They are so sweet

Little more organization for people who want to volunteer...the rest is really well laid out.

The SPCA are soo helpful not just to the animals but they help the owners to care for their babies
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Yes, you sure can! They have dogs and cats of all ages and sizes! 🐶🐱😁
Yes they do ,and very affordable vaccine package. My 5 dogs have been going to this SPCA clinic for nearly eight years. the staff is very nice as well as the doctors.
As a foster parent for kittens and cats in another state, I urge all people to adopt from a shelter near them. Adoptions save lives. Adopt, don't buy! Many puppies, kittens, and adult animals coming into shelters are a result of some human not spaying or neutering their animals.
SPCA will most likely put dog down. I agree Jeff @ humane society. Also if dog is specific breed look for a rescue group that specializes in just that breed. Hope your son recovers quickly and you find place for dog
It's depends on what shots the pup needs the most I paid for one she was 15 dollars and one shot was 10 dollars but they are cheaper than a veterinarian
You need to call them directly. Check their web site for the phone number. Good luck.
Yes
I am not 100 percent sure but you could probably call ahead and ask. The people there were very helpful and knowledgeable.
Yes you can; cats over 4lbs $50 and feral cats $35. The only downside since a lot people take their pets there, cause is relatively cheaper obviously, appointment take about a month. So you might want to call tomorrow to schedule an appointment hopefully you get to take your cat in two weeks to four. So the sooner the better.
No financial care but the supplies that you need to care for the animal is provided.
No that's why it's called "Volunteer" I do believe if you should need Community Service you can get your hours there.
Hi Donna! We do not board dogs unless we are treating them at our vet clinic and they are needed to stay overnight.
About $90 plus tax. You get a free bag of food and medicine for your animal. And paper work for your pets insurance, vet visits etc... Me and my wife adopted our dog Dingo and he cost us $109 that's with taxes ❤️😊
Mostly cats and dogs. Occasionally other animals such as rabbits, hamsters, ferrets. Current inventory of adoptable animals can be found at LouisianaSPCA.org
Maybe because they are the hardest to adopt out. The place is incredible!
Yes
Yes, call them and see what services they can provide you with to help with your dog.
Best bet is to check their website. https://www.la-spca.org/adoptables You're probably not going to get a full breed, but remember, it's first come first served. So you have to be quick.
Yes, after a few months they should get along with each other very well. However, when you first introduce them to each other, you'll have to spend time with all of them together to encourage, train and show them how to get along well with each other as a team. In the first few months, if they are not connected with each in a peaceful manner, please don't leave them with each other alone while you're or other family members are gone. Again, within the first few months, you and other family members will have to teach and encourage them to get along well with each other as a real, friendly and loving family. Great luck to you all, and thank you for adopting that pit 😊 ❤ 😊
Not until they are ready to answer. Stick with business hours and call early, i.e. as soon as they open
When I was there to pick up my Foster kittens I watched the phone ringing and ringing and nobody answered it even though they were standing right there
Contact the shelter directly. They are always looking for volunteers and foster parents!! I'm a foster mom and I LOVE it!!
Never ever had a bad experience here. In fact I switched from a regular vet to here because of there excellent service and how much they care about the animals. This is one of the most caring group of people towards my pets I've ever had since having pets! I would highly recommend bringing your pets here.
Yes, you can adopt a dog for your son. The best way to do that is to go the ASPCA and check out the dogs. Also you could check ARNO, they always have plenty.
Take them in to the shelter, they'll be fine there
Yes as a matter of as of yesterday there was several very cute/playful tabby kittens. And as always kittens are fixed & ready to go to they're new furrrever home. Tganks for adopting.
You haven’t spayed her?jesus.
Yes
You will find a large selection of breeds and variations. The dog population at the SCPA represents the community at large. You can call and find out how to go on line with the SCPA and view the dogs that are available for adoption. The SCPA requires an intake process for the adoption of animals and they can help you make a selection according to your needs. It is the way to go for dog lovers.
Yes
A ata cat5333N.Rampart st.
On the Westbank, check out the Louisiana SPCA in Algiers.
Yes they do
I’ve only used the adoption option where I’ve gone to the shelter to find a loving pet. But, if you call their mainline they will gladly answer that for you.
Of course you should not just give him to anyone that you have not checked out. And there are German Shepard Rescue groups you could check out as well. And considering you status on your family situation please do not get any more pets. They are a lifetime commitment.
Hi Tyme! It is encouraged to have an adoption appointment, however, we also welcome walk-ins.
Hi Barbara! Our website has a live feed of all our adoptable animals if you're interested in adopting. Please feel free to visit our site and make an appointment to come meet some of our amazing adoptables! https://www.louisianaspca.org/adopt/
Hi Joseph! Please feel free to call the 311 non-emergency number, and they should be able to connect you with our humane officers who can better answer your question. Thanks for reaching out!
Hi Suyapa! Please make an adoption appointment on our website, https://www.louisianaspca.org/adopt/ if you are looking to adopt a dog!
Yes they will kittens put them up for adoption
I'm not sure, but I would consider having it done regardkess. If your cat gets out, it should be safe from any sweep for feral cats.
Yes
Yes, I believe you can surrender bunnies there. But feel free to drop me a line if you have a bunny that needs a home, and we'll see if we can help.
Yes... Puppies 210 just adopted one older dog cost less
Hi Sophia! I do not work at the SPCA so I don't speak for them. I can tell you Federal Employment Law requires you to be 14 with a work permit to work anywhere in the in the US. You will make a great addition to the workforce in just a few years.
I'm not sure about that one I think it is a process though...so living in Texas i think it would be a little difficult since they may wanna see how your living conditions are and if they a favorable for the animal!...I dont know how long you're gonna be here or if your coming here to adopt but I'd call and ask them policies change all of the time!
My daughter both her tea cup chihuahua from Craig list
You can schedule an appointment to have your pet microchipped at our community clinic! Our clinic can place microchips at any time, so there is no need to wait for an event!
All of our adoption fees can be found on our website at www.louisianaspca.org/adopt!
You can make an appointment to surrender your pet by calling 504.368.5191.
Not sure. They would maybe take it
I do have a pit mix. He's huge, and approximately almost 2 years old. He was a rescue, not from here. He did however receive a FREE neuter and microchip procedure! I can't express my gratitude to this incredible staff! I wouldn't otherwise ever had the extra to get this done❤🐕🦺🐈🥰
Yes
Yes
Dont know but you need to make an appt to see the animals dont just show up give them a call
Yes. They will. Im thinking they have a payment plan too.not sure
We did the weekend sleep over deal. With everything (collars, leash, etc) and a round up donation we paid $150
Hi Cathy! We would love to have you foster an animal! Visit our website to fill out a foster application. If you already have one filled out, please reach out to our foster coordinator to talk about the next steps!
Hi Belkis! You can check our website and find one that fits your family perfectly before you come, and you can fill out our application online to save some time on the day you decide to adopt a pet! Then you can come to our shelter and meet your future family member!
Yes they can
Yes, depends on size of dog. They are very reasonable
Hi Cierra. We are so sorry to hear that your cat is not feeling well. We unfortunately do not have the proper equipment to provide emergency care. We recommend taking him to the nearest veterinary hospital. We hope he gets better soon!
I have never seen puppies there. I was there today, no puppies. But I'm sure they'll take them in when needed.
Facts 💯 now read carefully turn the pet in like a you found it. Say you want adopt asap pay $90 get your pet back in better shape. I did it for my dog they had to cut one leg off I couldn't afford that so I worked the loop hole. Yes save money. I paid the$90 got the dog back . 😁😁😁😁Now go to o and the place and get you pet right
It depends on what type of drop off you are doing, there might be a small fee for surrendering your own pet, but for the majority, yes you can.
Hi Veronica! All of our services and prices can be found at www.la-spca.org/clinicprices.
Act like you found the dog and turn the pet in then sign a want to adopt papers and get the pet back youll will be first in line $90 to get the pet back and they will do all what you need done before someone adopt tbe pet. Yes bet the system. Facts
You actually do need an appointment and it's a simple tech visit. Also, nail trims are $12.
All of the animals up for adoption at our shelter come with an adoption fee that covers the cost of their spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip. More info can be found at www.louisianaspca.org/adopt.
25-45 dollars each Here is their link https://www.la-spca.org/spayneuter?deliverychannelid=rrkrjjzjq
May run you about $50, Mike. Call soon to find out.
https://www.la-spca.org/hlrcomplaint
Sooo, the LSPCA should know the contact for that. There is a jail where the prisoners train the dogs. I think it is Jefferson parish but I would have to look at my old papers.
they are very compassionate and helpful ,, knowledgeable about any animal situation
Yes, but what do they look like
You can check their website. They keep their adoptable pets pretty up to date.
All the good dogs go so quick you most likely want find one
You would have to call the main facilitie.
Nothing. You will out a form and pay a fee for them to take your pet. If the pet turns out to be un-adoptable they will call you and give you the option to come take your pet back. Or they will put the pet to sleep.
Likely. Call first. (Good luck!)
Always. Now actively seeking folks with time & love to share. 😉
It's not essential that you bring papers to any veterinarian. But it helps. Adoption/"ownership" papers are never a necessity for treatment. Ever. Just money. Get your suffering pooch in quick! These folks want to help you and your pet.
Different dogs have different adoption fees. You'll have to talk to the SPCA staff about your specific request. If you can't afford their (low) adoption fees, you probably can't support the regular expenses of a pet (food, monthly flea/tick/heartworm medication, vaccines).
I don't work there maybe check website or give them a call...
Not sure, 45-60 maybe.
It's the SPCA
No
Yes
I'm pretty sure they do, but I would call them to be sure.
I have three sweet kittens that need a good home, if you are still looking!
Call Louisiana Animal Control. That have a task force for things like this.
This is not the SPCA website & it's pretty unlikely that any of the guides were there yesterday and a lot less likely that anyone could describe all of them. So, the only thing to do is go there, get to know the staff, they'll watch for a dog type that you will love!
The facility had made an appointment never mentioning they were out of funding then the day of Im asked to pay and when I explained I couldn't was then told funding was out
Is the Louisiana SPCA a “no-kill” shelter? The Louisiana SPCA is an open admission shelter and will accept every unwanted and homeless animal as part of the organization’s mission. The Louisiana SPCA does euthanize animals. This decision is made by several people within the Louisiana SPCA and the animal’s quality-of-life is always at the core of the organization’s actions. Some of the factors that affect euthanasia decisions are listed below. Sick and injured: the veterinary team at the Louisiana SPCA exhausts every possible opportunity to help a sick or injured animal. The team considers the animal's quality-of-life and the health of the herd when euthanasia decisions are made for sick or injured animals. Capacity: no animal will be turned away from the Louisiana SPCA and all adoptable animals will have an opportunity to be adopted. The number of adoptable animals euthanized at the Louisiana SPCA is below the national average. https://www.la-spca.org/faqs
Contact the SPCA. Then they'll gladly answer your question. Better yet, go over there and visit. You might find a treasure.
You need to make a apt
Just call and schedule them together
If you are asking if they will try to rehome your puppy, the answer is yes. They may ask you some questions and/or see if there is any way to assist you in keeping your dog, but they would much rather see a puppy placed in a home where they are wanted rather than possibly put out or abandoned. Best of luck.
I don't know if they are staffed on weekends. If I were very worried, I'd call the non-emergency police number.
Please check often to see who needs a new home! It's easy to come see what breeds are available at any particular time.
No there is no free program, but prices are low about $30 to $40.
Please refer to the LASPCA web site I'm sure they'll be able to help you & your neighbor resolve this problem.
I think they are available year round at the west bank location.
The worst part about this place is they do not answer the phone. They do call you back though. Great service and wonderful people
Yes you can return them to LASPCA. Please provide as much info as you can concerning the dogs. Not sure if there is a cost involved in this process.
Yes they do
Awwwww, Thanks😮
No
No emergency treatment when closed. There is listing for a west bank Emergency Vet.
Payment plan you have to ask
Call & ask, I'm sure they will work with you.
BEFORE WHO DIE
There are no pugs. You can check their website daily to see available animals. LASPCA
I'm not sure myself
Call and see
Make sure you take pictures of the dogs running wild
I don't understand what you're asking, Shay. Please try again
Not sure if theres any "official" way but best guess would be to blast an announcement on every social media platform you can, call every shelter and give photos/descriptions, post flyers and announcements on Craigslist, nextdoor app, etc. Hope you find it!
Call and ask
Yes they do
Treatment for Heartworm at the Louisiana SCPA needs a consultation from your Vet and is based on the pet's weight. They also have a payment plan. Call the clinic on Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
The SCPA will come and capture and spay/neuter "feral cat colonies". However they can not come out for just one cst + kittens. Give them a call and they will come get the mom and kittens. Because if the injury that may be the kindest action. Can you help capure the family?
No. Please call your local scpa, and they can tell you who does.
If they already respond to the name given by the SPCA and you want to change it pick a name or nickname with the same cadence and reward the dog as it responds to your commands , remember they want to please their alpha pack mate, which would be you .
I believe annuals are $55 if you have been before. I am not sure if that covers the cost of the rabies tag.
I think you get discount if you are a in the military
There are " morning after " remedies for animals but the options only cover short time periods after the female has ben impregnated. I would call the SCPA, or local Vetrenarian to find out what is available and costs. The SCPA can help with low cost alternatives. You will have to call now as time is of the essence. Good luck to you. Spaying and neutering are always the best choices.
When you get shots or see the vet. Shots are$90.00
Call aspca
You will need to call your local SCPA or go by to find out the answer to that questiin. The variety of breeds chages daily.
I think it is $ 35.00 for the first exam and shots and two weeks later your bring the puppy in for the second round of set of shots and that's another $ 35.00
Yes. The police will have the animal picked up by animal control. You can look that number up by searching your area, ie., New Orleans Animal Controll, or call the arresting agency.
They should...you just need to talk to them...they're Really Helpful and Understanding...My Husband & I Love SPCA on Mardi Gras... They were So Helpful with Our Baby Daisy's Loss and They Bought Joy To Our Lives With Our New Baby Gia😍😍😍...Good Luck...and They're Really Reasonable 😍😍😍
There's an exotic veterinarian in Metairie. I would google his practice for this type of pet.
Rabbit spaying varies. It is more complicated technically to spay a rabbit. There is a rabbit rescue organization in Baton Rouge called Magic Happens that might help defray costs. There are Vets in New Orleans that will spay bunnies like Lake View Vet. But I am not sure of their cost. Call the New Orleans SCPA and they can tell you if there is anything else available as they do not offer the service. It is a great idea to spay bunnies because they produce so many liters.
Please call the animal control in your city. In New Orleans, it is listed as Louisiana SCPA.
For a sml fee, I believe u can put in request for specific type of dog (like G. Shepherd U'r referring to) in case 1 comes in+ u might also want to check w/Jeff. Parish SPCA right off Clearview&Earhart Blvd, + ARC However-- I also sincerely encourage u( if u're inclined to prefer a larger dog) to please PLEASE consider some of the other large dog breeds that are accumulating in various places like that. Another option..They are in desperate need of folks that can handle a lg dog +consider taking them out as a FOSTER dog ....for a day, or weekend, or week, a couple of weeks, and so on. That would be SO helpful to keep them socialized +content. Maybe u'll find 1 that u eventually want to keep... even if a German Shepherd does not show up. Why not volunteer to help walk them+help show them at adoption events? I met so many of them when I've done volunteer work at SPCA+ also been foster parent. I personally can't handle big dog☹ but u would be amazed how sweet + loving they are!!
The only thing I would like to add to the info from Ms. Dewett is that the vet. Clinic at the SCPA is low cost and can help with training your pet. The Catahoula Leopard was breed as a herder for cattle and requires a lot of activity. They are intelligent and independent. They are not a good apartment dog and need time with strangers.
I replied to this question yesterday for someone in Pearl River???. Now that your residence is in Mississippi, you need to call the animal control/SPCA in Picayune. New Orleans will want you to reside here. You can get rabies shots free in the spring in New Orleans and they have low cost neutering and spaying. You will have to see if an agency will help you get it done free. Call the SPCA in La. or Ms. And see what they say. That is how you will know. Good luck, as neutering and spaying is kind and prevents neglected offspring that can not be taken care of properly.
Go on line and look up the SPCA located in Picayune Ms., now that you live in Ms.. you are a Ms. Resident now. They offer low cost spaying also. You could call either for advice and to locate low cost vet. services .
The Louisiana SCPA has a wide range of low cost health programs including puppy series shots about 50$, and kitten series shots 35$-50$. There is also annual wellness visits which include ckup, heartworm testing, and rabies. 50$-75$ for cats and around 75$-100$ for dogs. They treat heartworms and have dental care. They also sell flea and tick prevention. Price varies. From about 10$ to 100$+ for the injection. Look up low cost wellness lscpa for more info. They also have some great programs.
I am sure you mean , Yorkshire Terriers. You could go on line at theSCPA in New Orleans and look at what they have available . You could also call or go by. The breeds and variations change daily.
I would call and find out if they sponsor a program or whom they would suggest in the community.
Most services are free as long as you purchase a six month supply of heartworm preventative from them.
Absolutely crucial u find him treatmet ASAP.
I would suggest acting quickly-esp w/severe weather coming up!! If u can safely take in animal immediately that would be nice IF u know amimal will respond gently to u + IF there's no owner around to challenge U'r actions. Keep in mind it can be risky to challenge an ownrr ALONE. Contacting LA SPCA on Mardi Gras Boulevard. OR Jeff SPCA in Elmwood area, close to Clearview + Erhart Blvd. might be helpful-- as they could likely advise u as well on how to connect w/ Animal Control or HUMANE SOCIETY to help remove animal + get it to safety .Even police dept. might be helpful in speaking w/owner or proper agency to protect animal. I know if u bring animal to N.O./LA SPCA they might attempt to reach owner. Otherwise u are asked if u wish to release animal into their care/they take over ownership of animal per se. Please don't give up if they don't answer calls right away.SO many calls come in 24/7. U mite need to go out there for help.
My mom is is not on food stamps but somehow she makes it and i know better how to feed my children the same way i respect my pets as if they are my own part of the family
No they can have cancer
Until 5pm, however a doctor/patient relationship and current heartworm test are needed on file to purchase heartworm prevention.
Not sure exactly which dog U'r asking about- and if U'r referring to a SPECIFIC dog that might be up for adoption at SPCA center I'd recommend you look for that dog on their website, in the adoptable dog section, or contact then directly. If if it's an older dog there is a special lower adoption fee available, I believe, during this Nov. Hope this helps
Yes they either have free events or special lower pricing events
Veterinarians will charge for this procedure based on your pet's size, age, sex and overall health. The Louisiana SPCA provides low cost spay/neuter surgery 4 days a week. If the fee seems high, remember that surgical neutering is permanent and less than the cost of caring for an unwanted litter.
Try the Louisiana Humane Society. Also SPCA.
