The parking area is less than a minute walk from the beach/water area. It's really close and beautiful!
The sand dunes are a close enough walk from parking, once you are past security.
The parking lot is close to the beach area, but does fill up quickly. I went in April and there was water when I was there but am not sure how long the river lasts during the summer months.
As this place is just sand dunes it is quite a walk. It is a beautiful place no water. This is not beach sand, this comes from the scouring of the granite by the wind over a couple of million years. The wind keeps in place by blowing different directions throughout the year.
