The beaches have coral and little gravel like stones right in front of the water. The park has snorkel so anyone can see the fish. The water is clear, warm and calm. It is our favorite KW beach. We pack a lunch and use one of the 50 picnic tables.... they have a burger shop to buy food and drinks.
Fort Zachary Taylor is absolutely beautiful during my 18-month stay in Key West I would go there in the daytime for a bit of shade they have nice palm trees on the beautiful beaches where you can set up your hammock and enjoy the Cool Breeze there was also a channel that comes through to the port where the cruise ships come in an dock, giving the passages a brief respite from their sea travel, the wildlife of bounds and there are a plethora of birds to watch fishing there also top-notch.
Swaying plam trees, white sandy beaches, and warm southerly breezes.
There are sandy beaches with paid entrance.
We went to all the other beaches. When it was so dy at the others this one had very little to no wind. And it was not as busy as the others and plenty of shade with picnic tables
Definitely it's a nicer Beach and the better views in more directions. The different seabirds are cool to be able to watch. There are rocks coming out of the water that the birds stand on. You can look out the direction to the right and see the man and woman Islands. The water has a lot of broken Coral so it's a little rough on the feet. Bring your snorkel and mask, there's a whole bunch happening underneath the water you can't see from above.
