The only thing that is really in walking distance is the Chinese Cultural Center directly on the opposite side of the 202. If you head up to 44th Street and Thomas about a mile and a half up the road there are just about every type of restaurant you would like from IHOP to Applebee's to Chipotle and more there's a grocery store and a couple banks.
Check out the zoo, the Diamondbacks, and more. They are all minutes away.
You aren't far from downtown Phoenix. There are always activities there. The Phoenix zoo is akso relatively close as well as Tempe Town Lake and park. Lots also going on on Mill Avenue with shops and places to eat.
Street Tacos up the road is good start.
