This is the best National Forest I've been too, images truly don't give this park justice. The petrified wood was an interesting sight. What separates this Forest from others, is the diverse landscapes located within this park. The best stop is by far the crystal forest.

The views here are amazing and very unique! Visited during the winter so couldn’t hike much since it was really chilly and windy. There are a lot of lookouts throughout the park and the drive is also very scenic.

This is quite a unique national park. It is quite beautiful. I think half a day should be enough to visit this park. It is open from 8 am to 5 pm. Usually if you stay after 5 pm, park rangers will come to you and ask you to head over to exit. The park is around 3 hours and 30 minutes from Phoenix.

prehistoric trees like redwood and ginkgo but most likely the trees you see that are petrified are millions of years old and are extinct.
Yes at the beginning and the end. The one at the end is better and then you can get a small piece of petrified wood at the shop where the dinosaurs are at for free.
220 million year old christalin trees Hills with layers of different colored rocks
Yes, the drive, other sites along the way, the tour involved, & the hiking could very well make you lose a whole day, but it's well worth it!
We went last week and if we hadn't stopped you could drive through in about an hour. 30 to 35 mph for I think 28 miles. We spent 3 to 4 hours in the park with stops.
We came from the west and your first stop is the Rainbow Muesium. The bigger gift shop is heading east from that entrance. If you go in through the east entrance you will tell by the ranger housing. I personally will say we went to both gift shops and they were basically the same.
A woodchuck would chuck all the wood he could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
You can dry camp but not with a trailer. You can camp outside of the park with your trailer.
