I want to give 5 stars! I really do, this place is beautiful, well kept, great hiking trails, clean pool, the list goes on… However, my 2 reasons for a 4star. 1. They offer kayaking on their event calendar as an everyday thing, just need to call 24hrs in advance. But they do not offer this daily, even in advance as they stated & that was frustrating. 2. The amount of flies, flying around in the dining area was beyond annoying & gross. The place itself was clean despite spider webs way up high, but we truly did not understand why so many flies were inside the dining area. It was a bit concerning. We had no issues with flies as we were running in & out of our room & leaving the door open to load/unload, nor being bothered by them when having a picnic lunch, walking the trails, sitting at the pool, sitting on the back porch etc. so to have that amount in the dining area, which isn’t even open at all hours, again - concerning & wasn’t very pleasant. The food was exceptional, Alli was an absolute doll, an excellent server! The gentleman we had at breakfast was also amazing. I unfortunately forgot to get his name. :( But overall, will definitely return! This place is one of a kind ❤️

The views are beautiful. The food was mouth watering. We even saw a bald eagle do a fly by as we ate breakfast! The staff are wonderful from start to finish. Oh, the rooms were beautifully appointed and the beds were so comfortable. I could not find any fault at all with this gorgeous property! Thank you so much for the wonderful weekend! It was the perfect wedding anniversary/birthday weekend!

I camped with 2 adults and our 8 Girl Scouts. This was a great place and an excellent choice close to home for a first campout for our troop! Their website is VERY informative. Make sure you check it out to get all the info you'll need ahead of time. We enjoyed the hiking trails and the very large, partially secluded tent campsite! I don't know that I've seen better. It was perfect and the kids had room to be kids without disturbing our neighbors. Many places want to pack people in. Not so here! Very spread out. Chimney Slough is definitely the ideal tent camping choice. We did have to drive down to the showers due to the distance. We would have been frustrated if someone who has been there before hadn't warned us so it was no problem. The staff were all super friendly. We especially enjoyed Leroy's upbeat personality. The scheduled program for Saturday morning had to be canceled so he offered to put together an activity for our troop to enjoy. The next morning we made toilet paper roll bird feeders and hung then around. He definitely enjoys his job and we appreciated him. The guided hike Sunday morning at 9am with Willard is a must! He was so informative and the girls were so interested in everything he talked about and pointed out. This place is very clean and well kept. If I had a suggestion it would be to try to find the lights for the shower area that don't attract bugs like regular lights do. But we were camping so bugs are expected. It's nature after all!! And this place caters to nature. Very impressed.

Love this place. Excellent lake views, spectacular sunsets and night skies. Comfy beds. This is a place for hikers, cyclists, birders, and lake activities. Rooms are Spartan - no art, no TV, no radio. This place woos you into silence and sleep. A place for rest. Restaurant is so-so, make sure you bring snacks and your own drinks. Wish I had time to hike some trails, but I was too busy sleeping in and enjoying the views. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice layout for the compound.

Yes. Shower with tub and a toilet are behind the lockable door. The sink and mirror are just outside of the door and open to the rest of the cabin room.
Fall and spring are the best.
Yes. And they have a cafe at the overlook if you fancy an Americano or something.
They have very nice cabins for rent. The resort is absolutely beautiful. However, the cabins have no kitchenettes. You can't even have a grill there. They do have a nice restaurant with good food. You could rent one of the camp spots that have provided grills. Of course, they're not within walking distance of the cabins.
I camped. Have to phone and ask about cabins.
No. It is a nice and quiet resort surrounded by nature, not the place for four wheelers.

Yes, we've five different rooms on give occasions over the years and each room had a hair dryer.
You have to have a reservation. Their site has a calendar for events.
And where, on line, would I be able to see the layout of the cabins in relationship to the lake?

Yes
There is no grilling allowed, only on the “beach” where there are no trees for shade from the Texas sun, definitely bring a large umbrella or similar cover as this is the ONLY place you’re allowed to grill.
Yes. Lake is right down there, all resort separate with rv parking located uphill. U can walk or drive down there. There is a building on the shore that works as a kayak rental, cafe, etc. They have patio with outside sears, even when all close /i think they open from 10 am, thur, fr, sat ,-i think/ you can come there, sit and walk and fush, as nobody there at all! We were lucky to stay 1 day on the way up north, i took my 3 dogs for a free run and swim, -no single soul.
I think you can, yes, if you have an RV spot. I'd verify with them, though.
