Yes they pick up lost animals and take in one's brought to them. You must call them ASAP, don't depend on quick response this way. Besides you would need to talk directly to them anyway and how to possibly ID you cat.

WHS is an Open Admission shelter, which means they are required to take whatever animal walks through their doors, regardless of age, breed, temperament, health, etc. They turn NO animal away. This means that often times, they are faced with the hard decision as to what the best option is for the animal. If an animal is in pain, suffering, or has severe behavior problems that pose a risk to public safety, euthanasia can be the most humane outcome. WHS very, very rarely euthanizes for space: every single animal that is healthy and behaviorally-sound will be placed up for adoption, and does not have a “time-limit”. They stay at the shelter until they are adopted. WHS strives to exhaust every possible option for an animal before considering euthanasia. They have a large Foster program, as well as solid working relationships with other shelters/rescues in the area that give them the the opportunity to transfer animals out to environments better suited for their needs. They have a section for small animals, but they don't always have birds. If you call, they're happy to tell you if they have any at thst time

Humane Society has a van that comes up every year in the summer and they spay and neuter dogs and cats for free it's usually in the the Chevron parking lot.

They have a form you have to fill out to foster. Idk if they do house checks at this location though. But it's pretty easy.

Rescue a hamster where you want. WHS is a great place to save an animal. I just adopted a snake from WHS.

We do not have any public veterinary services available beside our low-income spay/neuter assistance program. This is due to a Washington State law that prohibited animal shelters from offering veterinary services to the public. This law was very recently changed however, it will take some time for our facility to see what services we will be allowed to offer and when. Unfortunately there is no estimate yet on when more expanded services will be available. Our recommendation would be to contact local veterinary clinics or visit www.goodneighborvet.com for dates when their mobile wellness clinic will be in our area in July. We wish you all the best!

Yes, we will accept any and all pet related items. Even if items cannot be used directly at the shelter, we also distribute items to members of the community in need of pet supplies. Please keep in mind WHS does not accept any medications, prescription pet foods, household goods (like furniture), or human clothing. Thank you!

Technically youd call animal control or 911 with a non emergency but if the animal responds to and approaches you, you can still bring them in. Remember personal safety though. Even a seemingly friendly animal may be disoriented or confused, and can bite without warning.

No, you'll have to keep going back in, but if you fill out an adoption form it stays in the records for 6 months. So if you do find the right size dog it'll everything go much quicker.

I remember a program they had at the old facility where volunteers could volunteer their time to walk the dogs. They might still have that program. Of course it was a smaller facility so best thing is to call.

The Whatcom Humane Society operates a food bank program allowing pet owners to come in once every 30 days to receive pet food assistance. Our food bank is stocked by generous donations from members of our community and is intended to be a supplemental program, we do not always have enough food to provide a full 30 day supply. To receive food please come by the shelter with your photo identification and staff will assist you with registering for the program. Food bank is available anytime during business hours.

We adopted a kitten a couple months ago and it was $110. You would be best to go in and check out what they have and ask questions as to what the cost is and what is included in the price. I know that they do a checkup on the animals, make sure they are spayed or neutered and possibly some shots plus chipping. Good luck.

You can actually google it! Google will lead you to the official online website where you input information about your pet and pay like a $20 something dollar fee, and wait for the kit to come in the mail! But I believe you talk to your doctor about it as well

You could always list them on Facebook or any other sale site (but you want to make sure it’s secure and you choose someone that will be kind to your furry friend!! Or you could bring them to the humane society and they’ll make sure he goes to a good home without other cats if he’s aggressive
