This is an excellent beach to stay surfing on for the cliche California experience. Your will great people blasting the beach boys, others riding their homes or rollerblading and lines of surfers in the water at ask times of day. It is a South facing beach meaning the sun sets over land most of the year making for nice pictures and that protects you from the wind to a degree as well

Doheny SB is a decent beach in it’s own right but seems lackluster compared to some of the other OC beaches. Can get very crowded on weekends. Parking is $6/hr.

Doheny is a wonderful beach, especially for surfing, camping, grilling, or just hanging out for the day. To begin, the parking is easy and close to the beach<100 ft. Additionally, the parking lot is the same altitude as the beach. Which after a long day in the sun and ocean makes the trek back to your vehicle or public transit quite easy. The beach itself is pretty solid, but, quite riddled with natural sediment. Think bigger rocks, thicker sand, larger pieces of drift wood. You can get away with using a towel to lay down, but, I would strongly suggest bringing a beach mat (like a banig.) Getting to the ocean is easy, I certainly suggest bringing water shoes though. The ocean itself has quite large rocks for the first 150-200 ft. that can really wreak havoc on your toes/feet. Once you are out there, though, it is great-serene and relaxing. It can get a little overcrowded at times, but, the ocean is big enough for everyone. As for the facilities, there are easily accessible bathrooms and outdoor showers, grills next to the picnic tables, and a little food area that has ice cream, water, snacks, and beer. New good options are forthcoming. Overall, a wonderful time with great access and amenities.

Great place for picnics - families or functions. They have tons of tables and bar-b-q's and a large park. They also have a volleyball setup on the beach and sorted bike rentals.

Around $50 a night for 8 people
As far as I know, only with a previous reservation, I could not be sure, you can call them by phone
Don't feed the bears.
Not allowed to drink at any state parks in public but you may be able to find a way to be inconspicuous
Not on the beach but by your camper yes.. I brought my dog and they said off the beach or they will fine you.
Im not sure, check their website or call to confirm, sites are right on the beach!
Bc I have a tent that goes over my bed and lid... I was just gonna back up and spend a night... that be nice. Hope so.
$15. 00 per day for parking. If you can squeeze inside the white line, you can park in the same stall next to your camping lot.
Yes you can bring your own my grandparents asked the rangers
15$ day parking or $2 hr @ metered parking. You can park free on PCH & walk in.
You can camp within earshot of the waves of the Pacific. But I do not know if they rent a tent. Please find out by calling (800) 444-PARK.
Use baking powder instead of cleaners to make the barrier around your tent, just a solid line. Nothing with bleach. This really works. Blend into the ground when you leave.
You can park and pay for the day or camp for the night.
First come first serve
Check at the ranger station.
Group campsite wood tables are loose, cement tables remain in place. Plenty of space for tents.
Yes
This is a state park and the cost of entrance keeps this a nice and well maintained area with cleaned BBQs and clean bathing facilities. Especially in our time of drought and a lawn being provided.
Yeah you can do hourly for $2 an hour, $15 per day or a state park pass
I'm not sure probably depends on the season
Parking is $2.00 an hour. You pay at the parking meters in the parking lot
Not unless you stay at the campground. $40 a night
He have to go on the California State Park website and that's how you reserve one although they're pretty busy and half the campgrounds closed down cuz they're redoing all the infrastructure
No, and reservations are very hard to get
When I stayed there (long time ago) camping spot was $65. Night. I don't think they charge extra for trailer. I highly recommend staying there. It's gorgeous place. If you bicycle check out the San Juan Creek trail. Amazing
Depends on the area you choose, and yes it does change.
Only if you bring an amazing attitude!
Parking for a day pass is $15. I think that's regardless of car or motorcycle.
Agree with previous post. Just to clarify: you may want to check what's facilities available first. It's been repaired since the flood few years ago but still tight for camping, especially it's for the large group.
Depends on where you want to be. If your camping, you'll have your own. During the week isnt bad, ypu can usually get one either in the picnic area, or on the beach. Holiday weekends are a different story, show up early and find a good spot.
If it is at the park beach then the park office or a lifeguard station/lifeguard
may not be safe since there is lots of people with dogs. no signs sayings cats are not allowed.
Beach walking, yes, but parking and driving through no as the park closes at 10.
That's a question for the park staff. In general I think it's first come first serve.
I saw shower/rinse stations outside the restroom nearest the bike rental shack
Reserve a spot at Reserve California or by calling (800) 444-PARK
Parking cost money, no fires, no RV needs
Yes you may. If you're looking for a spot and it's not reserved you can take it. There are also day use spots.
Yes... it's a state beach...the first state park in California.
To my knowledge Doheny doesnt have over night camping. Park must clear by 10 pm i believe.
I wouldn't think so, but I personally have seen someone walking a pig,at The Strand,a large pig,and they came and went with the pig, from the condos right in dry of The Strand!
No,not where lifeguard towers 6 and 7 are at. Call to find out if there are any on camp ground area, there may be some there.
I have stayed on pch however if cops come they will tell u to go
RVs are allowed in both day parking and camping areas. Camping spots fit motorhomes and trailers up to about 40 feet comfortably and day parking is large enough to accommodate as well.
Highly doubtful
Doubtful on weekends. Go to Reserve America website to book.
I have a 30 foot toy hauler and have had no problems!
Yes you can! Not sure how much.
Each large Picnic Area (A & B) has one 15 to 20 amp AC outlet. Area A has 30 picnic tables and Area B has 20 picnic tables. Pricing is by season to reserve
I believe in a can.
It is but hard to get into. May need reservations?
20ft areas. There are no hookups..
No, you have to be outside swimming bouys, 200 yards out
4th of July has most likely been sold out for 6 months.
Park & pay. Park & walk. Well worth it! It doesn't cost to get in, all parking lots charge. Just look for the black box with yellow. Enjoy!
The closest airport or major airport at least would be John Wayne Airport.. yes there are hotels within walking distance... concert setups are basically at tbe beach park....not a stadium...festival style
No birthday discounts. Fat use is $15. You don't need a license to fish off the jetty? First come first serve however you can reserve picnic spots at California State parks website, off you get there early you won't need to. Don't know about embassy suites although they are several suite hotels within 1 mile including one across from the state park day use area.
On the beach. But you have to pay for parking if you come in your car
You could park on Coast Hwy and walk the pedestrian bridge. Over to the beach.
No, you can’t. You need to book 2 days before.
Not at the campsite
Making a reservation is a good idea. I have never had luck.with walkins
There are day spots and there are overnight spots you can reserve and pay for.
Contact the State Park.
It's possible... It justice depends on how big your tent is and if there is more than one tent... That should be able to decide your your comfort level.
Yes, there are some to the south of the pedestrian bridge. This area has undergone an extensive remodeling, so not sure exactly where they all are now.
No time for the showers was very generous on time
If you're in day parking (the regular state park day fee), until 10pm. The campground requires reservations. On occasion, you can get a spot on walk-in. Camp spots are $40-68/night.
It is a limited amount. So call them to have the correct answer
Weekdays : Members and Children under 2 - Free Guests - $5.00 Weekends : Members and Children under 2 - Free Adults - & 10.00 Seniors (55+) & Youth (2 - 12) - $7.50
In the camp ground, but not on the beach
There are a few, most are dry sites. There is water faucets spaced around the site and a dump station by the entrance/exit.
You have to book with the state campground months in advance for camp sites but it's worth it we have been going there for years
If the waves are good it will be full. You can always head to another beach a little more north or south
It's against the law to take shells or any marine wildlife, starfish for example. You would be shocked at how many people take little shells cfrom the beach and then on the way home a hermit crab pops his head out. Too late to take him back to the sea. z Over the years so many people have taken shells there just aren't many left, sorry 🤔
Not within the camp site, the shower restroom is free, shower is cheap, there is a dump station on the grounds that can be used
There are a few pull through spots that are on corners. Most of the spots are short and narrow. The 28ft motor home and small car fit in the driveway no problem, but that is with the back hanging off the pavement into the site. I wouldn't take anything much longer unless your had the pull through spots.
Yes, we have had people come and visit while camping.
