I'm not sure the wait time is, since things at my shelter is moving super slow due to the pandemic. But you should still go to path so you can have a roof over your head and food for you and your kids. You'll have priority though because you have a DV case. Although again I'm not sure what that means during a pandemic. At Path, they do intake, they offer free food, diapers, formula and a place to store your bags while you go through the process of interviews and wait for placement. Be sure to bring all kids, birth certificates pay stubs for the last months if you work, clothing and whatever else you can carry. The interview process can take all day so be ready to wait.

Shaeshia, no they don't need to be present. But if you get placed the same day, it'll be a time saver because they only give you and kids 4 hours to get to the shelter. If you can afford (time wise) to leave them, pick them up once you get place, and get to shelter with in those 4 hours then definitely do so if that's what you to do. Just make sure everyone has a bag ready and packed because that's extra time you might not have. I'm not sure what the penalty is for getting to shelter after the 4th hour, but I wouldn't risk it. The process just to do the interviews and get placed could take more than 5 hours...so just keep that in mind. Also bring their paper work and yours it will be needed. Btw, they are doing interviews by phone and you can leave the building during that time. Just don't go too far because you have to go to the basement to get your placement information. Erica, PATH IS OPEN 24/7. However, when you come after 4pm, you are not processed but are taken to an overnight placement. Where sleep and are picked up in the morning and brought back to the building to be processed and then you are given a 10-day conditional placement. This is the time that the investigators are going over your paperwork and going out to the locations in which you said you were staying. They have 10 days to find you eligible or ineligible.

Kids over two they will give bagged lunches to the kids. They have pampers if you don't have any. The process is a headache yet it's worth it. You go to the shelter for families with adult children located on power ave and 141St St. You can take the 6 train to cypress Ave and walk or the 6 train to 143rd and walk to powers Ave. Bring birth certificates, social security cards, letters from all whom you stayed with along with the dates you stayed in there home. A 2yr living history will be conducted while your placed for 10days. If you are found eligible you can stay in your current shelter. Please go to every appt that they give to you.

You would have an issue cause when your in the shelter in NYC you must be signed in everyday by the curfew thats given. No over night passes are given unless its for medical reasons only.

You cant. Who ever filled out the application is the head of household. The application ask you who the head of household is before you start filling it out.

It's only a couples shelter when you have kids together. If you have no kids the adults go to 29th n 1st ave to the adult drop in center.
