There's a military installation nearby and also a toll collector there's a fee to get in the Beach area so I'm not sure you can't get in unless you go through those secure toll booths maybe there's a number to call for Monroe County beaches

The beaches have coral and little gravel like stones right in front of the water. The park has snorkel so anyone can see the fish. The water is clear, warm and calm. It is our favorite KW beach. We pack a lunch and use one of the 50 picnic tables.... they have a burger shop to buy food and drinks.

Yes you can fish on the far south area of the park. I personally went right at the end of the rock piles better fishing in that area. Just a bit of a challenge to get to the other side just be careful when jumping from one rock to the other. As far as cover. They have beach umbrellas and seats you can rent. But if you want to save yourself the money just go under any tree plenty of them around.
