I only went for a free tour. They have so much stuff to use including , tools, 3d printing to robotics and woodworking. blacksmithing etc. Open 24/7, and no commitment like gym memberships. This will be one my go-to places when I want to make anything and everything.

I have been a member of the Dallas Makerspace since 2011. This community has been tremendously impactful for me. I highly recommend coming for a tour and becoming a member!

Hi Warner, There are monthly membership fees. Many of the tools require training, and some have consumables charges. Members have 24 hour access. You should stop by for a tour! https//calendar.dallasmakerspace.org. :)
That's up to the class instructor, and is a choice made when the event is added to the calendar. Non-members can easily register for classes if the instructor did not specify this option.
No, the front door will either be open or someone will be there to watch it and let people in. There will probably also be more than one tour group, but those are not official Parking is free and there are more spaces behind the building
Yes, shear and brake
We have tours on Saturday morning starting at 10am.
It's like a gym membership. $60/ month gets you access 24/7, and use of the tools. There are how-to classes for everything, for free or a small fee. Look at the website dallasmakerspace.org.
You can come on our tour day Saturday mornings 10am till Noon. Or you can request a member meet you on our TALK forum at a time that is mutually convenient https://talk.dallasmakerspace.org/

Tours were recently moved to Saturday mornings. Hope to see you there!
No, but we have a large, poster-size printer.
The makerspace is intended to be an open workshop for adults. This isn't a boutique STEM lab or arts & crafts studio aimed at kids. . DMS is a functional fabrication workshop for adults that pay a monthly membership. There are expensive and dangerous tools in the open shop. The classrooms are separated from the shop and could be safer, however in general the space is not suitable for groups of children.
There is a slew of different groups and interests at the Maker Space. While this is not my area of expertise, I have seen a few guys teaching AI algorithms and other things I am in no way versed in. I recommend looking to the Dallas Maker Space talk forum. I believe you can join the forum without being a paying member, and I know you can view the forum without being signed in. Google dallas maker space talk or Dallas Maker space forum, it will appear in the results.
Instructors can be Anyone. They get a small fee, If they have 3 or more people in the class. You don't have to be a member to teach, but classes have to be open to all. To my knowledge, there are members, not owners. There is a small, monthly fee for membership. Decisions are made by a Board.
Yes there are. If you go to the class schedule meetings are listed there as well.
There is a mig with gas. I don't know if it's set up for Al or not. The TIG can do Al however.
We have currently a 4x4 Multicam plasma, and are in the procurement process for a 4x8.
We have 3 Jet Midis (1226vs) with 12" diameter capacity and 18" between centers. One Powermatic with 20" swing and 36" between centers One OneWay lathe. Either 20" or 24" swing and 36" between centers, plus a 17" extension. You might be asking about the planer. We have a Powermatic. I don't remember if it is 20" or 24" inches. Several members have used our Multicam 5'x10' CNC router to level larger items.
This is not a library. This is a facility that has many different areas and machines that you can use to make things.
Unless by appointment. That time is reserved for greeting non members
We have several classes, most of them free, to help you get started. Ex Laser cutter, Mold Making, sewing, leather work, and 3d printing.
