We’ve been to the refuge in the fall, really enjoyed it. But this year we will be in NM in July. Worth the detour to visit that time of year?

The cranes, eagles and All the fowl and wildlife that are highlighted during the fall season are worth every visit you can make but even in the "off" season there is so much to enjoy ...trails in the cooler parts of the day, gift shop and visitor center are so informative. The hospitable and very knowledgeable staff want to help in any way...love love love going to "the bosque" anytime

Go early morning late evening still a very cool place all year. Won't be the same as fall but still nice.

Worth the detour at any time. There is always wildlife to be seen and the views are magnificent all year around.

Many thanks. Plan is to do a sunset and a sunrise loop, to avoid heat and have a chance of seeing wildlife. Thanks so much for your responses!

I would definitely check the weather before travelling, it will probably be very hot (i.e. +90). Too hot to walk unless you are very early in the morning.
