Wonderful camping, swimming, boating and horse back riding facility. Great camp site for glamping and primitive camping. Wonderful OHV trails!!!

Clean place with a lot of trails. Parking could be an issue at times.

Update...We continue to visit, love, and enjoy Uwharrie National Park! So much to do and see, several campgrounds, even for horses! This is a Beautiful place. We love seeing and hearing the wildlife, day and night. The lighting bugs are so beautiful at night! Such a beautiful peace of God's creation! Wow, just wow! Uwharrie National Forest is so beautiful and diverse! There is so much you can do and see... camping, boondocking, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, bring your horse and enjoy beautiful trails, OHV trails, and I'm sure there is so much more. All this and you never feel crowded or anything. The parts we have enjoyed have been clean and maintained. Amazing place!!

Not many places to visit. Bit the ones there are, are well kept and maintained.

There are many areas at the Uwharrie for you to hike in different trailheads throughout the national forest + there is also a horse back riding area. If you contact the ranger station which is on the main road between Carthage and Albemarle they will have a map for you
Uhwarrie Cabins is a great place to stay
Best is the trailhead for Rocky Mountain loop
Pretty much anywhere.. on the stanly county side there are docks and swimming areas
Great place to fish there fishing at the campgrounds and they have a day area for picnics and fishing. There is also a spot close to the end of the main road that you can drive down to the water but you will need a sub or a truck to get down the dirt road but it's a great place to fish or camp and it's not as crowded as the other places
If you are primitive camping, there is no cut off time. The campground itself should have their rules and regulations listed but free camping along the river is 24/7.
Yes
Get on hwy 109 headed toward Thomasville. And follow it. You will come across Uwharrie Outpost you get information and trail passes there
A good rule of thumb for the Uwharrie OHV trails is this: a stock 4x4 vehicle will surprise you at how far you can make it. Your confidence and experience are the biggest limiting factors. The three "d" trails are the hardest- dickey, daniel, and dutch jon. All the other trails range from easy to moderate, meaning that some areas are just a bit bumpy, others require a little finesse and possible a spotter. The big mud pit youre looking for is referred to as the soup bowl sometimes. It is located in the art lilly parking lot. If you stop by the eldorado outpost they have free trail maps available to help you navigate the trails. Most people out here are friendly though, so if you get a bit turned around dont hesitate to ask for directions. Be safe and tread lightly!
I recommend a visit to uwharrie visitor center in Troy, NC. They have photos and videos of .literally hundreds of .campimng options. They emphasize family. George Gilbreath
Free primitive camping with limited cell coverage. I have T- mobile and a friend had Verizon. Verizon worked and T-Mobile did not. I found a place next to a small creek with a fire ring. It was perfect for 1st time camping!!
No all trails are rock dirt and some are rather large easyand some are small and ruff
Yes, there are easy, medium, difficult, and very difficult.
I know there are several places but to be honest i havent even checked it out
I would think you could take easy and medium trails and depending on setup it's may be able to do more... I would buy a day pass first until you can feel things out. Hopefully someone with a truck can answer you.. Unfortunately I have a jeep so mileage may vary....
Yes, park anywhere unless prohibited.
There are designated primitive camp sites that you are allowed to pitch a tent for free, call the local ranger station for more information....at the camp ground sites which have pit toilets, there is a minimal fee.
Yes Jose, there are some very nice trails for trucks and 4 wheelers.
I know that Randolph County has a county wide leash law but I'm not sure about the other counties. Paula probably is right. Even if it's not required, it probably is a good idea
Public land not far from major cities. Tough hunting. Game is there, but hard to find.
If you have an off-road vehicle you can only ride it on the ohv trails, otherwise it has to have tags.
You can go in on reservation road there's a creek about halfway in they were panning for gold there
On the trail to the off road area. Small bridge or on 109 right past Eldorado
If it's a concealed weapon your permitted to carry you can as long as its not used for hunting purposes
Spotty in some places none in others I have spectrum through Verizon but it's like that all throughout north Carolina (weak) signal but well worth the trip loved it down there
Yes check out morrow mountain website.
Dorothy Allen, there are no dispersed camping areas. Uwharrie has quit a few nice camping areas, they're even some that has electricity, nice and clean showers and bathrooms. All the camping areas are great! But you have to make sure in advance if they're not full, and you have to pay at certain ones(like the one with the electricity, showers and bathrooms.) But they're are places if you want to do it old school by the lake with no electricity, showers or bathrooms, they have some really nice spots as well. If you need anymore info just let me know I live right close to uwharrie.
Some of the land is private land that right up against the National Forest, to be quite honest I wouldn't feel comfortable advising you.The Forestry Office in Troy could tell and they are awesome people there. Hope you get your answer.
I'm not sure what their official restrictions are but we were out there about a month ago and the public restrooms were open, no one was wearing masks. I think it is generally just to social distance from people outside of your group as much as you can. Hope this helps!
Main entrance tons of 👣 & lots more....
Probably Birkhead. It has good access and is a lot more hardwoods
Bring a grill
Morrow mountain has a driveable peak. There is a parking lot at the top. Not sure which direction is the best vantage but it's easy enough to get there and determine if it will work.
Hannah's Creek is a great option!
They r alot af different ways to get in but we put our boat off shoedrive
There is a requirement to purchase a tag from the BP before the trails to go on the trails and last I checked they were open
I believe some trials still allow bikes but you have to pay for either a day pass or a seasonal pass unless you only want to drive the forest roads and not the ohv trails.
Don't know about homes. But there's some land for sale in the area.
Yes, it's fun to look for. You need to be near water.
Plenty of trails for atvs an motorcycles
I can't say what the trails are like as I have only been down the lower section of the Uwharrie River on a kayak but it's possible some of the trails look a bit different this year considering all the flooding from Hurricanes Florence and Michael last year. I attempted a run down the Uwharrie River last year 2 weeks after Michael only find several of the local roads were impassable due to flooding or closed altogether because the roadway had been washed away. On 6/22/19 I was on the river and the flood damage was still noticeable but I believe for the most part everything is back to normal.
Camping is available . There are cabin a little way down the road .There are camping sites in a camp area and u can camp alone trails
There are no motorcycle/dirt bike trails that I know of. Just a atv trails
Yes, you can follow a creek off the trail and find some seclusion by it. The place is just that vast!
I am sorry when we were there stayed overnight and walked an adult trail. It was our first time. We are going back to adventure more throughout the area. Sorry I couldn't help
Yes. There are DESIGNATED campsites here. But you HAVE to camp there. You cannot set up camp anywhere, or the park rangers will get mad. Also you can reserve these campsites ahead of time. But yes, there are primitive sites, but they are designated
Yep, lots of cool sites
OHV Trails open April 1st. Daily Passes will be $5, and Annual Passes will be $30. Remember to put your passes in the right location or you might be stopped and pop them in the right place.
I would check with the uharrie forest services or game warden in Montgomery. County
I would call and ask
I've never stayed in them but have ridden by them. Looks like $95 - $115 a night.
Yates Place and Woodrun campground is one valted bathroom, and Baldwin group campground are flush toilets and showers
You also need a gamelands permit to fish it.
109 trail head has two different creeks one can visit. One South on the trail head and one North. Also, Jumping Off Rock trail head has some nice water close by the parking area... loser than the NC Hwy 109 area. Enjoy!
You can unless it is marked private property. Low Water bridge is a good area for panning.
https://www.forestcamping.com/dow/southern/uwhcmp.htm This gives you a full list of which campsites offer RV services in Uwharrie. Arrowhead looks like it offers the most.
Not been, but checking the info and pictures, it appears there are alot of jeeps and 4 wheel trucks and sxs using the trails
I talked to a ranger about some clearing they were doing he said the same thing Laura said it's just controlled cutting he also said it was easier and safer than a controlled burn both are ugly to see after they are done but nessacerry
Yes, I think there are. It looks like they are privately owned, not park of park camping, but they seem to be right in middle of the park. They look fully furnished, like houses, not camping cabins. Look up Uwharrie cabins on Google maps.
You can park at one of the trail heads or for five dollars you can stay at West Morris Mountain Campground.
Yes you can fly here if you notify the two ATCs nearby
No
The hunting areas are all separated from the tourist areas. Lots of trails to hike and many other activities and all of them area easy access and free from the hunting areas. Camping, hiking, swimming, fishing and beautiful scenery. Come to the Uwharries and ENJOY!
You-wahr-ee (wahr sounds like car).
Yes there is one. It it should be located on the national forestry webpage.
