Yes it is..2 miles around lake..good for walking, biking..and dogs r welcome
Thank ya fer the response... I Really would like ta catch common snapping turtles. Any info on that?
No the park is not open on Christmas or holidays
I drove by a short while ago, there were people in kayaks on the lake, people running, it's open
We've canoe there with a 16ft.
Per the parks staff that gave us a pontoon boat ride on the lake, there is no water source other than the rain from the sky to replenish what was originally filled when the lake was created. For this reason, the water table fluctuates significantly with rainfall.
Section 10 fireS/Smoking Except in designated areas, no person may light, build, or maintain a fire within a park other than within a camp stove or barbecue pit. Smoking of tobacco products shall be confined to those areas designated for such in the park. If a burn ban is in effect, no fires or smoking will be allowed, except during special events and in facilities with a preapproved fire prevention plan reviewed by the Harris County Fire Marshal.
The bass are catch and release, and there are bass, perch, and catfish, to name a few.
The only people who are allowed to camp in the park are scouts. They have facilities in the park but they're exclusively for scout camping trips.
Yes. This is a nature preserve, not a state park. You do need a fishing license
Park director has been working with the media department to ensure the events are posted online sooner.
Yes, you can grill, but per posted signs, only scout groups can camp. There is a pavilion with grills and picnic tables.
I think the have a picnic area where you can grill but I can check when I get back
My rememberable us that bass are catch and release only at Kickarillo. Regarding catfish you can keep anything longer than 12 inches. Tilapia (which is an invasive species) can be kept at any size.
I'm gonna say yes. Whether you meant to say paddle boat/board. The worst that can happen is that the park attendants can tell you 'no'. And they are all friendly to the park guest. I did see a sign recently, saying that anyone wants to paddle between 8am-10am, must make reservation. This is new to me, because I kayak a lot last year hear. This year not so much due to low water level, but currently after the tropical storm it's almost close to where it was originally.
I've seen an alligator in the creek, but not in the lake.
Yes it is free. I suggest being there early though. The parking lot gets filled up really quick.
Yes
Until park closes. Which is 9 these days. The park closing times will be written at the gate.
Theerr are signs warning of them, and it is a water body in east Texas. There is ALWAYS the possibility. That being said. The times I've gone out and more than a few times with my GF who did a lot of outdoors stuff in Florida, we looked for but could not find any slides or evidence of current gator habitation. But that can always change, so watch and use caution.
No it's first come first serve
Yes. I've seen people airing up and putting them in the water there.
You can kept up to 3? catfish and they stock it with rainbow trout during January
They don't have any there for public use. The only time is when they have their programs, but you'd have to reserve one ahead of time. Otherwise I believe the closest kayak rental is in the Woodlands
Amber, yes a fishing license is required. Please be respectful of state laws.
The close time is posted everyday. I'm there 3-4 times a week to walk and run. Usually the close time is around 7pm but sometimes later. Usually open around 630-7a.
I honestly don't know. I think it might create a problem to ride horseback in there with other folks walking, riding, kids, etc.
It makes a circle around the lake.
Yes for Largemouth Bass. 3 catfish per person 12" minimum length
When I was asking for suggestions.. someone told me their kids catch lots of Blue Gill. Don't quote me on that though. I'll let ya know on Saturday what we catch.
Hi Christina, the park is totally dog friendly. I constantly see different breeds. The only requirement of the guys who work there - to keep them on the leash. That's one of the main rules and I've heard them explaining that a few times to the doggies' owners. Enjoy your walk!
There are not usually ducks at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve, but there are plenty of other wading birds to enjoy viewing from a distance. As with almost every public park, it is in your community's best interest to NOT feed the wildlife!! It can cause disease in the animals and creates bacterial contamination in the lakes and ponds (which is why so many public ponds become smelly and GROSS, like at Meyer Park). Please do not feed any wildlife (nutria, ducks, squirrels) at your public parks!!
They have a boat dock right next to a parking lot... it's about halfway into the park it will be on your right... and you can fish along the bank too if you'd like
The entrance closes 30 minutes prior to dusk. It is everyone's responsibilty to exit the park on time. Constables are usually on hand to facilitate the exodus of slow-pokes.
Yes you can there is a boat ramp.
There are various places to park your vehicle throughout the park. Yes the walking path is baby stroller friendly.
Fishing is allowed. Also in the lake are rainbow trout and white crappie. You can keep these, too. Trout, no size restrictions and quantity 5 per day. Crappie, minimum 10" and max quantity 25 per day. There's also white bass.
Yes, I agree with Du. The park has been restored shortly after hurricane. All back to normal.
I went there this past weekend. The park is open. They just have heavy equipment there to make some repairs.
