Yes they pick up lost animals and take in one's brought to them. You must call them ASAP, don't depend on quick response this way. Besides you would need to talk directly to them anyway and how to possibly ID you cat.
The Whatcom Humane Society is required to accept any stray (unattended) animal brought in by members of the public, law enforcement, or animal control officers. If the animal is not wearing any form of identification, owners will need to visit the shelter in-person and complete a lost dog, cat, other report to be walked back through the stray animal kennels to see if their animal is here. Due to the volume of animals received, staff cannot identify animals via phone, e-mail, or social media. If an animal is brought in wearing idenfication, WHS staff will make efforts to contact the owner right away. All stray animals are scanned for microchips on intake, however technical errors may occur so we still highly recommend all owners of missing pets come to the shelter in-person at their earliest convenience to look for a missing pet. Photos of stray animals are also posted at www.findingrover.com and you can check there to see if any animals match the description of your missing pet.
