Actually, elephants have been rode for thousands of years, and in some countries they're still the only transportation some folks have. A human can carry a child on his shoulders, do you honestly believe a child is causing any harm to an animal of that size? I understand its more of a virtue signal for those who like to complain about a child experiencing something that they dream about, and many of you grew up without parents who hugged you or gave you great memories, but I promise you, horses, camels, and especially elephants enjoy giving rides to people, its been bred and ingrained into them for millenia. Just like hound dogs enjoy hunting for their humans. Now what is harmful to elephants is being alone, as they are an animal who needs its herd. A human on the back of something so powerful and majestic is like a spider monkey riding a great dane.
It's not that they don't like it or even if children do, it's that riding an elephant is terrible for it's back/spine. It's 2020 everyone should know better
You might not like that but children do .
