Hi! If we saw an animal at the shelter but don’t see it on the website, does that mean it has been adopted or is the website not updated immediately (he was a newer cat)?

If you saw it at the shelter in one of the public-facing kennels, but he is not online, then the animal was probably adopted.

When we adopted our dog his picture wasn't on the website anymore by the time we walked out the doors. So that leads me to believe that their website updated automatically as they process each animals documentation. Also a couple weeks ago my daughter had seen a different dog she wanted to check out. On our way in to the building the dog was still on their site. We took a look and were interested. By the time we got to the counter to ask about that dog we were told that her wasn't available anymore and as we talked, my daughter said that his picture had already disappeared from the site. I hope that was helpful

He could be a new cat, kitten that is not old enough for adoption or a cat that has not passed through health screenings/quarantine. As for the website update frequency I do not believe it is immediate, probably once every 24 hours or so? Not sure what kind of factors go into that.

Honestly, best idea is to call the shelter. Our experience with them was most helpful, and we've adopted more than once from them.
