No campgrounds on the Island that I'm aware of. We have stayed in St. Ignace(straits state park) as well as Mill creek campground(Mackinaw City, has a shuttle to the docks every day as well as cabins)

No you can't, but it would be cool.
I doubt as it is well maintained and only bikes are allowed and not even fuel vehicle. Hotel is the Only option I believe
They said on the island that there's no camping because of fire risks.
