Lone Star Birding
Gorgeous park! Some of the hiking trails are rocky with exposed granite outcroppings and can be uneven. I would recommend wearing boots. The views of the lake from multiple locations are amazing! Pets must be on a leash. Great spot for birding! One of the best state parks in Texas!

One of the best state parks in Texas if not the best. Starting from the park staff, souvenir shop, maintenance crew, location, amenities and conditions of trails and roads everything is great. We're going back this summer. We took our kayak and the no-wave zone of lake was simply perfect. I saw several other families on their paddle boat and etc. The dump station location is central. View from different hilly areas is simply amazing. We had a great experience.

We like the hiking trails here. The terrain is exposed and decomposed granite outcroppings and trails. The trails are rocky, rugged, uneven and somewhat of a workout for most of us. We like the lake trail (park near the entrance gate) to woodlands trail, cross the paved road and go around the mountain and under the power lines to connect over to Pecan Flats, then head back across paved road and finish the loop to parking lot. BOOTS RECOMMENDED. RUGGED TERRAIN with gradual elevation changes. Love this hike.

Inks Lake State Park TX has great campsites with the majority of the RV sites on the lake and with lake views. Friendly staff and very clean facilities. Pets must be on leash. I hiked the Pecan Flats Trail with my 81 years young mother. 1000FT Overlook of Inks Lake is a must see. The views of the lake and the Texas Hill Country is breathtaking. In one of my photos you can see a castle! Yes! There is a castle in Texas! Castle Falkenstein

Depends on what type of camping you plan to do. The cheapest is called "primitive campsites". Then they have sites with water and electricity for either tents or RVs. They also have a limited number of cabins. Check with the ranger station at the park for availability of what type of camping you require and they can let you know cost.
There is no gate. We came in very late. Just go to your spot and check in first thing in the morning.
At the office at the front entrance there is public wifi. I just used it earlier this week.
Yes plenty even to watch people jump off the rock. Always interesting.
Yes. As of Thanksgiving 2020 weekend there was general store on the RV side of the park, as well as a good truck by the cabins.
We haven't been to cabins there, but they have very clean Restrooms & showers available for public near every cabin & camping areas.
Yes, yes fish fish fish, I fished all night long every night. I stayed 5 days. I love it there. Take ur girl friend and just get away.
Yes you can have dogs. Only place where you cannot have a dog is if you are going to be staying in one of their cabins. My family has come here often and we always bring our two dogs.
I've seen it happening. Don't know if they have a license.
I think the rate is $55 per night plus tax. Mattress are provided twin size on bunk beds. You gotta bring your own linens
92, 90, & 89 they have electricity and water for RVs but they are great for swimming and kayaks and have shade
I don't think so I believe they have a 2 week limit at State Parks in Texas. You can stay for an extended period if you volunteer to be a camp host, but I'm almost positive it's less than a year.
We took our German Shepard and he swam all day. They do not allow animals at all in the cabin area.. Only I. The parts of the park denoted by green numbered lots. It's absolutely beautiful and the best part.... I was out there for 30 hours and not one Texas mosquito! Apparently they spray often! There were snakes though... But they are to be expected on any natural lake setting.
I don't think they are allowed in buildings. I would phone first.
Yes, boats are first come, first served. They have quite a few. Rentals by the hour, $15 per hour. Camp sites/cabins require reservations usually.
I have hiked pretty much the entire trail system and have found no coverage gaps with Verizon
Check the USGS National water system. Search Inks Lake USGS
Yes. Each campsite can have one tent in addition to the cabin. There is plenty of room to comfortably do both.
You can buy a state park pass that is good for a year that gets you into every state park across the state, for free. You will only have to pay $10 a night for camping if you do that.
Just go online look for available days. There is a calender
I do not remember the exact #. Around $67 a night.
We rented an RV and we had electricity and water. There was no sewer hookup for it at the camp site.
You can launch kayaks and SUPs in several locations around the lake. There is a specific doc as well as several areas along the edge near camp areas.
Yes, just pay for a camp site
You can set up a tent at any site. There are some sites without electricity. Those are occupied mostly by tent campers. There are also a few awesome hike-in sites.
I have seen a portable fence kennel and some dogs on leashes outside. Probably good if at least one person camps outside with the dog or sleeps on a hammock.
Just talk to the people at the front office they should be able to help:)
On the website it does show 50 amp and water hookup. Electricity Hookup: 50 Water Hookup: Y
Yes, I think so as sites gets booked very fast.
It's open but you will need a reservation as even day passes are sold out for weekends
No you'll be fine. We were there last weekend and had no p problem.
No, there is an overnight campsite fee and if you dont have a state park pass a $6 per person daily fee
Depends on the specific campsite. Some have full hookups, some have just water, and some are full what you have is what you carry in. Right now there is a burn ban
With reservations. They have shelters, rv hookups and tent areas. No boat rentals right now.
Most have both water & electric, see Park Map on the Texas State Park web site, they provide a lot of information there
I was there last weekend, and the sites have both 30A and 50A. Over 200 were replaced a year or two ago due to flooding.
No camping in state parks for now only day pass
I think that the park is limiting tp 10 per group. Best call park directly.
The park restrooms alternate days they are open or at least they did 2 weeks ago when I was there
yes, you can reserve them, they have ac and 2 bunkbeds so 4 beds total and a table and 4 chairs 👍
Incoming people can be welcomed at 8 am
Must be 18
Thanks, my bad. I mistakenly ask y'all that and I meant it for Hidden Falls Adventure Park.
Yes and hiking trails. The geological formation in the area is an anomaly. It is a pocket of 1.3 billion year old rock amidst 450 million year old terrain (for lack of a better description). Interesting to explore by foot, boat or bike.
The park website or TX state parks n wildlife will have that info. You can just about always bet theres a burn ban
I'm not sure what you mean. If you explain, I might be able to get you an answer tomorrow, 9m going back.
Also try getting ahold of the ranger station at Inks Lake.
Anytime during office hours. We preregistered for our reservation and ended up getting to the park after hours. We were able to go park in our reserved spot and then go in the office the next morning to show we were there.
There are cabins you can stay overnight at $55 per night: https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/inks-lake/fees-facilities/inks-lodging
All 1 or 2 person Canoe, Kayak, everhing rents for $20 for 2 hours. Paddle boats rent for $15 for 1 hour.
We had site 267, it was perfect for that, anything in that area would work.
Probably has the be the water by the devil's swimming hole, next to the swimming hole is a stagnant water trail that would be great to start as a beginner
Yes, you should be able to, but call first.
Try near the park store area. It's a no wake zone.
Yes, there are day fees for every Texas state park.
I have been told it is one of the top visited parks in Texas. Very worth it though. Beautiful rock formations, hiking trails, and great camp sites. Went during spring break this year, very busy but it was hardly an issues. They are well set up facility wise to handle numerous visitors. You will have a great time.
Yes but the boat launch is being rebuilt and is closed. Can't launch unless you can carry it from your boat trailer.
The water-only campsites numbers 345-348 are right on the water and really nice
There might be but I didn't see any.
You can run a generator outside the quiet hours of 10pm to 6am. But I recommend you don't. It takes away from the birds, frogs, wind, and silence that make the park such a cool place.
No, but I strongly recommend that you do, so you get the campsite you want.
Contact the park directly, June is the high season, but depending on your pass and status prices vary. Also, due to current flooding conditions some parts of the park might be closed this season.
They have largemouth, white and smallmouth bass, crappie and cat fish. I just caught a bunch of large and white with top water lures. White bass are topping right now.
Yep, portable stoves are allowed but not provided so you'll have to bring g your own. Just remember to bring fuel (propane canisters or whatever) with you. You can also make a fire in the fire pits and cook over the fire if you're comfortable with that. Aluminum foil packets and hotdogs on skewers are easy to cook in the fire. The store there sells firewood as well as everything else you'd need (firestarters, matches, lighter fluid, etc) to get your fire going. Oh and I want to say they carry propane canisters if you forget yours (for the stove).
Did you rent a pavilion? I remember, when I rented a pavilion the staff at the gate just needed to know who's party guests were going to. Otherwise people just pay by the car load to get in the park
Typically they're on the water. Depends where you get them from
Yep, no problem
Yes
Yes, anytime you enter a state park, there is an entry fee
There is a limit to the people staying at site. max no is 4 to 8 depending upon the type of site you choose.
Yes, Inks Lake is very nice, State Park.
Yes. They have a good swimming hole with cliffs to jump into. It's a lot of fun.
It's first come first served at the open areas. Get there early to stake your claim.
Canoes and kayaks for sure but don't know price. Usually about $15 to $20 for a couple of hours.
It's a state park. No. People go to parks to hear the birds. Don't be selfish
There probably won't be room at your site but there is parking just a short walk from most sites.
It's usually best to book early If not it is 1st come
You can bring your own boats.
They might allow monthly in winter?
They are remodeling currently a couple of the restroom/showers...which means the old ones are a little more crowded..perhaps a further walk. The have at least 2 showers in the old camps restrooms...not sure what the new ones yet. It is a nice park with a great swimming hole and hikes.
No. It may get a little chop on a windy day, but it is pretty safe.
$8 an hour if I remember correctly. Or $21 for 4 hours.
Definitely would ask the park. Most parks will not allow you to remove artifacts found on state property. Check before exploring.
Yes but there may not be an available spot so you may have to wait till someone leaves.
The best way is to call the park. The space has to be available, but other than that just show up.
Can you camp out with a tent and how much does that cost
Was there last weekend. Wasn't that cold, plus your body adjust to it pretty fast.
Yes
Campsites are on 1st come first served basis. They do not assign campsites in advance. When checking in you can ask if there us any cancellations next to you.
anything along the water...the ring near cabins is fantastic
Lower Colorado River Authority will lower Inks Lake for about six weeks in early 2018 to allow lakeside property owners an opportunity to repair and maintain docks, retaining walls and other ...
