The ranger tour is worth it I would do the "Forgotten Right Flank" again at any time Very well explained and interesting, you could tell the enthusiasm for the topic

We did self-guided car tour just follow the arrows and you'll be fine and that was free or you can buy the audio inside the visitor center I believe it was around $30 .
Usually the Reenactments happen around when the actual Battle of Gettysburg Happened, so it would be sometime around July 4th
Yes there are. The free ranger tour is very good though. The ranger we had was very knowlegeable of the history but didnt show us much before leaving us to explore on our own.
Yes but they're not free.children are like $ 7.50 to. $ 15.00. Adults are like $ 32.00 . My wife and I found it to be worth every penny. If you do the Tour by yourself you got to get out of your car and read every sign. And then you have to drive around and find a parking spot and believe me there's a lot of traffic.. not to mention all the reading you have to do. If you go by the guy that tour they explain everything to you they do the stops and then they they take you up on the spot and they show you what's going on and explain everything to you how it happened it's really neat and it's definitely worth every penny and I'll guarantee you will enjoy yourself. Make sure you take a drink and a snack with you. And oh by the way they to make a bathroom stop for you. It's worth it
There is a statue of General Lee in Gettysburg. It's on Confederate Ave.
Yes, forget what its called on emmitsburg road
Yes. The upper section of the double deck bus is the only one with no AC.
Firearms are allowed anywhere outside as long as you follow CCW regulations, or you can open carry in PA. However, firearms are not allowed to he carried within federal buildings regardless of permit status.
No trails but you can ride on the road
I spent all day there. And felt so good and natural as I walked at huge National Park. Nice historical place without ghost and negative energy! The same feeling in Valey Forge National Park!!
Yes you can drive through the battlefields. There are several pull offs to take pictures or explore. I believe the gates are open from sunrise to 10:00 P.M.
Well I just got bsck from there, spent 4 days and did everything NON rushed!
Gettysburg Campground has several cabins accommodating various sized groups. West of town on PA116.
That is correct, movie and museum have a charge not covered by a national park pass.
There are a lot of options. You can to a self guided auto tour which is entirely free. You can do the previous but with an audio CD for interpretation. That you can buy at the NPS Visitor Center. You can take a bus tour for a great overview of the battle or you could hire a Licensed Battlefield Guide to give you an in depth look at the battle. The guides are very personable! Happy touring!
The parks are not closed but the ranger programs are not funded while the government is shut down. That is not to say that the programs do.nit happen, but the rangers will not get paid. If you want to visit the park or visitors center, they are both open.
On the bus tour, we were told that it is illegal in state parks to look for any artifacts and if caught, some very stiff fines were the consequence.
The hours are rolling throughout the year. The park opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset. These hours are listed on the park website.
You can get a guide for your own auto tour of the park, but unless the Service dogs they can not come in buildings.
I've never heard of that specific "ghost" question. I have only heard of soldiers ghosts. If you believe in that stuff.
Yes,you must wear masks and social distancing in stores and outdoor restaurants and some places are by appt only
I don't think there is a specific place buy it is mentioned in the parks regulations stating that you need a permit to do so. Go to nps.gov/gett and you should be able to find it
Nope
We spent the whole day as there are so many monuments and historical things. If you just drive through i would guess about an hour, but your cheating yourself!
Well Dan, I like Matt Wittman's answer. I heard that ALL SERVICE DOGS are More than WELCOMED at Their VISITOR'S CENTER & are treated w/ RESPECT.
The park is open year round. Plan to spend a few days. There is a lot to see. I spoke with a couple from South Carolina who allowed 1 day and were very disappointed to miss so much.
Just one and after being examined by the Smithsonian, was buried in the Gettysburg National Military Cemetery according to an article I read. Sourece: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.businessinsider.com/gettysburg-death-toll-so-high-bodies-still-found-1996-2019-6
Yes. But not in buildings. Be sure you bring water as it's not easy to find!
6:00 am thru 10:00pm
Sorry no
I have seen runners, walkers, and have personally biked it myself. I dont think there would be a problem as long as you respectful and run on just the roads and not the land. And let me add...if you are parents of small children, please dont let them crawl over the monuments. It is so disrespectful for the men who fought on these grounds and the many souls lost there.
No, you will need to do the research on that.
Yes plenty of them Goid ones too
The annual battle reenactment (typically the weekend following the anniversary of the battle) actually has nothing to do with the military park. It is run by a private organization and not held on the actual battlefield. As for reenacting, ideally reenactors own their own uniforms/gear, but groups typically have kit to loan out for new members. That'd be a question for individual reenactment groups, not the National Park Service
I'm not sure , I think they are closed
No security in buildings or entering the park.
Believe you can reserve online
There's no admission for almost everything there (the whole park, including the ranger programs). I think there is a senior rate for the museum and movie.
Plenty of parking! If you want shade I would get there early! It does tend to fill up fast on Fridays and The Weekend
Bus tours are the way-to-go; very informative by knowledgeable staff and air conditioned in the Summer.
There is one major reenactment in July each year, but you'll find living history events with uniformed reenactors around the battlefield most weekends while the weather is good. They won't be battling, but they give lots of demonstrations.
I just used the auto tour and got out and walked around at certain stops. You not want to walk the entire site.
There are several RV and Campgrounds around on the transit shuttle route. The battlefield parking lot is very large as well
Tours can be booked on line, at the visitor center or you can buy a CD for a self guided tour
During World War 1 it was in use for the training of the Tank Corps. That was on the battlefield in the Picket's Charge area around the Codori Farm. Camp Colt was in operation for approximately 8 months from March to November 1918 under the command of Captain Dwight D Eisenhower
The museum is 9-5 in winter, 8-6 in summer. The park roads closed at 7p in winter and 10p in summer. The National Cemetery is dawn to dusk year round. Closed most major holidays.
Yes. The park is open everyday as there are no gates. I think the visitors center is closed only on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Yes Heather, you can. We were just there at the beginning of October.
No if you're thinking of the wax museum which also had the hall of presidents.
When we were there, the first weekend in October, we ere told that is their busiest time because of the Apple Festival. It also is the second weekend too.
I don't know. Best to contact the park.
