Cool temperatures even in the middle of summer. Amazing views! Definitely loved the Alpine Pond Loop, so many beautiful wild flowers. The hike to Spectra Point Overlook was a little scary because you're hiking next to a huge drop off without railings, but the views of the canyon were spectacular.

An unknown gem in southern Utah. It's got all the grandeur of Bryce but with a little more elevation and higher overlooks. The color contrast here is stellar.

This “smaller” National Park is a gem that is often overlooked. Probably one of the most scenic and beautiful parks that I have ever seen with a deep canyon, plenty of hiking trails, and expansive overlooks that are easy to reach from the roadside, or after a short hike. We arrived at the park on a clear day with plenty of sunshine and the views were absolutely amazing! You could literally see for 40 miles or so, and the mountain ranges all around were visible. Definitely stop to see this park on a clear day when you are visiting the other more popular parks in Utah!

Cedar Breaks National Monument. It’s beautiful. The drive is amazing. Views are spectacular and easily accessible. Only a very short walk to the vistas. It was very windy at that elevation. We were standing at over 10,000 feet, it was cool and windy. Be sure to take the time to see this sight - you won’t regret it - BEAUTIFUL! Great views and hiking trails. Doesn't get many visitors even in peak season. Well worth a visit. A small version of Bryce Canyon.

I have no miniscus in my right knee, and I'm 60 and over-weight The altitude, you'll notice it, but it's all paved, you can roll anywhere if you're in a chair, but walking is easy too. Lots of benches to stop and catch your breath. I wouldn't recommend the trails, but the area where the visitors center is, is great!
Depends on your age and if you have a pass. Kids to 15 are free. 16+ is $10/pp. Commerical tours pay $10/pp. Senior citizens can get in for free with the Lifetime National Parks pass, which is $80. Or, a senior can just pay $20 for an annual pass. Other passes are priced at: Cedar Breaks Annual Pass is $35 Annual 4th Grade Pass: Free Annual Nat'l Parks/Fed land Pass: $80 If you want to go on fee free days, you can go January 20th, April 18th, August 25th, September 26th and November 11th. Those with an Academic Waiver can also get in free. Military members can also get free passes, same with those with a disability. (The military is an annual pass while those with disabilities get a lifetime access pass.) I hope this helps, Brenda! If it does just hit the thumbs up so I know. Thank you! I love this national Park; it's stunning! Tip for campers: if camping, skip the fee and camp for free just outside of the park grounds. It's awesome!!!!
Good question, Hugh. The elevation varies throughout the park and they do have signs telling you the elevation. Reality is this park sits above 11k in some areas so if not used to altitude, take it easy, take lots of breaks, stay hydrated and if you feel a headache come down from that point to a lower altitude. The good news is there are park rangers who are well trained to help. Hope this helps!
Hilary, it is a pretty great distance, but that shouldn't stop you. The answer is yes. I cannot tell you how many cyclists I have passed heading up there. They have my respect! And, there are many trails to hike heading that wAy. That shared, do NOT go hiking it alone and do inform Rangers in the area of your route to be taken, who you are with and your destination. Go for it!
I answered this in depth in another 1uestion. Prices start at free at $10 up.
It was on the news that the park probably will not even be opening at all this year. Way too much snow this year.
Cedar Breaks has an individual fee of $6.00 per adult, or an individual seasonal pass of $25.00 (allows the pass holder plus 3 more adults to enter), good for one year from date of purchase. The America the Beautiful Pass which allows you access to all NPS parks for one year costs $80.00 Currently the highway into Cedar Breaks is closed and you can only access the park via snowshoes, skies or snowmobiles. This is a high elevation park and check their website for updated road closure information. There are no restrooms, the visitor center is closed.
Cedar Breaks is typically 30° cooler than lower elevations so road conditions are not the best in May, if there is still snow, especially if the roads haven't yet been plowed. That shared, if not a winter driver or not from a winter state, you deserve to know snow falls still in May. Be careful. Rangers won't open the park if there are still extreme snow levels.
