This is worth a trip. I tried to cram everything in a couple hours.... it could have easily be an entire day event. Cafe and restroom on site.... there are SO many things to explore... kid friendly... I enjoyed the Koi pond and watching people feed them... the tropics in the dome were nice too!

It’s being years since my last visit. It was awesome. If you have children, get ready to spend the whole day just in the kid’s area. We had a blast. So many activities! After the kids area my daughter was exhausted😂 We hopped in the tram ride to get to see the rest of the place. The garden roses are a paradise sample. Enchanting. Took awesome pictures of my daughter.

We came from out of town and seeing all the good reviews we decided to make this a place to stop. It did not disappoint. So many beautiful and unique plants, flowers and trees to see! Kids from 3-13 enjoyed their time at the kids garden too. We had lunch at the cafe and it was soo good!! Loved the view sitting outside to eat. We spent several hours and still didn't get to everything. You could spend an entire day there for sure. A place of serenity.

The Japanese garden was absolutely beautiful and bloom. The climatron was very clean and and lots of room to move around. It's still early in the year so not a lot of things were blooming yet. The magnolia trees were very fragrant. Everyone was very helpful and polite. Definitely going back later on in the year when more things are in bloom.

Even though the MBG's address is at 4344 Shaw, the compost training entrance is on the side of it at the Tower Grove gate.
I don't think they do, they're probably not a nuisance with those plants, uses, etc.
Yes, you can. Including the orchids exhibit
They do have Saturday brunch but it is seasonal (April - Oct I think, with breaks for special events). You should definitely check their website for specifics. Cheers and hope you enjoy.
The Garden offers a Master Gardener certificate. Which requires you to be onsite and available for six months. You can try to email the administrative offices for more info.
Thanx! I hope they are potted spider mums and not stems. Again, thanx!
It could be grubs. (Japanese beetle larvae) If it is, buy grub killer granule and put it down over entire lawn. Your lawn will repair faster if you remove dead zoysia and put seed down. (Now is the time of year to repair any spots that are sparse or dead. But not treating the reason it became sparse or dead FIRST will cause damage to keep reoccurring.)
There's a good chance they're sold out already for tonight.
They should honor them for a different night. Call them.
There are bus routes as part of the Metro system, but the Metrolink rail system does not go directly to the Missouri Botanical Garden.
Kids 12 and under are free. Right now non-member adults are $14 a pop.
You can walk through quickly without really exploring or stoping and it'll take 30-45 minutes. If you take your time and stop to take pictures and explore the little paths and such it could take 1.5 hours or more.

That bridge was redone specifically for the chihuly glass exhibit. They hung a fire red glass piece under there. So that was just.a few years back.
I'm pretty sure they would Google the number and ask them 😊
They both appear to be listed on the reciprocal list on the American Horticultural Society website. They have a summer concert series, Wednesday evenings.

I have many plants , but not trees having same problem. Thought it was root rot. Might try calling the Gardens horticultural hot line.
Yellow pest strips. Also some sweet fruit in a bowl. Plastic wrap over it except a small area on rim folded back a little so flies can go in, but they tend not to get out. Periodically, go outside, peal back half of cover. Let flues exit, place wrap leaving small opening and put it back in kitchen
Wednesdays and Saturdays before noon are free for residents only (at least was this rule last time I've been there) - June 2019 other than that there is a fee to get in. I believe is $6.00 but I'm not entirely sure.
Good answer Jessica. I don't believe I've seen an RV in thier lot before. I do know they have bus parking and a turn-around on the right side when entering.
Yes
Ages 0-12 : Free Ages 13 - 64 : $14.00 There must be a discount for senior citizens, but I cannot find info on that.
Unfortunately, I could not give advice without a pic. I would not want to risk it. Anyone at sherwood forest can help. Any tree service. Bayer's garden shop. They all can help.
Mostly outside but there is a lot of beautiful trees creating a tone of shade.
Before noon on Saturday if you are a resident it is free
Google says 1959
One or two of the exhibitions are not wheelchair accessible but for the most part everything else is. Hope this was helpful, have fun.
$14 age 13 and up, 12 and under free. St Louis residents $6, seniors $4.
You should use a medium that allows for good root growth. Potting soil is good for that. If your soil is not heavy clay then you can use a supplement to make your soil healthier for your plants. Compost of some sort will help or you can even mix in some potting soil to make the soil richer. Nutrition is the key for plants.
I think that it will be open. The only day that is closed is Christmas day.
Minimum, one hour.
It should! There is a list of reciprocal admission gardens on the Missouri Botanical Gardens website
Call them
Tuesday, I think
Chinese festival has already passed but i do believe it it once every year. And it is $16 to get in.
Don't really know but maybe it's because of the changes in weather and cooler temperatures.
Yes just be aware of soil and drainage where you are planting them.
I don't know - sorry
Yes there are a number of climate specific gardens on the grounds that are indoor as well.
They're open 9-5pm daily. Check the website for holiday hours. http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/mmbghome/mmbghours-admission.aspx

Yes. The MoBot membership is reciprocal with any of the other gardens that are part of the American Horticultural Society Reciprocal Admissions Program (AHS RAP). You can find a full list of all gardens in the US that are part of this program here: https://www.ahsgardening.org/uploads/pdfs/2019_RAP_Members.pdf
Oh I'm sorry Dolores but I don't know the answer to that. Maybe if you call them they can help you. I just visited for the first time. Buena Suerte
I don't think they will allow pets. Believe me, I would LOVE to take my dog.
The botanical garden has a helpline you'll have to look it up and call
Not sure on that I'm sure they'll post it when it gets closer. I would guess all drinks (prob mimosas as well) and an omelet maker guy would be included, but not sure how many people it serves tho. Sorry
It's open houy entrance basis, depands upon the rush
Dorothy, the Garden calendar is available online at www.gardengateshop.org.
Call a certified Arborist. That is the best place to find out. You can find one in your area at treesaregood.org
No it is in Chesterfield at Faust Park
You will be fine for the majority of the venue. There are areas where accessibility would be considered a bit rough or off terrain, but the vast majority there shouldn't be an issue.
I'm sure the website would have that information
Bamboo's can be very hard to kill. Tillandsia is correct. But I am not sure if you should cut it back all the way to the ground. Spray it with Roundup to kill it (the roots must die before you dig it up. Contact the garden's family gardening center. They have experts there that can tell you how to deal with any lawn/garden problem.
Call 911 if you are in peril and no Botanical Garden security is available.
Im not an expert on treatment, but remember that the visible bag is when they are entering their last stage of life to pupate into a moth for males or stay in the bag for females. Most of the damage to the plant is during earlier stages when the caterpillar is eating the plant.
$4 for residents of St Louis City and County $8 non residents
I have herd since when we went into last winter in a drought and had hardly any rain/snow and extremely cold winter as well as a low rainfall to date is why they are not doing so hot.
At Missouri Botanical Garden, I think.
I would rather see during the day also evening is best in summer i believe three is the last they let people in tho
Cascade Azalea will grow to be about 5 feettall at maturity, with a spread of 6 feet.
Correct, going to Mo.Bot. Garden website or calling their education help desk is the best bet for your challenges
There is a separate butterfly house that is not at the botanical gardens. You can purchase a combo ticket for both at the botanical gardens. They are both awesome. Well worth a visit
That I'm not sure of . I know they always looking for help
Yes , if you live in the county you can go on Wednesday or Saturdays till noon it's free show you drivers licence
Yes as long as you're a resident of St Louis City or St Louis County. Show your ID Wednesdays and Saturdays before noon to get in for free.

Wednesday and Saturday mornings until noon are free for residents of St. Louis, as long as you can show proof like with your drivers license.
They start at $50 for a membership with 20% off for military
They have a small train/tram you can use to drop you off in general area, but you will still have to walk quite a bit.
On Wednesday and Saturdays from 9 am upto noon, for St Louis county residents only
If you become a garden member there are discounts. Well worth the cost even at full price
That question is probably best directed to the Garden office itself (this is more for visitor questions).
They do have scooter rentals. $50 up front and $25.00 returned. Call before going to make sure they have one available, supply is limited.
my favorite part that no one else has mentioned yet is the English woodland garden. once the trees get leaves, some parts of it can feel like you're deep in the forest even though you're in the middle of the city! there is also a lovely stream that runs through it and into the water elements of the Japanese garden.
There are so many items! Jewelry, accessories, teas, tableware, books, bath products, home and grden decor, plants, seeds.... something for everyone!
They have very elaborate air defenses against drones
Usually late March. They have started to bloom. Probably 1st week of April would be optimal
There is a list on the American Horticultural Society's website.
According to the website the hours are 1pm to 4pm March 3 and 4. The site is Commerce Bank education center at Kingshighway and Shaw and the Monsanto Center at Shaw and Vandeventor
I'm probably already out of the box. The date is july 21 or 22, 2018.
Call the central office
I think the garden is beautiful anytime of the year. The climatron and orchids are worth admission alone. The Japanese garden is interesting, even in winter. If you've never visited MOBOT, you will love it!
No we haven't seen any bees

You'll want to address this question to the helpful folks at the Kemper Gardening Center at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
I think you can purchase similar or identical lights on Amazon, Hardware stores (Lowes, Home Depot), maybe even Walmart)
I believe they do have a few courtesy wheelchairs ask the front desk once you get in.
Calamondin trees are available online as seeds up to mature trees, yes even on Amazon.. I was at MOBOT gift shop recently and did not see any citrus trees.
I would wait it out a little bit more if you have yet to pick them. I prefer vine ripen or window any day, unless you like them green.
Open 9AM-5PM daily. 1-2 hours are typical. It is a very large botanical garden.
$ 6 for people living in St. Louis; 12 $ for others.
Yes I think they're open till 8 or 10 for the Japanese festival
No, they don't have, but whole sit is wheelchair friendly if you bring your own
