Love this place! Been going here since I was little. So beautiful in the fall. Thank you Lord for creating such beauty.

One of the coolest places in Indiana

Most amazing point about this park is its canyons. There are several canyons in this park which are really beatiful. If you are planning to visit, plan to take a root that gives you the highest number of canyons. I can say that Rockey Hollow is the most beautiful canyon, so put it in your to-do list The ladders is another amazing part and try to stop by and climb/descend them. There are three ladders in the trail 3. Climbing them is easier but ascending is more challenging. It is up to you to choose whichever. The suspension bridge is a very unique experience. It is in the entrance and you have to take it anyway!!!
May Ray scrubbie galz
People are nice beautiful scenery if you just want to do a trailer too you can rent a cab and I believe pet friendly was a little disappointed cuz I figured they'd be more than that other than just the trails and etc but really beautiful they do charge $9 for people that are not members and $7 that are members we weren't charged because we were just going to go look around I'm not sure what the charge was for telling you so that you could be prepared

All sites are electric st Turkey Run. $23 per night. Edit, 2018 prices.
You can. You pay $7 for the day for a carload of people. They have many trails that are challenging or for people who just are not as trail made😊 (Like me).
Yes abd price depends on what day and what month id use google and call or see what the website says
Yes park has wood $6. Per bundle at campstore.
Yes you can! All dogs must be on a leash and owners must pick up any messes made.
When we first got there we setup our tent on the campgrounds and then went hiking, so I believe this is pretty common
Make sure you go to the livery early No reservations first come first serve.
It's Sugar Creek. Yes you can swim but don't swim alone. The current can be fast
There are cabins to rent in Turkey Run State Park, but they are very popular and usually booked. There are several cabin rentals nearby listed at visitmoco.com.
No anyone can ride regardless of age, weight or hight
They take credit cards at the gate entry to the park
Yes you can! Many do... and if you plan on getting a canoe, dogs are welcome but charged as a person
Yes. Very close to trails, and there is a toilet and water spouts around the primitive sites
You need a vehicle to get to the campground.
I have not seen any yet but there are plenty of trees.
It was 109.00 dollar's for dinner buffet, plus tip, for FAMILY of 7, an they even gave us a Togo containers for what we weren't able to eat, it was great . The Moorhead FAMILY loves this place , and has no complaints... Gob Bless
Yes. And it's both good and fairly inexpensive. The menu is almost entirely homestyle comfort foods... great for some fuel prior to a day out on the trails.
Hi Tim. You can see our prices online at https://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/3055.htm. Thank you for your inquiry.
Hi Tawny. State Park entrance fees are $7 per in-state vehicle and $9 per out-of-state vehicle. We do not charge for parking. Thank you for your inquiry.
Yes you can is the nice place
Yes, they have to be on a leash no longer than 6' (I think that was the number). Most people picked up after their dogs. Bags are not provided. Not all trails would be easy with a dog. Some have ladders you have to climb and steep rock areas.
There is a youth camping area that is close to parking and plenty of other facilities. If you like to backpack your gear in and get farther away from road noise and casual park visitors, there is a backpacking camp area at the far end of trail 7. It's about a half mile beyond the trail. It's been a long time since I was last there but seem to recall the only facilities there are fire rings and outhouses.
The Turkey Run Inn has an indoor pool I've swam in it.
Racoon Lake or Waveland like D. Worthington said!
Admittance is 7 for Indiana, 9 for out of state. After that, there is no parking fee.
Si creo no pesce pero no dice que no
You'll need to visit one of the local canoe and kayaking places near the park. The state park doesn't offer those things inside the park.
Yes It's open all year. Pretty packed in the summer though.
Most places are closed for the season because the river is too low. You might be able to find a few spots still, but plan to portage a canoe in many areas.
And
You might try a science teacher in your city.
Yes they do, it is somewhere near to their front area itself
I would call the hotel and ask, they should know what they are charging.
YES THEY HAVE CAMPING. WE DIDN'T GO INTO THE CAMP GROUNDS. SO I DO NOT KNOW IF YOU CAN BRING A GOLF CART. SOUNDS LIKE AM AWESOME IDEA TO ME THE. YOU CAN CALL THEM & ASK. EVERYONE WAS VERY NICE. THEY ALSO HAVE AN INN THERE. IF SOMEONE IS NOT CRAZY ABOUT CAMPING. WE WENT INSIDE T THE INN. IT WAS VERY NICE WITH ALOT OF HISTORY.
Yes
i think u have to call ahead for resevation on campsites have fun we sure did but the ladder area was soo busy couldnt go up it was an hour wait just going down from what we were told but all in all great time well worth spending time there awsome place
Yes!!! We ran into lots of friendly puppers on our hike! They gotta be on a leash though!
Only place that would allow them is the bad lands in Attica
Call the inn, but I think they do allow them.
I read that they were, but I would call to verify. Things are changing daily.
There was a camper there Saturday. Just one
I'm not sure if it's 30 or 50 I know our spot had 30 but my husband had made all the arrangements so I never really asked.
Yes. There are wild turkeys crossing the roads. They have Turkey hunts when the population gets too big.
There are cabins to rent in Turkey Run State Park, but they are very popular and usually booked. Several cabin rentals nearby are listed at visitmoco.com.
There are a lot of cabins their yes there is a store and yes there are a lot of trails by the cabins an all over the park
Yes they have extra parking
Also at barhrooms
Probably a good idea to call-accommodations vary per Room type and for the cabins. Rates probably change seasonally also
I don't believe there is creekside camping. There is a campground though, but do not believe it is creekside.
u
I believe you can just before the park road.
Charla is right. It costs to get in the park, horseback riding, outdoor pool, and if you decide to spend the night. They have a wonderful buffet in the dining room, but it's not cheap. Have fun. Rent a canoe to go down the creek.
Yes. There's no one at the guard house until later but you can get in.
Alcohol is permitted in campgrounds. Guests are asked to remember to be responsible.
Reservation fees vary from park to park. To place a reservation and find the exact pricing, see here: https://indianastateparks.reserveamerica.com/
It's right beside the main entrance. They also have great cabins...and a hotel... there are also several different camp grounds around Turkey Run that are close by if there is no vacancy
Tubing is available on Sugar Creek, but is not offered by the park itself. Several local canoe rental companies offer tube trips, ranging from $8 - $20 rentals.
To ensure a campsite, you can make a reservation at (765) 597-2635.
Yes
There are not bike trails only walking trails. The trails themself have different level of trails to walk. Enjoy
It goes faster if you have reservations, but they move pretty quickly regardless.
Yes! Not every site there will accommodate a large camper but they do have sites that will absolutely
Sugar creek canoe rental does. The pricing is same for renting if on the weekend, half price for weekdays. They have a website.
They have their own carts , but I'm pretty sure they allow private carts as well
From the nature center, there is a parking lot, about 100 meters of gentle sloping rock / dirt path (with a bench mid-way and at the top of the stairs), then about 50 stone stairs with a handrail and a bench half-way, and a final 100 meters of gently rolling dirt / rock path. Wheelchair / stroller won't fly but walker / cane with assistance and determination will find the peaceful river worth the work.
In May depending on rain fall and current of the river always best to call the canoe rental places before planning a canoe trip
No, the fees are per vehicle. Different for in state and out of state.
You could call the park to ask for recommendations. They are so most helpful!
Being a state park, legally, you have to camp in the designated camping areas.
I'm pretty sure you can there's a lot of open wide spots, check with Gate attendant first
Yes.there is uplic access.
There are cabins in Turkey Run State Park, but they are very popular and frequently booked. Other cabins in the area are listed at visitmoco.com.
I'm not sure there is a max
Officially? 1916 is when the state park system was inactected. As far as the geological features that make up the park, were formed during the last ice age.
I love hiking the challenging trails there, but several areas can be very hazardous especially to unsupervised children. I am surprised there are not warning signs near the top some of the cliffs. But to answer your question, people have been known to die in every state or federal park. Perhaps if you ask a more specific question, you will get a more specific answer.
The showers are usually open now. You can call the Inn and they should be able to help you.
Trail 11 is rated as easy and is only half a mile. I wouldn't recommend taking a 2 year old on any of the other trails.
In most cases, people are allowed to operate a golf cart in the campground area if they are over the age of 65 or have a mobility disability (or both). If you have further questions, please contact us directly at 765-597-2635.
$3.00 daily pool admission per person (except at Prophetstown & O'Bannon Woods State Parks) $5.00 daily admission per person at Prophetstown & O'Bannon Woods Aquatic Centers. Swimming at beaches is free.
$7 for Indiana residents
It costs $20 per person to ride the horses for 3 miles which takes about an hour!
So if I wanted to go tubing where about is the vendor to get the tubes and such.
Yes they have a river you can rent tubes and go down it or bring your own. Yes you can have more then one tent... And yes beer is permitted
The state park doesn't run the tube trips. Check with Clements, or other canoe trip vendors.
I believe Turkey Run Inn cheapest rooms are $89 a night but they have a special going on through August stay one night get 25% off the second night Monday through Thursday I believe. Check with Indiana State Park Inns to be sure.
You just show up at the gate house and pay the entry fee and grab a map and go! It is great hiking, very rugged in spots!
Many of our nature center programs are wheelchair accessible, such as our star shows and bird feeding activities. Unfortunately, we do not have any paved trails that are accessible, but there is a sidewalk that runs to Sunset Point. Additionally our outdoor pool and the indoor pool located in the Inn both have chair lifts.
$7 Indiana, $9 out of state! One of Indiana's best in my opinion! I'm a 4th or 5th generation visitor myself! Even got married their 17 years ago!
Be careful on Sugar Creek there are strong undertow and DNR that love to look through coolers😉😉
DNR website says that Turkey Run State Park sells fishing license.
I believe it is $7 for Indiana residents and $9 for non- residents all day.
I believe so, they have a couple good sized parking lots. However, it would be good to call to see if they have special instructions.
As an employee of the inn. We recommend sugar valley ad they are the only one that monitors the river levels amd will not let people on it if it is dangerous. A couple of the others in the area will not monitor as closely.
Yes! I would call just to make shure
As someone that works there it is $7 for indiana residents amd $9 for out of state residents.
Turkey Run. They have a really big spread of land, so it shouldn't be hard to find room. Just make sure to book hotel rooms early
Its more expensive for a kitchen cabinet versus a bathroom cabinet. I advise staying in the closet.
In winter weather conditions determine condition of trails. There is horseback riding available, but not in the winter.
Memorial day to labor day weekends
Get there as early as you can! It's only enjoyable when no one else is bothering you!!
Still beautiful
Yes
The roost has two bedrooms. One full bed in one and two full beds in the other. There is also a queen pull out sofa in the main room. So, according to beds, technically 8.
12 to $16. A little higher on weekend's.
I'm pretty sure the campground is closed after October but the park is open year round for trails and the lodge.
There is 11 trails on over 2300 acres. They vary from a half mile to 2. Some are near flat and easily navigated. Others take substantial hiking and climbing skills. It is located near Marshall Indiana. Amazing place to visit.
