does one need a car to move around or is public transport good?

We parked our car and used Uber, very economical. Only paying one parking fee + uber fees was way less expensive and more convenient.

Parking is too expensive in downtown. Better prefer walking or public transport. Bicycles are also better options.

You can easily get around without a car. Excellent public transportation and most sites walkable.

You don't really need a car if you stay downtown Seattle. So much is within walking distance or you can take the Monorail to Seattle Center/Space Needle. Uber & taxis are inexpensive if you just need a lift downtown.
