Pretty standard sno-park, but provides plenty of opportunities for snow play and to just walk on the closed, snow covered road and check out the views around. This is the last point from the west accessible on 108 in winters, although I wish they'd keep the road open up until Dardanelle.

Yes. You need a day parking permit. You purchase that in the california parks page directly.

Unfortunately there is not a lot of snow. There is only a few spots for the kids to play. I recommend you to get there early before noon.
