The $5 per person fee was worth it just to see the lighthouse up close. We did not pay the extra fee to go up the tower (had our dog with us and didn't want to leave him in the car). Dog-friendly grounds, even inside the store. Worth the 5-minute walk to the gazebo to get a different view of the lighthouse and the coast. Bathrooms available past the kiosk (have to pay), they're in their own outdoor building. Only 4 stars not because anything was bad, but because it wasn't overly exciting and you can see the lighthouse from farther away where you don't have to pay.

If you are interested in some history and watching the view of the landscape, this is a great place to relax. There is a small museum and shop in this area. Costs about $5 for entry and another $5 for a tour to climb the stairs up to the top of the lighthouse. It’s about 150 years old, but it has been rebuilt and renovated because the earthquake destroyed it in the early 1900s

Calm and serene atmosphere. Make sure you book your time slot before visiting the light House. They usually stop admitting new guests by 4:30 (not 100% sure). The fog warning tower houses a small museum the entry fee is ~$10. Ample parking is available both inside and outside the lighthouse gate. You can actually rent the old lighthouse keeper's quarters for vacation.

One of the many lighthouse still on the California coast, Point Arena has been for in films such as Need for Speed. Despite it's Hollywood fame, the lighthouse and the grounds are a worth while stop if on the cost. You are able to go into the lighthouse on tours which offers some amazing high level views of the area. The staircase to the top is the classic spiral design you see in classic photos of lighthouse keepers maintaining the light. The drive to the lighthouse is fun and offers some great picture opportunities of the coast and possibly to take pictures of your car along the coast.

It is a beautiful area, and yes that was the lighthouse at the end of the movie.
There are units for rent right in the shadow of the lighthouse.
I'm guessing that you could reserve it for anything since it's private property but it is closed currently due to covid
The lighthouse tower is only opened to those staying in the lighthouse B&B.
Carissa's answer is correct, the erosion problem she references is actually on our Gazebo Peninsula which is across a small bay from the Lighthouse peninsula. We have had a certified Geologist assess the Lighthouse peninsula and there are a few possible potential fissures across it that could become problematic in the future but we can't be sure without some high tech analysis, like ground penetrating radar or core sample drilling, neither of which this non-profit can afford! Rene is probably thinking about another lighthouse, ours has never been moved. The original 1870 Lighthouse Tower was damaged in the 1906 earthquake, was torn down and the current Lighthouse built to replace it. The current Tower was built in the same location as the first Tower. Thanks for visiting and responding! Mark Hancock Executive Director
