What area of the Los Padres National Forest are you thinking about visiting? Big Sur? Santa Barbara? There ae beautiful hotels in Pismo Beach that overlook the ocean. Pismo is not near the Forest, but it is one of the places that does have hotels overlooking the ocean. There are very nice hotels in Big Sur too. They are in the Redwoods, near the Big Sur River. Near the coast, but no ocean views. I recommend any hotel in Pismo Beach or Shell Beach, CA...in the Central Coast. Avila Beach is also a very nice place to talk a walk at the end of the day. Also in the Central Coast near San Luis Obispo. Morro Bay also has motels/hotels near the beach and some with ocean views. Cayucos is also a nice area and Cambria and San Simeon. There are small motels along the Big Sur Coast also in Gorda and Lucia. I'm sorry, but I don't have any names for you, but if you look these places up, you'll find plenty. Santa Barbara of course has hotels overlooking the ocean, but very expensive. Ventura, CA too.
