They weren't helpful at all. Brought a stray to them cause they don't send anyone to retrieve the animals. Lady said that I have to call back and make an appointment to drop the pup off. I told her I didn't live there in Stockton and that I was only visiting for the weekend. She insisted I had to call back "tomorrow" and make an appointment. Only problem is, "tomorrow" was Monday and Monday they're closed. Thanks for nothing.

Very polite and on task staff. My hats off for all you do and deal with. Met a foster mom who had the dog I wanted to adopt. She was so nice. Met and interacted with the dog did some paperwork and brought him home with us. Loving getting to know our new best friend. Thanks so much to all the staff and people willing to foster these animals until they can find their forever home. You are appreciated.
Been There
Staff was courteous, professional and helpful. Our escort during the adopted viewing process was patient, and very helpful. The staff was efficient and very professional. I appreciate the assistance, the explanations and the generous sharing of staff experience. They guided and assisted in matching a perfect canine to my needs and wants for the perfect canine family member. Thank you City of Stockton animal shelter staff!
Manuel Hernandez (Manny)
A little doggie showed up on our doorstep. We gave him food, water, and bundled him. Then brought him over to the shelter. They were very sweet with him. There has been a family looking for someone just like him. Happy that he will continue to be loved.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Yes
Yes. They do take donations of any sort. The shelter is closed on Mondays, but will open Tuesday at noon
18 years of age
No haven't seen one
Still looking for a puppy?
On line
What happened? You can't get the dog back?
Im quite sure they charge a fee tho if you check their website via google and look for set dates when they do do have free vaccinations and micro-chipping on their site. Hope this answers your question. Thankz for asking! 👍
http://ww1.stocktonca.gov/Departments/Police/Animal-Services/Adoption-and-Rescue This link will take you to the shelter's adoption page and lists the requirements as well as links to adoptable animals.
You would have to call
They claim they are short staffed and lack the funds to hire more. I personally think they are jaded to the point they are ambivalent
ACT spay and neuter clinic on Alpine in Stockton
You can view the lost dogs at Pet Harbor, I would look at the adouptable dogs and lost dogs. Currently they are not charging to adopt dogs over 25 lbs. The rescues are takeing them pretty fast.
Any vet will scan the dog for a chip for free. Try a local emergency vet since most are closed if you want to do it tonight. Start there then Please post the dog on Nextdoor. It may be a neighbors dog and so many people are members of the social networking page. If your able to temporarily keep the dog (up to 30 days) please do so but contact the shelter during business hours tomorrow to make a report of the dog in case someone contacts the shelter looking for it. Go door to door and ask neighbors if its theirs or if they know who it may belong to. Post the dog on craigslist, the facebook group lost and found pets 209 is amazing at reuniting pets and lostmydoggie.com allows you to post for free, sends out a fax to local vets etc. Its alot of stuff but worth it to help pup get home and it feels so good when you are able to reconnect them with their family. Join Nextdoor, the private social network for neighborhoods, and start connecting with your neighbors. nextdoor.com/!ANNEBU
The pound just be honest and iam sure they will adopt her. Jesus C wow poor pup
Don't think so. Pay and take or up for adoption or euthanize. There's only a 3 day hold from time picked up. They're not a boarding facility; claim your animal within 72 hours. PERIOD.
Wow that's a good question I know you can volunteer to help them but I don't know when to get application but just call them there are nice group of people
Yes, every first and third Wednesday of the month from 12 pm to 2pm.
Volunteers only. Only animal control employees are paid
They give out free dog and cat food every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 12pm to 2pm.
Call the shelter when they open and tell them it's your dog and write down the dogs id num that should be posted with the pic your seeing them they will take him out of general population since he is not adoptable then you could pick your pretty up and pay whatever fees they may charge you
Call shelter and request appt to bring them the dog
Definitely. All animals adopted through the stockton animal shelter receive microchips. Take this dog to any Veterinarian office (no charge to scan the microchip) or to the shelter and they will scan for a microchip. If the dog has a microchip it will give information about the owner that originally adopted the dog. Best of luck. 😊
I have not ever seen a teapot dog there
They have FREE specials for vaccinations. Spay n Nueter. And pretty sure days give out dog food. Call or go there after 12pm [closed Mondays & weekends] and keep asking when the specials are.👍🙏
You can call them and see if they can pik them up there rilly good at helping if there are any open kennals they will come get them if not u can Craigslist free pups believe me people will pik them up asap
It is free to pick up your dog if they have it. All adoption fees are being waived at this time as well bc they have so many dogs that they are trying to get rid of
I couldn't tell you I'm sorry
Do you want to sell the experts or give them to the east place? What kind of dogs are they? He tells me to say.
Believe you can apply online at their website or pick up application at shelter.
It's always best to call before going to the office, but I don't think so. When I went to take care of something there last week, there were people standing in line for that as well as taking care of other things.
I do believe they recommend you buy your own cages.
Hi Jose. 🙂 If you are looking to adopt a dog from the shelter, they post the adorable animals on their petharbor.com profile. I'm including the link. http://petharbor.com/results.asp?searchtype=ADOPT&start=1&grid=1&friends=1&samaritans=1&nosuccess=0&rows=10&imght=120&imgres=detail&tWidth=200&view=sysadm.v_stck&text=055274&link=1894d9&alink=0f7dc8&vlink=720fcf&fontface=Calibri&fontsize=11&miles=20&shelterlist=%27STCK%27&atype=&where=type_DOG
Just bring them to the shelter. The open at noon, wait outside and someone from the shelter will come out to help you.
I'm not sure, but if that's what you want call to ask them.
They charge you to surrender you may get lucky if shelter isn't full ❤🙏
I don't know. Have you called?
Yes, but I believe it is in house only for rescued animals. Call to confirm.
I am sure they do
I'm not 100% sure, if they will or not. But the best thing to do is to call and ask.
If the animal shelter cannot help you. Go to 209pets.com post a picture and a description of your baby the date it went missing and the area it was picked up. Also check when Carter's pet store and petsmart stores are having a adoption event so you can see if your baby is with them. Hope you get your baby back.
You must wait in line for hour `n a half and you will not be treated with respect here. They do not have much selection.
Call them and ask idk but try facebook pet 209 they can find homes for ur dog
There is a dog area right there, I don't know if it pays.
No
Hello. The shelter has a website where you can search for your dog or cat. I will include the link. Scroll down and select either "search dogs" or "search cats". If you don't see your animal, I would highly recommend you visiting the shelter in person. Best of luck in your search. http://ww1.stocktonca.gov/Departments/Police/Animal-Services/Lost-and-Found-Pets
There can be a waiting line for the most popular animals. Not reasonable to expect for them to hold while others are ready to take animal home as soon as possible.
in person. open every day
I'm sure they do accept donations, check their hours online, I don't work there so I don't know protocol.
You'll need to call and check. Animals come in and out daily.
They charge to take a dog in? My son rescued a dog who was left by a levee however we already have a dog and can’t keep him. I tried to find a home with no luck and was thinking about taking him in the pound.
They do work with animal control, but I believe that you probably need to call animal control directly for removal.
Cats are only received in cat traps for safety purposes.
My daughter bought at Harbor Freights. I doubt remember cost. Could Google to call and ask. She then returned the trap for refund. Best condition including box is best.
The cats are evaluated for safety/ hostility.
Only the severely hostile cat will be put to sleep.
They fix them if not already, clip the right ear
I have never been here so I don't know. I would contact them directly.
yes just go to the city of Stockton website and go to animal services and there should be somewhere where you can click on adoptable pets and it will show a list of all of the available dogs up for adoption. All you need is your ID to adopt a dog or cat.all big dogs 25 lbs and over our fee waived and any dog including small dogs that have been there for seven days or longer are also fee waived. But little dogs that are less than 25 lb and have been there for less than 7 days are$118.50.you can come and meet a dog if you're interested in them. We have volunteers who can help you do a little meet and greet.
Call animal control
I'm not sure about a 🐈 , I adopted a cut little dog, she was chipped and spaded all her shots she only cost a donation of 37.00. I love our animal shelter in Stockton CA .
It is abuse if they are not getting fed and taken care of properly. Call animal services report the situation and they will do a wellness check on the babies and if they find unfit conditions or wrongful conditions they will handle it.
First of all have you taken the dogs to the pound??? If you are looking to rehome dogs post on facebook or other social media. Also put a description of the dogs how old they are, what breeds they might be and be honest with medical history.
No
They have a vet there but I don't know if they see dogs that are not in the shelter
Look on PetHarbor.com , they are generally a few days behind. Everything goes pretty fast there
Answer to your question. No. I was there to have. my PomChi chipped , tagged & rabied. There were lots of animal friends there please go down and check them out, who knows you may fall in love. And vice versa
All dogs at the shelters should be online they have many different breeds at each different shelter. Petco/Petsmart also has adoption days
Call the pound ask them to come pick up the dog.
I highly suggest calling the shelter but I believe they quarantine all strays upon arrival. They have to be cautious of any contagious diseases and infections that can be introduced and spread to the other animals. They are viewed by a vet and shots updated prior to being placed with the other animals at shelter.
I don't work at the animal shelter but I have seen them there.
Bad experience? I don't work for the pound. I was just really happy with my experience. '
Gwendolyn I'm not sure what the circumstances were that got your therapy animal taken from you are but I would call THE LEGAL RULE OFFICE and get some legal advise to find out what you can or can not do to get your pet back with you . Their office is located on Weber street across from the new court house. I'm sure there's something you can do?? I hope the best for you hunny. Good luck!!! May God protect your pet always!!
Yes there are plenty of animals to adopt. Bring your California i.d. to register your pet and $ 5 dollars to CHIP your new pet which will let the shelter know that your pet belongs to you.
Yes call or show up in person to claim her asap.
There was a young one that says it is part Maine Coon the day before yesterday.
I don't know you would have to call him and see sir I don't know
Please contact the shelter. This only a review site. That said, I'm sure they do. A very practical solution. I would guess they would get you an adult dog. Make sure you understand your breeds. Dogs are as individual as people. 85% of "bad dog" behavior is miscommunication between owner and natural inclinations of furry friends. Also be aware that some dogs can be unexpectedly violent. Make sure you understand your dog's boundaries before you take them home.
is your dog wearing gps collar? if mucrochipped, you register w company..i use home again...but it doesnt track ur dog it just gives owner info when chip is scanned
you should be able to..there is probably a max on hours u can volunteer until u turn 18..i know some 14 yr olds that volunteer @ tracy shelter so stockton should have similar policies...just call the shelter or go over there and talk to them..good luck!
all adoption fees are waived thru jan 31 @ stockton shelter..locally this is the best maintained shelter w/ a great staff
Can't add much to what's also been added other than to say that Stockton seems very compassionate and we'll supported by the veterinary community. While not legally bound to take your cat (they could decide not to let you adopt again--not likely) they want your cat cared for. If that can't happen with you, they'd rather you bring her in than let her go. Sometimes returned aggressive cats can be socialized by staff. Sometimes it's just a matter of not having kids, other pets, or even the physical environment. Once this is determined, the cat will be placeable.
Sergio's answer makes sense. But with the number of compassionate vets that provide services for spay neuter, and chipping, I can't help but think you are on the right track. If you take the dog in and explain your situation they might find a good solution for you. They will also be able to determine your dogs health and potential for recovery. The people there care deeply about animals. Take your fog and make your plea. The site you're getting this information from is an individual experienced with the pound. I am not pound staff only way to know is to take your dog in and tell your story.
They have hours by phone recording. Hope you can save Shih Tzu. If surrendered, don't put hold on animals. They DO have adoption events on weekends, so maybe best to get there first thing when they forst open.
They are usually over full with cats.. i think that they might have a small fee
check out the facebook pages for rehoming pets..i think it has 209 in the name of page
Yes
The vet
$19 plus a no license fee of $30 something dollars. That is IF they take it as they have a strict policy for owner surrenders.
They welcome adoption, you just have to pay fees, registration, shots, and have the cats fixed.
No they'll be put up for adoption. There's a section there for cats. I got my mom a cat from there. Her name is TunaPie and she's actually a lil dog lol! The staff at the shelter are awesome!
You need an adult to accompany you.
put a post on fb page..search stockton rehoming pets
Letting the dog loose is a crime, dangerous to the dog, and anyone who tries to help it. Please use social media, talk to your vet, ask your neighbors if they know anyone
Do you still have them. How old are they?
No, mine are just fine
Look it up on Pinterest it might give you some ideas or Google
If the animal is over 10lbs yes. If under, they charge.
Yes
I would talk to a vet. Dogs change over time as they advance in age. Before you give her up, try and find out what's wrong, as she has been your family member for 9 years. The shelter won't take her back after this much time. She's YOUR dog. The shelter is over full at this time. There is no room.
It's better to just come down to the shelter.
Boarding fees vary from $10-$18 a day depending on where they were picked up from. There may be other fees though to redeem your pet.
It should be free plus you can always say you found him but aren't the owner unless he's moved chipped to you
(dog) Pain meds, helps the dogs sleep through the night
Call the shelter and ask for info on the adoption/ foster program. 937-8274
There r a few local online sites u can post on. But there r no after hours drop boxes for animals. U will hv to wait until the shelter opens to surrender any animal
i
Yes. However, you'll have to fill out an application for volunteering. It must be approved prior to starting. Good luck and thanks for volunteering with Stockton's furry animals!
I would call. As my son volunteered at another shelter at 15
Hopefully, the dog was within its own fencing and the child reached in or over the fence. If he was on a leash, that would be a reason to stay back. However, if the child was teasing the dog, the childhood the parent close by, the parent is responsible for the child safety. The dog shouldn't be put down.
I dunno about barn cats. I think most r more intended as pets. But I do know they hv a ferral ward. They might be good for barn cats
Yes. Lots of cats. Please come down, pick up 3 or 4
They are open every day except Monday, 12pm to 5pm
Yes. Sick or injured animals are always accepted and they will help them if they can be helped
Bringing a sweet 6 year old pitbull stray down today. Can't keep him
Please come down and see. Different dogs come in and out all the time, it's first come first serve. 1575 S Lincoln St, Stockton
You have to wait until the quarantine is over to meet your needs and have rabies also I don't know if they still do it but I think they charge by the day
this is not a breed specific rescue shelter .... check online to see what's available
To get a license for your pet, it MUST be spayed/neutered. That way it cuts down on unwanted pregnancies. Of its older than 6 months, the probability of unwanted pups/kittens is greater. So you have to pay more for license. It's more of a penalty for not taking care of it when your pet couldn't have pups/kittens.
Theres a add free adoption are they fixed and shots ? Also
Call the emergency ph#. They'll come to pick up the animal, take it to the shelter.
Family members that's over 18
yeet
What does that mean?
I believe 18. But a employee has to go out with you unless your a rescue
You can go there and see and hang out with any dog you would like as long as they are not on a quarantine hold or a confiscation hold
Actually both ways. It may depend on how busy it is. But they will provide something yo control the dog
You can go in. They will even let you take an animal out to a small yard to get to know the dog.
Yes, will not allow adoption unless animals are sterilized...ie. fixed
They have a bin for the dead animals there
Your best bet would be to contact them directly to find out. They might also have info on other animal facilities or rescues that accept volunteers. Otherwise I would say do a local search online
Have no idea...call the shelter for that answer. ..sorry
You would need to contact them directly to get specifics. I do know there are certain areas of Stockton that are governed by the city, not county, so who would be dispatched to pick up an animal depends on the area. BTW you can report any dead animals too... the remains will be picked up as well
Having saw those dogs
I seen it on hinkley and main 2 days days ago at 7am
Call animal control
Yes they should with no problem
Does your dog have a chip?
Will put them in a cage and bring them to us and we'll make sure they find a good home
Spay and Neuter
You can look on their Facebook page and see some of the pictures posted of the dogs. No one really from the shelter is going to respond on Yelp or Google
I live down the street from the city of Stockton pound and I don't know the question about I think it's six months in jail and a fine
There should be.
I don't work there maybe they don't have enough people there I live down the street
If you leave them at the shelter you would be relinquishing rights to them. If you want to keep them put them in boarding for 2 weeks.
I don't know you can always call to find out
