Yes, it is open. The entire park is not open so lines form around Noon on the weekends. The park is open 24 hours a day. Camping sites fill up quickly so call ahead if you want to camp. There is an overflow camping area located nearby but I don't think there were amenities. The sand heats up to 150 degrees.

We were there recently and later in the afternoon there weren't many cars. If you plan on spending much time there, make sure you take sunscreen, wear shoes that you don't mind filling with sand, and have some water. If you've never been, it's worth seeing.
The Great Sand Dunes is open 24/7 all year. The best time in my experiences of being there over 10+ times is to get there in the early morning to avoid the traffic line that forms after about 7a. There isn't many people that wear masks, but at the park is quite open and very spacious. Mask in my opinion aren't really needed.
Yes! It is open, however a lot of traffic from all over the country and many people did not wear masks in public areas, about 50/50. The park is open however the camping group is booked 6 months in advance.
