Try the upper keys for tenting. No pitch tent areas in key West. Ft Zachary closes at sunset each day.
Ferry to dry tortugas is $175 per person and it takes more than 2 hours to get there. The other option is to take seaplane which will cost around $342 per person both day (half way excursion),(full day excursion $600) and it takes 40 minutes to get there (from key west international airport to dry tortugas). Last week my wife and I took seaplane and it was amazing. At the airport they give you one small cooler with ice and bottled water /soft drinks, snorkeling kit). We also saw many tents there. So please google Ft. Jefferson phone number and ask them about their tent policy.
Google "Tent camping in the Florida keys", pulls up several camp sites that I didn't even know allowed tents. Make sure you call to before you go because alot of campgrounds were damaged during Hurricane Irma. Bahia Honda was our favorite but half of it is closed due to the Hurricane.
Yeah but from what I understand the ferry to dry Tortugas is about $600 person correct? Is there any way to get there within a fair price? A ferry is usually within $25 person
Nothing with a tent.
