My family and I were actually sad when we left here. We were shocked to learn that both the bears and the wolves were socialized, and not being rehabbed. I believe they are using the guise of “education” to do this. Several of the animals were distressed; you could tell by their pacing. Enclosures are very, very small, and looked like they were falling apart. There were several sheep or goats locked in a small barn; no idea what was going on there. I felt like I was at a small zoo.

These animals are well taken care of. The facility runs on donations. The dwellings try to resemble the natural habitat as much as can be expected. Additionally, A few walking trails to choose from. Nice up close and personal experience.

An incredible place to learn about the natural world and a strong reminder of how precious it truly is. The animals are all so beautiful. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. A wonderful experience, I will be back!

Wonderful experience. Staff was attentive to all the animals needs and along with wild desires. Donations were accepted at the door, as you felt was appropriate. Was able to see many animals including bears, owls, and coyotes, many more too. Highly recommend this experience was approximately 30-50 minutes. Walk was not too strenuous and well paved for most part. There is an educational experience which includes a lecture with the tour at certain times of the day!

It's a very unique place with wolves, bears, and lots of eagles, owles etc. We have visited twice and enjoyed it. There is also white face and all the lake placid area to explore while you are there.
The Adirondack Wildlife Refuge has a Facebook page. In the page you will be given the hours they are open to the public, additional information about the refuge and you'll see multiple photos. Check them out!
They do list recommended donation amounts. But you can donate any amount you would like.
I believe when you call 1-855-965-3626. On that phone message there's a number for the front desk call during business hours (10-4 I believe). Talk to whoever answers all of the volunteers are friendly and animal lovers that will help/point you in the right direction.
Take two hours to fully experience the work they are doing with the animals that are being rehabilitated. Wait to start the tour with the owners introduction to the wolves.
Pay as much or as little as you wish but worth the visit
