my favorite part that no one else has mentioned yet is the English woodland garden. once the trees get leaves, some parts of it can feel like you're deep in the forest even though you're in the middle of the city! there is also a lovely stream that runs through it and into the water elements of the Japanese garden.
Flowers and more flowers. More than you can imagine. There's a climatron ,water lilies, there's a children's area. In the children's area there's all sorts of interaction games. There's a scented Garden, a rose garden and a Daylily Garden. It's huge and beautiful. You might want to wait a few more weeks everything is not in full bloom yet.
There are several very large outdoor gardens (Japanese garden, English, etc), beautiful fountains, an indoor orchid greenhouse, and the ever-popular Climatron -- an enormous geodesic dome greenhouse. They host several wonderful events each year, such as the Japanese and Chinese festivals.
Theres this fantastic website complete with pictures, events, schedules, etc.
No one mentioned all the beautiful sculptures in the gardens.
There's a tram that is like the hop on hop off in NY, tells the history of the gardens and explains the sculptures. There's also a great children's area with tree houses, a creek, things to climb on and through. A GREAT place.

What are the chances I could celebrate my 50th wedding anniversary there in July this year?
