The caverns at Natural Bridge were very different than most of the caverns explored. It was more like walking into a cave that no one else has step foot. The trip down to the caverns had water trickling down the floor which added to the realism. Once you entered the real caverns you were instructed not to touch the walls because of the Virginia laws against changing the natural scene. The first large cavern we went into was amazing. The stalactites and the stalagmites flowed to each other over millions of years and created a solid waterfall effect of rock. We then traversed deeper and much smaller area that showed salamanders born, growing, and living inside of pond at the bottom of the caverns, amazing! After checking out the pond we traversed even further into the caverns where we found large fissures that were caused by earthquakes. Here, the tour guide turned off the lights so we could experience total darkness. I must admit this was very telling experience as we could not see our hands in front of our faces. We then traversed further into a fisher that only small children could go through it into a cavern room. It was very narrow and most people would not let their children pass into the hidden room. I did get my daughter’s picture, but she followed the path and came back without going into the room. Although it was not like other caverns (with organs and lights), it gave me a feel of discovering a cavern on my own. I like this more as someone that loves to explore.

I personally recommend this to be your stop when you drive true Virginia. Visit the Caverns at Natural Bridge and the Natural Bridge park. It is always nice to spend time in nature and to see some of the incredible beauty of mother nature. Virginia is well know for the greenery but this park is quite and beautiful. There is a nice gift shop with very friendly people.

Loved this tour! Very educational and fun… tour guides have a sense of humor! :) It’s about 45mins, and it’s so cool how deep it goes. We will be back. It was $12 for adults and they have rock mining for the kids for $10 a bag. There is a small shop too. The tours are about every hour unless it’s busy they do them every 30mins. They also have a hiking trail. Bring a jacket or sweater! About 50 degrees! Maybe a few more picnic areas and a small cafe would be great!

I have to say our tour guy, Austin was amazing! He had an awesome, fun personality! Much better than the guide we had years ago when we visited. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about his job! The only bad thing I have to say is the stairs are steep, both going down and coming back up. And the gift shop was really bare. But Austin made up for all of that!! He was the best!!!

😷 Masks are required inside of the caverns. If you're outdoors and have 6ft between your party and others no mask requirements.
Not dangerous, but you will be down there for awhile so if she gets fussy, theres really no good place to calm/change/feed. There are some low clearences but they are managable if you are somewhat agile.
There's only one entrance to this cavern and requires a ticket led by an awesome tour guide.
It's a quarter mile down, quarter mile up. You go out the same way you came in. Number of stairs total inside the cave are about 70. There is a part where you go down 46 stairs to get to the last two rooms of the cavern. Your tour guide lets the group know when you're going to that part of the tour and that part is optional. You walk and stop in each room to learn a bit, then when you come back up those 46 stairs the tour takes a breather!
They have hand rails 90% all the way through
They should be fine. The temp is about 54 degrees constantly.
