It can be. The Metrolink (subway) will get you downtown or to Clayton (the financial district) easily. Other areas are supported. I would suggest taking the Metrolink to Forest Park, then transfer to the bus system. As Forest Park is 10 minutes to the Garden, I would Uber the short distance and save yourself the headache. The cost for that short distance would be nominal.
