SFoF... I cannot even begin to explain in writing how wonderful they are. Every employee I've met is a delight, and really loves their job. They're truly the real deal here. I trust them, and their leadership absolutely. If you're looking for a kitty that's needing a home, or you've found a lost traveller... look no FURther than this wonderful, loving, safe haven. They'll take care of it all! 😺❤️😻⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😻😸❤️

We had a great experience here, adopting our cat. Everyone was friendly and professional. It was clear that they take a great deal of care to keep the kitties healthy, active, and socialized.

Always loved this place. If you're having a bad day come here to pet some kitties and maybe take one home! Good prices from good people who just want to do good things in the world. Any donations here will go to a good cause. Update a few years later: I got my lovely lady, Lilah here. Found as a stray, and definitely been through alot She has her forever home with me now. Friends of felines took such good care of her, and I couldn't be more thankful. She's gotten me through some very difficult times, and she's truly apart of my heart now I don't donate to many places because so many people are corrupt nowadays.... But please donate to this place. They are pure of heart and are doing amazing things for these kitties. ❤️ Please enjoy the pictures of my little crazy cat queen 😊

I wanted to take all the cats home. Please visit and donate to them to help out.

Wings Best to call the store Monday morn. Thanks 4 caring
Yes you can but if they dont have the room they might have you take the cat to SAFE HAVEN In Albany. They usually have room in Albany. It does cost a small amount but if they take your cat you NEVER have. To worry about your cat. Being put down or put to sleep. If Safe Haven takes your cat it will stay with them until it gets a forever home or it passes away from old age.
We do! Call us first to set up an appointment and so we can make sure we have room and a foster for them. Thank you for saving the babies!!
There is litter available at the front of the shelter for free. There is also dry food
Should as long as if you rent you have in writing an agreement saying you can have a kitten. We suggest a rental agreement or a pet agreement. If you own, then you most likely would be approved, though it's up to the staff to decide for sure.
Yes. On the 1st of every month you can purchase up to 4 spay/neuter vouchers for $5 each. Then it will only be 25 for spay or 20 for neuter at participating vets. You have to come to the adoption center to get it and they tend to go fast. Open at 11am so probably no later than 1030am. April 2nd will be the voucher day cause closed on Mondays.
So sorry for your loss. That is very kind of you to try and donate your extra supplies. I would call and ask, and it's a great place to cuddle with kittens if you need to.
Yes, but currently the shelter is under quarantine.
You can also buy a $5 voucher to get $15 off a spay/neuter at participating vet offices.
Possibly. Call and ask. If they cant help ask if they know someone who can.
Call the store in the morning Jill. Good Luck Have a simply wonderful day
She probably ate a mouse that's ingested poison. I would call a vet and see what's recommended
I have a friend that volunteers there. I will ask her and post as soon as possible.
Your best best is to call other nursing homes and see who they use. This is usually a volunteer activity who is vested and insured. Make sure these individuals have background checks or/and accompanied by staff.
This is a pet adoption organization. I've not heard of reserving space in a shelter or pre-registering animals to be surrendered. Maybe someone else will chime in, but I would just give them a call on Tuesday :-)
You can donate items next door at the Salem Friends of Felines Thrifty Shop
I see ,Volenters needed will train, Freinds aka( (SFOF ) hav a valuable list of resources and I'm appreciate that we hav you in our area plus who does not Luv a Bargen or place to feal good about Donating items that are had to let go of we no longer need ,LOL ,Augusta
I think you have to be on a waiting list but I would call them and ask
Kittens up to 6 months are $125, to 2 years are $100, to 5 years $75, to 8 years $50, and seniors over 8 years $25. Desirable breeds are an extra $25
It is ok for cats to eat only dry food but they can get urinary tract infections from dehydration. They like most animals get their moisure from their food, ive found my picky cat likes the meow mix fish cups, they look like apple sauce cups. Its chunks of real fish, dont get pat`e its like hotdogs vs steak
Fill out an intake request online to surrender him.
Don't know...call them
Huh?
This is a holistic vet that does house calls https://healinghandspetvet.com/
They can also help with food, it is not a given that just because you are homeless you have to give your fur baby up. If you go in and talk to them they can better tell you what they can do for you. But I really must say I am sorry that there are so many people that think that just because you have fallen on hard times it is a given that you would break an emotional bond and give your cat away, I guess there will always be emotionally clueless people.
There is a business called Suite dog Daze on Front Street in Salem. Address is: 2090 front st Salem oregon
In a case like this you cannot avoid taking your cat to a vet to ensure it's health. Would you if it truly was your human child? I have most vets will work with on money. I have forgone food, clothes, put off car repairs, all to pay to prevent cat from dying. And as said elsewhere on this page, it is not a veterinary, there isn't a vet on staff there. They cannot give you medical advice, especially to avoid opening themselves up to liability issues.
Go into the store. The have all kinds of clinics for free. If you want really cheap go to a feed store and they will sell you the shots to do yourself.
If you foster you will still have to pay for the adoption. During fostering SFOF pays for all vet care
What is your question?
175 I went there today you have to fill out a form then the cats yours
I can't, my cat Lenore hates other cats. Have you thought of Craigslist?
Do you mean what do they have for adoption or what do people personally own? If you're asking about adoption, they have cats and only cats.
Yes. Take it to the Thrift Store. We sell things on ebay too
You could try on Facebook page.
I don't think so but they get new cats all the time. Your best bet is to call them and ask.
Cats are NOT fans of change. They like their environment, habits, etc to stay routine. What's changed for her? Because it doesnt sound like a kitten who wasnt taught to play nicely, it sounds like a stress or anxiety behavior change. First step is finding that change and eliminating that if you can adjusting it if you can't second is to get stress relief diffuser, calming stuff.
My fellow guides are correct. Salem Friends of Felines doesn't have any boarding facilities. All their available space is utilized to provide quality care and shelter to the numerous felines in need they support on a daily basis with their amazing network of care givers, volunteers, supporters, and friends.
Raised cats for 20 odd years or so. I've found withdrawing affection (pull your hand away and say ouch! or something similar) and dont give them attention. Also... some cats are just dicks. My current one is a bengal, they are very high energy and require... no joke... being walked so they get enough mental/physical stimulation to feel tired. Not getting enough excersize can lead to cats disturbing your sleep with craziness, and being more aggressive like that. Mine loves to bite, but if I tire her out, she'll just chill on my lap for hours! Good luck!
Friends and felons one of the mouth they help you with that all you have to pay is $5 but they do go fast they open at 10am I got ther and a line was back up started around 8am
When do you need it done by
They dont but a quick Google will give you at least 6 rescues in this area that are always looking for forever homes for poochies. Mcminnville for instance has a mastiff rescue. I also know theres a bloodhound one and greyhound one between here and Portland
They do. (They only do kitties). But because of the huge amount of kitties in need, they will ask you for some information about the kitty first. It would be best to call them. Or stop by. (They are a completely volunteer run facility, so sometimes they're understaffed).
Salem Friends of Felines might be able to help you if the cats are friendly enough to be handled and turned into house cats. Other possible options are: 1. The Humane Society in Salem. It has a program for people looking for barn cats. They have a wait list people can sign up on. You might contact them and see if they can help. Their phone # is 503-585-5900. 2. Post notices at some of the large animal vets and farm/feed stores around you saying you're looking for homes for your cats. You can give them away but require them to contact their vet's office and authorize them to provide you with a reference before you release a cat to them. They can do it while at your house or leave a name & number for you to call the vet's office when it's open. If you do that you might offer to deliver the cat to them so you can see where it's going. The second way tends to be a pretty safe way to place barn cats, and speaking to their vet is a good way to know if they'll take care of your cats.
Nope, kitties only.
You'll need to call and set up a time to bring it in though.
You need make an appointment to bring in cats. I believe that applies to strays as well. They only have so much space so if they are full when you go in they won't be able to take in the cats you brought. I'd suggest you call them tomorrow between 11:00 and 6:00 and see about setting up an appointment.
Like Karen said. Go to the WILLAMETTE Humane Society
You can check on their Facebook page they always keep it updated. They sometimes have adoptions through PetSmart on Saturdays
I think you actually need to call them. This forum is more a public input on the business itself.
S.F.O.F. might be able to make a referral. Good luck.
Sorry, cats only. 🤔
This is a shelter for animals who need a home idk that having a garage sale woul even work in their place no front yard..
You should not need to "renew" a chip. However when you got your kitty they should have your paperwork. If you need it updated and dont have the paperwork they will carry a digital copy at the shelter. You local vet should be able to update your info ir help you to do so. Your rabies vaccination is the only thing you need to renew that im aware of. I meam if couse youll want shots etc but thats a while diff story. ♡
I am missing my kittie. What does this stray look like?
Unfortunately, shelters are underfunded, so they can't pick up animals. Perhaps a friend or neighbor could help you get the stray transported.
Not sure you would have to go and talk to them
I am sure sorry, i'm not aware of any places in Salem but that doesn't mean there isn't.
They often use volunteers to sort donations run the thrift store and interact with the kitties.
