We didn’t enter the light house as It begin to pour rain that day. It’s definitely a beautiful landmark to check out. There is a whole little village there. I saw folks fishing, riding bikes, the bath houses are clean and there is a picnic shelter off good size.

Beautiful NC Lighthouse! It is a great one to climb. Very accessible with landings and hand rails. $12 cost of entry. Grounds are well maintained with a parking lot fairly close to the entrance. The gift shop has nifty memorabilia. This is a must visit attraction in NC.

Along with our two small dogs we explored the park area and water way near the lighthouse. We did not go up into the lighthouse because we had our dogs which are allowed in the park on leashes but not in the lighthouse understandably. Beautiful area to walk around and explore. Next time we will be sure to go up into the lighthouse and leave the pups at home. It's $12 a person to visit the lighthouse but the park grounds are free. A mellow place with a beautiful beach and restaurants just across the street.

A beautiful brick lighthouse that you can tour! They charge $12 to climb to the top. A 220 step spiral staircase with landings every 20 or so steps (handy for climbing breaks) takes you to the top & back. The views from the top are breathtaking! As was the wind the day we visited. 💨 Don't miss the souvenir shop or nearby boat museum (free).

The lighthouse is owned by the Outer Banks Conservationists (OBC). The lighthouse has been automated.
220 total! 214 interior and 6 exterior. 202 (interior) iron steps to the outdoor gallery; and 18 non-iron steps: 17 granite, and 1 concrete. Of the 18 non-iron steps, 6 are exterior - 5 granite but the first step concrete - and 12 are interior. Bodie and St. Augustine are both 219- the have only 5 exterior steps, all granite.
You can visit the lighthouse and walk around the grounds and visit the gift shop but you will not be able to climb any lighthouse this year due to the virus.
Yes. Make sure you're up for it. It's a hard climb but lovely view from the top.
The lighthouse is open to the public for $10, the residence duplex is not open to the public due to the current light keeper resides there. Though they do have a gift shop in one of the out buildings.
It made of brick. Not painted. All colors fade after time. It is cool and worth the 10 dollars to climb the stairs to the top.
Between Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean
30 miles long and 3-8 feet wide across its the currituck sound that extends into virginia.
Dexter Stetson who previously worked on Cape Hatteras and Bodie Island light houses.
I'm not sure I understand your question.
Foreman Dexter Stetson had overseen the construction.
It's a great place to visit. You can climb up to the top 202 steps up a winding iron staircase. The view from the top is amazing!!!
No. No ferries go to Corolla. You'll take Rte 12 North to Corolla then it's on the left after the 11 mile marker.
It was built by the U S Lifsaving Service, the organization now known as the Coast Guard.
Dogs are allowed at the park surrounding the lighthouse but are not permitted in the fenced area directly around or in the lighthouse.
The US light-house board approved it and construction began in 1873. Could not find actual contractor that physically built it
Yes now till Thanksgiving
You may want to call and ask.
Built n 1875 with money from US Govt. NC requested due to the number of shipwrecks off the coast.
