that is humane. You won't have to leave crate. Call just before you go to make sure staff is on hand and they have accommodations. Thank you for caring for them.
The choices change almost hourly. They may have one today.... maybe 20 tomorrow, and none the day after. You have to go there. Even if you call there is no guarantee that the breed you are looking for its still there. Go with an open mind. There are so many wonderful dogs in the world... whatever the breed, or mix of. Don't narrow it down by breed.... found your best friend and companion with your heart.
Go back to the shelter ask for the manager she will look up your application pick out your dog and take dog and yourself back to office fir final adotion
No they cant adopt it out
Its a dog and cat pound only not other animals!
What type of pet, weight and Male or female? I'm assuming you are talking about having it spayed/ neutered.
Call their and you should have called the same day
I think it's 15$ but not sure 100%. I KNOW thaty you have to go there and get a special carrier to bring them in and take them home. They collect a deposit and you get it back when you return the carrier. So you have to return the carrier when they are open. If you just leave the carrier on the steps they charge you. The hours for the spray/ neuter areas is different than the shelter areas and they wont give you or take back the carriers
u
I don't think its free but please call there and other animal shelters.
Hi please call the animal shelter so they can tell you what kind of puppies they have. Hope you the best in your search.

Here in Gainesville they have a program called catnip, in which they collect feral cats fix them and then release them. So that is what happens for those cats that are not up for adoption. I'm not sure how they handled dogs, but I know that they have a large rescue and adoption system setup. But as one of the other users stated I would call them directly with you are questions.
If they are overstocked. The pink ladies at all hospitals take them ...... if smoke free home.
To be sure call them. But i think Silvio is right.
there available pets for adoption change regularly. There are numerous dogs and cats to choose from Give them a visit. I know that you will find a fur - ever friend
Definitely spay and neuter animals for a reasonable price. This is not a mill, they as a whole are super kind and helpful.
You could also try Alachua County Animal Services
Not that i know of. I know they dont have room. But there are dog friendly shelters available.
Mange can be hard to get rid of. When I had pets I tried several things from baby oil to harsh veterinarian approved medication. The only thing that worked was Garlic tablets. Go to you local pet store and ask for garlic tablets for dogs and cats. Your pet's skins is obviously really dry and cannot produce the protective oil coating it needs. The tablets will help. It takes up to seven days before you see results. Also, do not wash your pooch until you notice he or she is not knawing or scratching it's skin. However do wash his/her toys and sleeping areas with non toxic cleaners. Hope this helps your pooch. He/She should have a health shiny and New coat in a few weeks.
I dont think so. Call and ask. There are places who do that in Gainesville, the Huma e Society will refer you to them. You can try churches they have food lockers or pantrys and have food for people in need, eand their pets.
