The smoke is pretty bad, I was up there just a couple weeks ago and it's definitely cloudy stuffy and you can smell the smoke. I have asthma, any really bothered me. So in other words it's not as safe for anyone who has breathing complications, but I have heard that people are going up still even camping.
Going up at this time count on smoke until the fires are out.
The smoke seemed to settle in the valley and the lake was above it. This past weekend was perfectly clear. But Sonora was terribly Smokey.
Fires are about 20 miles from lake. Lots of smoke but no warnings yet about Pinecrest to be evacuated. Id just reach out to local authorities first or maybe cal fire website.
