It's a Giant Sand Dune...
It's not a giant sand dune. It's a unique ecosystem of ever changing sand bankment at the south shore of Lake Huron. This is similar to what you would see on a salt water coast. National park has a great info center with theater, gift shop and small museum. Park rangers are very knowledgeable. Various community events throughout the park. Kid events on weekends, including educational tour by rangers. Participates in Junior Ranger program. Park goes for miles with separate entrances for different parts....not connected. The Sand Dunes STATE Park in amidst the National park and do not honor National park passes. Bath houses/showers, restrooms, beach access. Hiking trials. Historical landmarks, etc.
